This speaker is very knowledgeable and, thank God, goes straight to the point, so it’s an agreeable moment to hear. I didn’t finish his speech, but as a Jungian and an Intuitive Introvert in the MBTI personality types, dreams are a clear language to me. What is not clear is hearing science guys examining a universal tool that gives inputs and receives them as an antenna from each corner of the quantum field - be analyzed as a flash in a tiny circuit of itself because scientists still can't conceive that MIND is not the brain (but the result of and a zillion things more). I will try to see where the speaker goes with this technically perfect talking, knowing I probably would have to leave at some point. If I go nowhere and am amazed by some innovation in their paradigm, I will return here to leave my WOW!

Re his final words - he is so right. On a day to day basis what are we doing to prevent crime & deliver social order & local needs. Too many people sit back and say nothing, do nothing. How many know of a neighbour making claims they are not entitled to or driving a car without a licence.... Crime, order, society & local politics is all our responsibility. That's funny to ask if there is going to be a future furtheron. The answer should be, that there is going to be a future on planet earth until the sun will burn it. So life will continue for million of further years even after atomic war had happened, and it will continue to be cruel as it always had been. Maybe it will continue without human beings, but some living beings will continue to torture and slaughter each other. Surely. That's the way things go on planet earth. Look at its history. Or live with cats in the same household. So the question should be, If there is a place in the universe where is no life at all. Instead of saying in admitting that you don't know where dreams are coming from in your arrogance. You want to say dreams come from your brain when in fact this is just not true. Just because there's data stored in your brain doesn't mean that it creates dreams from the data. That's like saying computer create movies from the data that stored in it. Some people have dreams of things they never even experienced before so where is that coming from? It wasn't stored in the brain....

For me Ayahuasca showed me the root of a LARGE traumatic event when I was 7 and EMDR helped me process the trauma. It only took me 35 years to discover this combination.

I have admired the arguments of both of these phenomenal individuals, however I have to admit, Dr Dennett proves Dr. Sapolsky's point right at about 38:15. When he says, "that sentence reveals that you have bought the pathetic line of those incompatibilist philosophers who insist that free will depends on indeterminism". This means that Dr Dennett MUST believe that that dependence isn't so, and that free will can exist where nothing but determinism exists. His very next sentence however, "it doesn't, it depends on randomness". Randomness by it's very definition is an outcome that cannot be determined (or accurately predicted). His next sentence, "Let me put a question to you, does evolution depend on indeterminism or randomness, like a coin flip?". I'm not sure what he's getting at here, because a lack of free will does not preclude evolution, or put in reverse, evolution does not disprove the lack of free will. Evolution is nothing more than how some "thing" has moved (and perhaps will continue to move) through time. Biologists view evolution as the change in the biology of beings through time. I'm not quite sure though whether biologists agree on whether the evolutional change is due to randomness or not. It could very well be that genetic modifications through evolution have been due to purely deterministic algorithms for which we simply don't yet understand all of the input variables nor their interactions yet. Overall my problem, is that Dr. Dennett is arguing that randomness is necessary for evolution (which I also am not quite sure of) through random generation of diversity. I fail to see the connection however between evolution and the lack of free will as those by themselves are not incompatible. If he is attempting to use evolution, as it looks random, to show that there is indeed indeterminism, and thus there has to be free will, then maybe. But even he says free will doesn't depend on indeterminism, so he is disproving himself, or at least creating a circular argument.

So you answered the question "Where do dreams come from?" but you haven't answered the question "Where do dream images come from?" I haven't heard anything profound in this speech that couldn't be explained by a simple machine, or theory, or observation. In my opinion, you are asking the wrong question, the one that no one can answer with science. The house or forest or person that shows up in a dream does not exist in reality, so where do these images come from? If our brain creates them, then the question is, "How?" When you write that book, I might just read it.

I chose to be childfree at 16. I end the suffering right there lol.. the more I listen to the more I feel right about my decision. The shit you have to go through and the effort you put in just to live on .. not worth it.. most kids should have been born.
