In my experience, Summoner gets to be much more fun at 60, but I think unlocking them also requires access to the Heavensward zones. Edit: I forgot to mention that the Summoner class is still my go-to DPS on account of having access to the Raise spell, which can be a god-send when raids go sideways. Keep your keybinds where Swiftcast -> Raise is easy to get to. When doing so, get used to using the F keys at the top of the keyboard for targeting party members. Also a good habit to train in case you decide to dive into healing. Scholar (which levels automatically alongside Summoner) is my favorite healer, so you are effectively leveling both, so be sure to give it a try. If nothing else, Healers enjoy short roulette queue times.

@@WolfzLevelling You are probably doing fine. There's some nuance for optimizing, but the fundamentals are fairly straightforward. Summon Carbuncle, use your charges. As long as you are doing that, you are doing it more or less right. One more pro-tip, if you know a fight and know you're about to have to run a lot, the Yellow and Green summons' attacks can be used on the run; Red can't and has an extra long cast bar. Don't die is the most common strategy. There are a lot of mechanics in FF14 that are basically "move or die," so always get out of the way, even if it means dropping a spell. That's pretty much all you need to know until you get your ultimate summon (at 70, I think it is, but Dawntrail is coming, so I'm not sure what changes are happening there).

I chose arcanist as start job because it's a dps that heals the earliest in game, and it's an accurate heal, not just the regular ''heal'' speel other dps has. I thought I'd continue as dps with the invoker class, but I loved so much playing scholar, I stopped playing my invoker really soon XD

I recently finished MSQ, and my advice is: 1. This is story driven, so as I get some dialogues you may be tempted to skip, don't do that a lot, or you will loose the sight of wider picture. Enjoy it like a book. 2. Yes, money and gear don't matter in a way, you will almost always be on the gear level and character level needed for the MSQ, so you don't have to spend money on anythining until you finish with MSQ to the highest level (get to lvl90 quests currently) and even then, don't rush to buy anything, unless you are in some progression group, where you need to fill the blanks with crated gear cause on last trial you didn't get the pants you wanted, you will be able to gear up for normal content, by doing it. 3. Until lvl 50 focus on the MSQ, when you have the gear from the tomstones your side quests gets easier. 4. You can get tomstones gear for each patch, when you finish it's "leveling" part of MSQ (example you hit 50 with MSQ and enter porta decumena and Ultima fight, you are able to buy ilvl130 gear with tomestones. This gear will be the best in slot for all MSQ at level 50 and when HW starts it will be best up until 53 or 54) . Similar at all patches, except the newest one. 5. I was able to effectively level 2 jobs at the same time (Tank and healer) with occasional catchup on one job with a duty roulette for tomstones... 6. Gathering/crafting jobs: not worth leveling until end game, take a lot of time. Unless you want to do something else than MSQ, but with all blue quests you'll have a lot to do anyway. 7. Don't worry about learning the ropes, if you are good, be patient to less skilled players, if you are a noob like I was, don't worry, people won't be mad that you died, cause you messed mechanic. Just do your best and reflect what you have learned at lvl15 training (Hall of the novice) and if you need additional "study materials" watch JoCat's Guide to...<your role> - humorous but educational :) and this will be enough to start and conquer the basic content. The better you;ll get, the more complex content you will be able to do, the game also gradually become "harder" in terms of basic content, so you are able to learn as you play. 8. If you are returning player, it's almost like the beginner, you relearning how to play, so above also apply for some time until you get back on track. Game is designed to gently lead you from the basic content, through medium up to hard and extreeme. My advice do the basic stuff first, and get comfortable with job/role you are playing, before jumping to some "hard shit" like Extreme trials, cause you need focus there more on the mechanic of the fight(how you should position yourself) than what you are supposed to press on your keyboard (it supposed to be obvious that you already are familiar with your skills and you know when and when to use them without pancking) :)
@WolfzLevelling
@WolfzLevelling Месяц назад
Thank you for your comment. Thanks for the advice on money, I will keep hold of it until I need it. A lot of what you said is still above my knowledge so I think I need to do a lot more research to understand it fuller, however thank you for the gathering/crafting jobs advice, I wasn't sure if I need to start them earlier or leave them for the time being. Will keep plugging away at it and over time I will become a seasoned player.

Ok.... some of this stuff is misleading. First off, it is true you don't have to worry about gear at the start, but as soon as you switch to another expansion and you don't have great gear, you are going to die over and over and over again and quests are not always going to give you stuff and dungeons don't always drop stuff. That means you will need to buy gear. There isn't much to buy with gil while leveling, but yes you do need gear to buy upgrades when you can. Because at some point you will hit a point where you cannot advance because your gear is too low leveled for a dungeon and it won't allow you to que.
@iceman3317
@iceman3317 2 месяца назад
And I agree. Do not do side quests. unless they are blue. Because those are features you unlock and that you will need at some point. But you will, at some point, have to do side quests for gear, aether currents to unlock flying and sometimes you will have to do them for xp, specifically in ShB and EW.
@iceman3317
@iceman3317 2 месяца назад
And yes you should familiarize yourself with the menu to make it easier and once again, at some point, you will need more action bars. You cannot play with just 2 actions bars. Because there are too many abilities. Also FATEs are important they sometime give decent gear and you will need to join a Grand Company to get your mount, which you need a lot of seals for.... which take forever to farm.

