Just friction hold between plastic and dowel? Plastics have really low friction coefficient !! Put some screws into that dowel.

If it is PLA it will in time crack and break, never use PLA for anything with any tension, use it only for decor pices

Don't recomend use PLA for this parts. Constant force will snap PLA eventually.

3d printed guides and gigs suck. PLA is not dimensionally stable enough and aluminum is not expensive at all

you need to insert steel spacers on the screws between the to plates to prevent breakage or bending from over-tightening

This is such a cool project and the print files are very high quality. BUT the biggest issue is that the hardware is so diverse- different sizes and heads - that you end up spending about the same just on pieces, mostly having to buy more than you intend. Would love it if there was a hardware kit you sold.
