@@roxanne2749 thanks for checking in. Yeah everything is good. We’ve been dealing with apartment issues of recent; but I’ll be back soon. Truly awesome to see know you were wondering.
Still love the style. Ours was run hard. So don’t love some of the small issues. The filter for the ac is a ridiculous repair but all in all great car.
Yeah, I ordered this razor with blade replacements that say 3-5 years of shaving for $90. Meanwhile, I've been getting ripped of by Dollar Shave Club for several years now for $25/mo. I hope this lives up to what I'm expecting. I'll update this comment
There is definitely a learning curve to it. But you have to also keep in mind - men shaved like this for 75 years before cartridges came out in 1972 - and a straight edge "knife" before that for centuries. I started with the Merkur 34c everyone recommended, but have been using a 1957 Gillette Superspeed Regular for the last 6-8 years. The 1 blade is ALOT sharper then the 5 "blades". When I first started DE shaving, I nicked myself several times over a year, but I stuck with it, and I'm glad I did. Even today, I still get "weepers" and an occasional nick. There are also so many different DE blades and aggressiveness, smoothness, etc. - it took me 12 years trying different ones to find the one that works best for me - Voskhod. It's known as as very smooth but some say "dull". But I also am not dumping wads of cash for blade refills and the shave feels amazing. Before the pandemic, $9.99 for 100 blades that last 2-3 shaves, and they can be cleaned. If you have to stick with the cartridges, irritation or redness can mean a few things, or as you found out and it's a cleanliness issue, get a jar and some Barbicide and mix with distilled water (the blue stuff at the barber you always see), and leave your razor in it for 20 minutes to kill any nasties, and rinse off thouroughly. Don't leave it in there until your next shave - it will eat the metal and turn it black.
You irritate me and you destroy the whole pleasure of wet shaving! This with the oil long for you have many try. And it's a horrible shave. The Oil is maybe good as a pre shave and more not! You have no idea about the whole subject! First of all, the oil clogs the safety razor all the time, so you have to constantly clean it while shaving, and your skin feels dry and irritated. Your ignorance and your way of shaving are just a shame. If you'd just bought the cheapest tube of shaving cream and an aftershave, you'd have had a shave 1000 times better. Without a red, irritated face! And shaving like you is no fun or point. Don't even try to shave with a straight razor. Oh dear, what kind of people are there out there. Just look at all the videos of all of us. PaulHFilms, Sig Solo, Kevy Shaves, CB Shaves, dappershaves, Tobin Fetters, Geofatboy, Ken Shaves and others 1000 wet shavers. Firstly, there are so many lovely scents in every direction from so many manufacturers. A 100g shaving soap will last you the whole damn year, just like the AS. But the most important thing is that you enjoy shaving and it's just great. You ignoramus!
I agree. Choosing razor, blade, soap/cream, AS/ASL etc. makes it more than a routine. It's a spa moment. Just using oil will destroy the pleasure of skin care.
If you want to see how to really shave, much better and with more fun. Then look at real wet shaver channels! www.youtube.com/@RobertsClassicShave or many other guys 😊
“Oh my gosh I cut myself” *Continues to drag ALLLLL the way down his face HOPING not to get cut* Gotta pace man. The longer you do one stroke the more likely you’re going to cut yourself. By the way. I love your videos. Keep making them!
Hey Guys well I tried the se razor it doesn’t work for me the blade wasn’t even sharp enough for my beard. But the new throw away razor works like a champ no problem
Don't know how I got here, but these have been my pants of choice for decades. I'm an extreme minimalist and only keep 2 pairs at a time. They normally last about 5 years before the black starts to turn grey and I replace them, but for $25 on Amazon, it's more than worth the cost.
Wet shaving is a personal thing. With that said, I wouldn't any of those razors. Out of my 50 plus razors I'd pick my vintage Gillette Slim adjustables with a Perma Sharp blade.
