Thanks for your question! This depends on the climate where you live and the green roof system that you'd like to install. For this kind of Sedum roof, we'd recommend at least 5 cm in Western Europe, for example.
If you contact our team at sales@sempergreen.com with more details we're happy to help you find the right green roof solution for your project or property!
I read the article on disadvantages to green roofs. I just want to leave two points. As far as homes in the States, make sure you have engineered for the additional weight and that the contractor knows how to correctly build a flat roof. P.S. They aren't actually flat. The last point is more and more insurance companies are doing drone surveys and cancelling your homeowners policy if they don't like what they see. So we as a community of green citizens need to make sure we are supporting legislation that keeps this from happening.
Thank you! And a good question. We have different solutions to make sure that green roofs can thrive on this kind of slope. One of these is that we supply special vegetation blankets that can be attached to one another. Please view our website for more insight into these systems! www.sempergreen.com/en/solutions/green-roofs/types/pitched-green-roof

Remember to get a skilled professional to do the calculations if your roof is suitable and are able to withstand the weight of the combined instalation.
Thank you for your comment! It's certainly important to ensure that your roof is suitable for the weight of your chosen green roof system before purchase.
Ups!
Dear Susan, the weight depends on the system structure. View options and specifications here: www.sempergreen.com/en/solutions/green-roofs/green-roof-system-structures. For advice on your specific project, please email info@sempergreen.com or call +31343 539 699

Hi! very cool project! I have a question: Green roofs are great insulators. In this case, The heat coming from the south side irradiates to the inside of the house. Wouldn't the green roof make it difficult for this indoor heat to go away? making the house even hotter during summer
Hi Miyah, thanks for your question! While we do provide advice and example videos like this, we aren't green roof installers. We supply the necessary materials and grow the vegetation blankets on our plant nurseries. If you get in touch with us through email/phone, we can perhaps help you further with your question! www.sempergreen.com/us/contact/contact-form
does water not get trapped under the black sheet and does the moving blanket material not mildew completely after a short period? seems like a strange system
Hi Hadrian, thanks for your question! It's not a problem if there's some water in the green roof system. It can evaporate from the substrate and plants or be discharged through the drain. The protective cover is also made of a material that is suitable for getting wet and will not be damaged by this. If you'd like to know more, we'd be happy to help! You can find our contact form and details here: www.sempergreen.com/en/contact/contact-form
Hi Gareth, thank you for your question! The weight depends on the system and your local requirements, but for the system shown here the saturated weight is generally around 80 to 85 kg/m². We also have lighter systems that can even be suitable for a garden shed, for example, and heavier options that include a variety of herbs, grasses and/or wildflowers. If you're unsure about the weight that your roof is able to bear, we suggest you request a professional construction calculation.
Hi Cindy, If you're looking for the installation videos in other languages, like English, you can find the playlists for different languages here: ru-vid.com/show-UCUrBLp16buM32bvRWCyNz1Aplaylists
Also besser beim Amt nachfragen. Meistens gibt es Förderungen. Einfach den Ort/Stadt/Kreis "Dachbegrünung" und "Förderung" in der Suchmaschine eingeben.
