Hello card game fans, and welcome to my channel! My name is Cameron Undergust, and I'm the UVS Hermit! I've been playing Universus since 2017 and am an avid deck builder. This channel is mainly gonna be a place for me to post ideas and builds for the Universus CCG. I plan on tackling builds for all formats, including Spotlights, Standard, and even Retro Format! Most of these will be more like springboards to help players new and old get some fresh new ideas for characters you may or may not have put much thought into, or even random ideas that get stuck in my head that I might find fun or entertaining. I hope you all enjoy!
The hardest part for me with Universus is deckbuilding. I want to play this game so badly and have so many cards, I just can't wrap my head around deck building. So many cool characters to choose from, but then I look at what I should put in the deck and my brain turns to mush. I also can't netdeck because I have no idea what I am REALLY looking at.
@@ChaoticGoodz if you’re on the UVS discord channel there are all sorts of people willing to take a look at what you’re doing and help out. Myself included! Deck building is my favorite part of the game, but it’s all about knowing what you want to do, and how you want to do it. In fact if you find me on the discord channel (I’m still UVS Hermit there) feel free to message me and I’ll see if I can help you figure out a fun deck to start with
I can see Foundation control is the most annoying strategy to fight huh Thanks for these helpful lessons, I really enjoyed the series and I’m ready to start playing!
I’ve seen a couple of games where the damage on that one attack builds up so big that kills the opponent in one swing. Is that the type of bomb we talking here?
This game definitely has something interesting going on in the deckbuilding front. So many variables to consider one card above other, ratios deciding factor aint as easy as other card games I’ve played, I’m gonna have a lot of fun building and testing here!
Deck stability is more about passing your checks, so higher checks (more 5 or 6 checks) and less lower checks would increase stability. At least that's how I think it works.
@@dylony6396 no, it’s not out of anything, but the higher the number the better it supposedly is. It’s not an exact science though, that I’ve seen. It’s a very basic “by the numbers” of how often you might check good
I do like its search options and the status summary is phenomenal, but the page looks so serious, so… not fun, when I entered the first time i didnt feel I was looking for a card to play but a bill to pay.
@@ggninokun backups cannot be flipped as of right now. But in the future if that is the case then I’m sure we will get a ruling as to whether it turns into a face down foundation or goes to the discard pile
When playing Spotlight it is possible not to have access to certain keyword abilities, am I right? For example, Flash might not be available on AoT cards if I decided to play Spotlight AoT.
So, the order of cards in the card pool remains until they are cleared, that is what I am getting from this explanation. I cant, let say, change the order of cards in my card pool in order to meet the COMBO requirement.
@@ggninokun That is correct. The order remains the same unless a card effect allows you to rearrange them. However if a card effect clears a card from your card pool you could theoretically use that to “rearrange” the cards to fit your combo requirements
I see in Attack on Titan, character cards have no Difficulty. That means AoT characters are not meant to be inside the main deck, but you still can have a MHA character in your AoT deck?
@@ggninokun Correct. Cards without difficulty or control cannot be put into your main deck, so you CAN have MHA characters in your AoT deck, but not vice versa. You CAN have them in your side board so that you can switch characters between games though
@@ggninokun yes, if you have characters in your side board, you are allowed to switch between games, provided that new character has the same symbol that your deck is built off of. And just make sure that after your match you switch back to your original starting character.
Here is a question, when I sit down and take out my deck to play, do I tell my opponent: I the symbol I’m playing is Death? Or do I let me opponent figure out what symbol my deck is?
@@ggninokun you’re not obligated to inform your opponent, but usually by your first turn, they will see the cards you played and be able to figure it out
Hey, that’s my story too, but with Dragon Ball Super Card Game. I had to learn by myself pretty much, but thanks to the community and youtubers from back then, I grew in the game and opened my own youtube channel to give back, just like you’re doing. I’m happy I found this channel for my next adventure on Attack on Titan, let the journey begin!
Just because you dedicated a video to Hange-san, you gained a new sub. I hope to see more of Hange-san in the future. Let’s go 🔥🔥🔥 Thoughts of Hange-san in Spotlight format? Do her odds get any better?
@@ggninokun honestly Hange is the character I’m MOST excited for! In spotlight I think she lacks the tools to push damage through, at least until set 2 later this year, but in Standard I think she’s a sleeper character and not one to be underestimated!
Found my answer from your video. Thank you for the detailed explanations. I wasn't sure if I need to make a check when I play "Unstoppable Force". I thought it would be too powerful to not needing a check (the difficulty is 1 anyway). I couldn't make out the answer from the official reference.
I got both a holo and non-holo Marco Bott in my prerelease kits, so they might be doing an XR thing for just the characters. IDK but it's both odd and neat.
@@joshuareznicek1010 So after filming this I was informed that any character that does not have an alternate art version can be found as both foil and non foil, and I kinda like that.
@@scottchiarelli4414 for they Day 0 build, I don’t think so. But moving forward I think you would have to make more considerations since you aren’t getting as much momentum as quickly
Any opinion on the errata’s in general? I’m always disappointed when the physical text doesn’t match, but I can’t say I’m unhappy with the change itself.
@@ShinPG Honestly I’m fine with the changes, I think they make the characters more fair. They used to reprint errata versions of the characters and send them to stores to hand out, I wish they still would
I’m new to the game some people at my game store picked up some of the starter decks, could I build dabi 3 deck under $10, I’m just playing against starter decks so don’t need a competitive deck just want to play dabi for cheap, any ideas for a dabi 3 deck under $10?
I've never built a Dabi 3 before, this was fun! I don't know if this is over the $10 limit, but it should be close. I hope this helps, and I hope you guys have fun learning! uvsultra.online/deck.php?deck=YkdcLfklRdMAnBsZWFYJxCgLJISmmr#!deck-stat
I believe the answer is yes BUT can you have multiple backups in your stage at the same time? Loving your 'lesson' series, Mr. Hermit. As a somewhat new player, some little intricacies that I have learned. Keep up em :)
@@chadc638 yes you may have multiple different backups in your stage at the same time. And Unless the backup has the Unique keyword, like the Shift attack backups that I will cover soon, yes you may even have multiple copies of the same backup. Thank you for the support, I’m glad I can help!
@@jjbrawler6628 It’s never too late! And if you join the official UVS Discord you can find people to help you test your deck either on tabletop simulator or on webcam
Really appreciate that breakdown. I saw this mentioned either in an email or maybe while searching cards but forgot to look directly into it. This was a good breakdown. Do you have a video breaking down the strengths of each symbol?
@@BoltynsBlade Thanks for watching! I don’t have a symbol breakdown video yet, as they have stated they want to strengthen/change symbol identity using Attuned symbols so once we get a clearer and fuller picture I will be breaking it down.
Enjoyed the video. One of the frustrating things about the game is that each set drops so many different heroes, I don't get as familiar with some as I'd like.
@@JacobTrout thank you so much for your support! It means a lot to me and I hope that I can continue to provide support and knowledge for players of all levels. I’m proud to be an ambassador for this game, so long as it will have me!
