I'm Michael Kinney - former award-winning broadcaster, freelance video producer, and occasional actor, who's been creating professional video of all kinds for 30+ years. I'm constantly blown away by the quality of video you can create with iMovie, Keynote, QuickTime Player, and other free, or inexpensive video creation tools for the Mac.
I have been trying for months to figure out how to make professional looking videos for teaching music theory on You Tube. This is so great! Thank you so much.
The export added 3 min. on the beginning of my short video, 3 min. of black with music and the video only starts at 2:46 min.. Don't understand why. Also it doesn't say Quicktime on my export, it simply says movie. And I'm supposed to choose Format, which means HEVC or Apple ProRes 422 with 4 variation choices or 444? or H264. Also I don't understand why you didn't select 1080p.
I figured out most of it by myself, except the shortcuts, but my problem is that I stop, and continue speaking. I have to put my thoughts together, check references..so it's not a fluent speech. When I stop, and try to continue, it goes down to the 3rd track. Then I can't pull it up to the second track. When I play it both plays at the same time, you cannot understand anything. And it goes like this, the 3rd sentence goes to the 4th track....and so on. Would you tell me how to move all of the pieces in one track that I recorded separately.? Thanks. I kept trying, I think if you extend the picture, it works. The second part records to the 3rd track, the 3rd records to the 2nd track again, right under the picture, and then you can pull up the second part to the 2nd track, in-between the 1st and 3rd recorded part. So you can play it at once continuously. I keep experimenting. Long time ago the GarageBand was like that. I made many videos using GarageBand podcast. GarageBand records sound now, only. iMovie, the previous versions, you had to record fluently, you couldn't stop talking. So this is new now. I am glad.
I have different kind of question: Your voice and narration is exceptional. Would you have any tips on how can someone improve in that area? Or could you do a 1-on-1 of some sort. Thanks :)
I seem to remember in previous versions of iMovie you could actually delete unused portions of video clips. I’ve no need to keep every um and er and mistake I make. But I can’t find that feature anymore. Has it gone?
One of the best how to vids I've seen on RU-vid - spot on, helpful and concise - Thank you! I learned new tricks that will streamline my work. Liked and subbed 🙏
Thank you so much! The App Preview tip is crucial. In Apple Support they tell you that starting any Project with a vertical video will cause the exported file to be vertical, but that is false. Your App Preview trick seems to be the key 😀
Weirdly, I would be able to record audio from a Mac using QuickTime player and the audio would play out of both speakers, but ever since I’ve used a USB microphone, I’ve got an Elgato neo I started a podcast which would play out of both speakers, but other audio now only plays out of one left speaker why I’m using the channel that I’ve being using for years
