With sides and back loose the cables up front were no issue. Hardest was to pull from the metal pins up front, no idea how to dismantle without breaking the plastic there.

Absolutely impressive! Out of curiosity, is the leather adhesive backed? I can understand using a steamer for stretching and contouring, but does it also activate an adhesive to keep in stuck to the panel?
I apply glue to the leather, let it dry and then use the steamer to reactivate the glue. If you want to know more, watch the videos in the description where I explain what I am doing in detail
Watched the video completely. I am also a self taught (hobby) upholsterer. But hardly as skillfull as you ! Mostly furnature, but would love to do more cars. I have to improve on shaving lether 😂. I was amazed how much you use the steamer. What mix you use wen wettening/ stretching, and what is the paternpaper you use?
I just wet the leather with tap water. The pattering plastic is called Fibretex clear. If you want to know more, watch the videos in the description where I explain what I am doing in detail
@@coastalcushionco8227 thank you. I thought that’s what you were doing but there were so many I figured that couldn’t be the answer. But clearly I was wrong. Thanks.
From the owners of the VW T6: Once again this video perfectly illustrates to others what’s possible! We were completely overwhelmed (tears of joy and lots of smiles!) when Andy at Coastal Cushion Co revealed our finished project to us. His first rate craftsmanship, knowledge and dedication are truly inspiring. It’s amazing how the energies are uplifted when a vehicle undergoes such an incredible transformation. So we can now just simply chill inside our VW and enjoy its renewed feeling of comfort and calm. With grateful thanks!
I really want to try the horseshoe zip but I'm afraid my base fabric frays quite a bit. I wonder if there is anything I can do after to keep it from fraying?
Great job saving the deckchair stripes, very much part of the early X 1/9 identity. Whats the cutting tool you use for the cloth, not something ive seen before?
I've really.come to appreciate your process as I continue to learn the craft. I absolutely love your channel and I jabe learned quite a bit. Thank you very much for sharing!