If you feel your life is meaningless, remember, there are gold sellers in FFXIV Great list. Fates become somewhat important in late game (Shadowbringers onwards) for crafters, as in later expansions they give a currency that can be exchanged for rare mats. and that's only if you want to be thrifty and not spend on the marketboard.

Very very good list! One thing I might add to the "KO" section of the vid, is that you can CHANGE which Aetheryte you (or your body I guess lol) teleports to for rez. It defaults to the one in the main city you started in. In this case, Limsa Lominsa. But when you happen to be in another area fighting some stuff, you can set the main Aetheryte in that area to your "Home" aetheryte. That's where you'll go back to, so you won't have to spend teleport fees or even running aaaaaaaall the way back there. You can do that endlessly, but they do overwrite each other. If you want it back at Limsa, you'd have to go back there to set it to Home. And tbh FATES are, kinda??? pointless at this point, but they do help with some... Hands On experience for the class you've chosen. What it might be like as a DPS in a dungeon, etc. So if you bite off more than you can chew, just step out of the area of the FATE. Don't forget there's Training Dummies all over the place to practice as well!!

I'm a FFXIV veteran with around 3.000 hours played and I'd like to confirm wether the points you've made stays true for the entirety of the game or not. 1. Yes, you will never need to worry about spending gil on gear, your current highest level dungeon has the best gear that you can wear. And once you reach level 50 you will unlock a separate currency called tomestones, that you get by clearing dungeons and doing your roulettes, these tomes allow you to get the best gear possible at 50/60/70/80 and when Dawntrail releases 90. Tome gear, as we call them, stays the best until level X8, after that, gear that you get in battle content usually is better and it's definitely enough until you get to your next tome gear, you will only spend gil on gear if you plan on doing savage raids on release or don't feel like farming it. On the matter of teleport fees there is a lot of content that awards you aetheryte tickets, that let you fast travel completely for free no matter the cost. 2. The recommended gear button is great but in ARR (1-50) and HW (51-60) accessories are shared between classes so you might end up with healer accessories as a tank and vice versa because it will prioritize higher item level a lot of times. 4. Fashion is limited at the beginning but at level 15 in Uldah you unlock the Gold Saucer, a place where you play minigames to get a currency that can be spent on many cosmetics like gear, mounts and minions. Also, a lot of cosmetic items require only level 1 to equip and can be bought directly from the market board, a lot of times for very cheap so while you can't directly farm them, you can buy a lot of them. 5. Yes, side quests, specially in ARR are very fetchy and very few rewards good items, specially in ARR. The main story quest alone can take 1 to 2 jobs to max level and the best way to fill xp gaps are dungeons so you don't need to worry about xp. Also, every single blue quest that isn't in a specific job guild place will unlock new content so it's always good to do them as they pop up, they can be dungeons, minigames, customization systems and so on. 9. Yeah, FATES will rarely be useful out of events or special ones with cosmetic rewards, only very later in the game FATES will start to reward you with a currency that you can buy stuff, but even after that the stuff that you can buy with it can be bought from the market board and it's not expensive so you aren't losing anything. 10. You're correct, dialogue options don't change the story, they're only for flavor as the nps react differently to a lot of them.
@hl2ice53
@hl2ice53 2 месяца назад
And also you can get 99 aetheryte tickets, a circlet that gives you 30% extra EXP under level 25 and some other stuff if you use someone's referring code on the game's website and each one of you gets rewards whenever the other renewals their sub so if you got a friend that plays the game or get into someone's free company that's something you can look into. It'll save you gil and time and it takes basically 2 minutes to do.
@WolfzLevelling
@WolfzLevelling 2 месяца назад
Thank you for your comment. This is all great information, I will definitely need to do some research into the tome gear as this is the first I have heard of them I think and aetheryte tickets is also something I need to look into. I am aware of them but haven’t yet looked it where to get them and how to use them. Wasn’t aware gear can be shared between classes so this is something I will get to look out for when choosing jobs in the future. Not sure why but I have left going to the golden saucer until later, i think I just want to enjoy the story at the moment but will go at some point. I might have to go back and do some of the blue quests then as I have just been focusing on the main and job quests. Thank you for dialogue option information, I couldn’t figure out way it was there but that explains it. Thank you for taking the time to explain all of this, it is very handy to know.

I have 6k hours in the game, and you're wrong about dungeons having the best gear lmao. Crafted sets are way better at endgame, so Gil may be important to stock up on for endgame. Tomestone gear is usually better but substats matter for breakpoints.

It's kind of amazing how much little things there are to learn, but you're doing great! A note on fall damage: so long as you have not initiated battle with an enemy, fall damage will not kill you. It will leave you at 1HP and vulnerable to attack, but if it's safe at your destination, you should regenerate health and be fine. If however you do have an enemy locked on to you in battle, then a fall from high enough will kill you. Some arenas have ledges you can fall from, or just edges that can kill you, but that'll be later. The order of mechanics is important to note too, with those exploding slimes in Brayflox the ones that drop first will burst first, and the ones that drop second are safe till after that first set explodes. I hope you continue to enjoy the game!
