Hi, this video is incredible! I am a songwriter and I have written a song about Wexford and want to create a video to accompany the song. Could I please ask your permission to use this footage in my video? I would credit you in the video description when I post it to youtube. Regards, Emer.
I am 13 and i allways wanted to be in a re-enactment group as holding the flag (not shooting cuz 18 only) and i would always die in the realistic time but there are no reenactment groups in ireland just ones that are vikings and ww2 i always wanted to be in 17, 18th centary as musician or flag holder if anyone knows any in south ireland let me know! (Also i am not that guy who says DIE DIE DIE! )
+Sergiuszwil Is it not easier for You to join any Polish reenacment group from Duchy of Warsaw or late XVIII period? Btw. there is Polish Guard Lanciers reenacment group in UK :P
At Boolavogue as the sun was setting O'er the bright May meadows of Shelmalier, A rebel hand set the heather blazing and brought the neighbours from far and near. Then Father Murphy from old Kilcormack Spurred up the rocks with a warning cry: 'Arm! Arm!' he cried, 'For I've come to lead you; For Ireland's freedom we'll fight or die!' He led us on against the coming soldiers, And the cowardly yeomen we put to flight: 'Twas at the Harrow the boys of Wexford Showed Bookey's regiment how men could fight. Look out for hirelings, King George of England; Search every kingdom where breathes a slave, For Father Murphy of County Wexford Sweeps o'er the land like a mighty wave. We took Camolin and Enniscorthy And Wexford storming drove out our foes 'Twas at Slieve Coilte our pikes were reeking With the crimson blood of the beaten Yeos. At Tubberneering and Ballyellis Full many a Hessian lay in his gore, Ah! Father Murphy had aid come over The green flag floated from shore to shore! At Vinegar Hill, o'er the pleasant Slaney Our heroes vainly stood back to back, and the Yeos at Tullow took Father Murphy and burned his body upon a rack. God grant you glory, brave Father Murphy And open Heaven to all your men, The cause that called you may call tomorrow In another fight for the Green again.
I have listened to this in its entirety three times today and each time have been moved in a different way. The Hail Queen of Heaven motif is inspired. A wonderfully rounded suite - almost cinematic in it's swells - it brought me on that journey, adventure and rescue. Beautifully written Mr. Bates and bravo on it's execution Wexford Sinfonia. I shall recommend this to everyone I know - while listening over and over to it myself no doubt. Hugely impressed. My regret is I was unable to witness this live. An opportunity to do so will present itself again soon, I hope.
Stunning composition by Liam Bates so beautifully performed by Wexford Sinfonia and perfectly conducted by Liam also. A fitting Tribute to those Heroes of the Helen Blake who gave their lives to save others in that tragic storm of 1914. A fitting tribute also to the heroes we have today volunteering their time with the Irish Life Boats.
Great event - already looking forward to 2014. Good to see Eddie O'Connor's follow up article in todays Irish Times also. Real opportunities exist for Ireland in this space and its just a question of ignoring the naysayers and pressing ahead.
Excellent video! .. The Luminate conference illustrated brilliantly that Co. Wexford has great people, talent, passion, and a vibrant 'want to do, should do, can do spirit' .. Well done to all the organisers, roll on 2013!