A little honest constructive criticism. I agree about using a preshave oil for softening and lubrication. The use of a brush is to lift the wiskers and lather to keep them elevated, along with additonal lubrication. Try using a classic soap such as Cella, there's a reason why it's been around since the 1890's. Use short light strokes(blade buffering) to aid against razor burn. Actually, you have more of a chance irritation by using long strokes. Rinse and finish with an aftershave or astringent. Turn a daily task into an enjoyable treatment. 👍🪒
I bought a pair of these pants and a matching jacket for a wedding this summer, and can not express enough, how fine the quality, fit, and fabric is. I got black cross hatched in wool. So fine!
The 2nd generation Henson AL13 (mild) is my first and only DE razor. It’s hard to imagine a shave being any closer or easier than what I’m getting. Tried several blades from a sampler pack so far-Feather, Kai, Dorco, PK, Gillette, Wilkinson et al-and they’ve all been fine. Kind of keep coming back to Astra blues and greens, though. I use products from Proraso, Taylor of Old Bond Street, and Caswell-Massey (my favorite, in the classic Number Six scent). Shaving is enjoyable again! The Henson is so close that shaving more often than every 3 days is barely justified, unfortunately.
You need an alum bar and styptic pencil. And never dial it up to 6. I have a thicker beard than yours, and I go no higher than 3. But, that is just me.
I would have used the Feather blade for the second pass and use the RK for the first. I also own a Henson AL13 and love it. And it is made in my province (Ontario, Canada).
I’m about a week into shaving with my new Henson AL13+ (mild), and there has been quite a learning curve. The first couple of times were quite bloody. Maybe also because I don’t have my shaving soap game down yet. Only when I went back to Gillette gel did I manage not to make a bloody mess, and, equally important, not to constantly clog up the razor. I had to loosen it and violently shake it in the sink 7-10 times during one shave. Prohibitively annoying ... Besides the gel instead of soap, I’m not quite sure what I do differently but I have probably just gotten a better feel of the razor and gotten better at not applying pressure. It must be said that I am quite literally thin-skinned. A change in diet has improved it somewhat, but I still cut myself rather easily. However, I am now down to not having more cuts with the Henson compared to the Mach3. In fact, I have fewer micro cuts, but then still some bigger ones on the neck. So all in all, I don’t see myself going back to the Mach3. The jury’s is out on whether I’ll stick to gel or invest more time in learning the soap game. And in a better brush - I find the stiff wild boar one that I got for practice uncomfortable. So to all DE novices: Don’t give up! You *will* get better, and it *is* nice to shave with a proper, durable tool instead of a plastic device, and I am in fact looking forward to each shave now!
What gives me the best shave is TOBS preshave oil,TOBS Sandalwood shaving cream, the three blade LEAF for the first pass and the across the grain pass and the LEAF TWIG for against the grain and close trimming...
When I saw you rated Supply Closeness a 1, I laughed and subscribed. That is exactly what I felt. It was my first razor switch from Gillette lab, which disappointed me. I was trying to shave as close as I got from Gillette and I cut myself multiple times from supply. Thank you for the honest review.
@@FashionableFather I moved back to Gillette lab cartridge razor. But I decided to switch next month, now I’m choosing between Leaf Thorn or Henson medium, still having a hard time to choose which one to get.
not happy at all. bought one 3yrs ago. 3 weeks ago, it broke at the thread when i tried to turning it. tried to get a replacement because of their lifetime warranty. they said they can only give me 25% off if i buy a new one. lemon warranty. expensive, lemon warranty, they need to get sued.
@@FashionableFather I have a question Can someone between the ages of 18 and 20 pull off high-waisted pants and still look young and good in them? I really really love such old classy style but fear that it might look weird because of the age, will it?
Yes, actually the younger the better. You’ll look very fashionable in my opinion. May I ask where you are from? That may be the reason you’ll feel weird. Some cities/states are more fashion forward.
@@FashionableFather I would be delighted to provide you with some context, which I believe you will find intriguing. Originally from a nomadic tribe residing in the stunning mountain ranges of Afghanistan, I married at a young age. I am seeking fashion advice for my husband, who is now 20. Having relocated to India, I am currently pursuing my education. While fashion is not as prevalent here, I have a deep appreciation for traditional, classic, timeless, and elegant styles. I hope to introduce my husband to such fashion, though I am concerned he may feel self-conscious about standing out or facing judgment for embracing a style that is less common in our new environment.
