@HectorTTalks thank you for the fast reply bro really appreciate it, so just remove wheel, remove caliper, remove rotor, remove nut, then the axel can slide out of the way? Or do I need to remove anything else. Going to do it in a few mins but wanted to make sure I don't remove or do any unnecessary stuff.
my murano is leaking rear vavle gasket - should I keep driving the car and refilling engine oil? - short of funds mainly machanics asking $500 labor only. Parts under $100
@@jaspreetsingh-hd6gv so that's actually not the best thing to do. Yes it can be costly to have fixed at a shop however it's gonna be less than the repairs you'll need further down the road. Just letting it leak and refilling the oil sounds good at first but the longer that goes on and the more it leaks the more it damages. Behind the engine, the oil will get into your steering column, rack and pinion, control arms, ball joints, tie rods even the exhaust. Over time, the oil will start to damage those components and wearing them out faster so while it may be easier now to refill it and just keep driving like that, it will take a toll on your car and can end up costing more later on.
@@HectorTTalks thanks for your quick response. Oil is all over the transfer case for now - thinking of applying Honda bond, Grey sealant from outside but again very difficult to access. Question - are spark plugs seals replaceable or better to install new valve cover.
@@jaspreetsingh-hd6gv so unfortunately a lot of Nissan engines have the tube seals integrated into the valve cover so they aren't replaceable and you need a new valve cover, and the VQ in the Murano is one of those engines
@@MoneyRunCam so I had a 28mm open ended wrench to hold the camshafts from spinning while I loosened the bolts on the cam gears. For that I had a breaker bar so it had leverage to make it easier to break the gear bolts loose. You could use an impact gun, I just didn't. Once you get the gears off, then you take off the camshaft bearing caps and the cams lift right out
@@outerbanks854 they might be similar but best to get the exact specs. You might be able to find it in the Haynes repair manuals or online Infiniti forums
A word of advice, never ever expect to seal _any_ type of pressurized hose, gas or liquid, with duct tape. It doesn't work for even a microsecond, the gas or liquid just instantly blows right past it.
lol no, I actually tried to plug the hole with some rubber cut from another tube. the duct tape was just to try to hold it in place, but of course it didnt work either. But yeah just using duct tape won't hold anything that's pressurized
Yes so I would have to disagree with you there at 16:46. That is just dead wrong and I know a thing or two. I have been in the automotive industry for a sum of lets just say this... I was using socket wrenches when you were still in diapers hahaha
my boyfriend's got a 1987 Maxima and had this exact issue, but because his car is so old we couldn't find ANYTHING telling us if that part is supposed to be there or not... until this video. thanks so much for making and sharing. especially that you had to cut it off!
@@HectorTTalks Hey Hector... I found one of your videos about replacing a control arm on a Maxima... I'm trying to figure out torque specs on my 01 Infiniti I30 it's the same as a maxima... You are the only one that I have found so far..who covers all of the torque specs... wondering if they are the same as on mine...or how I can find them...that front nut was really hard to break loose.. anyway.. you do good work.. I appreciate it
I know this video is old. But I can't get the old gasket out of the valve cover. Front side was in and out. Rear cover gasket won't budge. I could use some suggestions
Don't be afraid to pry it out if needed with a prying tool or even a Phillips screwdriver, the gasket is being replaced so it doesn't matter what happens to the old one and it's not really gonna damage the valve cover unless you take some drastic measures to get it out
Today car didn't start checked everything is ok except ive seen a pool of water aftervremoving spark plugs in 3 cylinders 😢😢😢😢😢😢 and its done 2 years back only ,ill try to do it tomorrow ,my bigger concern is the intake manifold the most difficult part .
Hmm, I would have it checked to make sure there isn't any small cracks or warping. Sometimes small shops can do this and aren't expensive to have it done
sounds like the gasket is gone or maybe a crack. Either way, it'll need to be checked out in person by a mechanic or at a shop to see what exactly is the cause.
