I only use spray max 2k clear glamour on goalie masks that I airbrush for ice hockey goalies. Best product ever. I just painted a glock 19x, and unfortunately spray max is sold out. I'm going to order this and try it.
I used your 2X gloss clear coat on a vintage motorcycle tank. I sprayed the clear coat 3 days ago and left it over the weekend to fully cure. I followed the instructions every step of the way, and it looked fantastic when I left the shop for the weekend. The finish exceeded my expectations. When I came back in this morning, the clear coat was covered in spider cracks all over. They are so deep, that they catch your fingernail when you lightly drag it over the surface. I don't blame the product at all. It worked great on other pieces of the project. Do you have any idea what could cause this? It is a 2 colour candy red and silver fuel tank which will take time to sand down and respray before I can try again with the 2K clear coat. I am hoping that you have some guidance so that my second attempt will be successful.
Wish I saw this video before I used it on a panel. Can instructions do not say anything about a light first coat. It pebbles very badly at first so I put on a heavier first coat to flatten it out. On horizontal surfaces it works great, but on vertical I got runs. Can instructions also only say 5 minutes between coats. Haven't sanded it yet, so we'll see how it goes.
Thanks for your purchase. We're sorry for the issue, these are very reactive products and sometimes we make errors. Please do reach out to our customer service info@car-rep.com and we will remedy the issue.
I bought a spray can of gloss clear coat on Amazon to try out: faulty can, nothing comes out when you press the cap... Judging by the comments, I'm not the first person this has happened to.
Thanks for your purchase! We're sorry you had a defective can, it does happen from time to time. With new technologies new, unknown issues can arise and we're doing our best to catch them. We absolutely stand behind our products and always replace any faulty products. Not one contact to our customer service goes unattended. Please reach out to us and we will make it right.
Hello, Thank you for your reply. As I said, it was just a test. The problem is not the refund, I suspect that if I had asked you you would have refunded me. But when you use a can of varnish, it's certainly because you're working on a small project for which you've planned just the quantity you need. The varnish has to be applied fairly quickly after painting, so you don't really have time to get a refund or another can in exchange. Your technology is interesting, but it needs to be made reliable so that the customer doesn't have to order several cans in case one of them is faulty.
WARNING: do not use Car-Rep 2K Polyurethane Clear Coat. This product over dark colors will crack if exposed to sunlight. Stuff looked great until exposed to sunlight. What a nightmare . . . literally.
Are you sure it was not operator error. They say this stuff drys much more quickly. If that is the case it would seem that if you spray it on and then 12hrs later take your vehicle out into the sunlight it might cure too quickly. Perhaps it needs 48hrs before taking it out into the light.

Had the same results; cracks, you say? Man, it is horrible... I used Car-Rep 2K clear coat over their own Car Rep Jet black color... I give them a call, wrote to them too to figure if I made a mistake or something... to no avail.
@@rbelang8331 I will not use Car-Rep 2K again. I'm scared of the stuff. Will stick with Spray Max 2K. After activating it, I've been about to keep the Spray Max usable for well over a month by keeping it in a refrigerator.👍

I tested the car rep clear to try and you are 100% correct. It goes on nice and 1 day good, 2nd day good... 3rd day it started cracking like a spider web. Only in a few specific places. I was in a controlled environment and followed every direction to a tee.
@@chrisguzman7926 I sprayed my engine cover with 3 different colors, red, white and black. The issue was with the black. I noticed it first when I put the painted cover out in direct sun light to help cure the paint. The cracks only occurred where the clear coat was over the black paint. Must be a heat issue. The black paint temperature gets very hot compared to other colors. I had no problems with the other colors.
Does car rep also mix automotive specific colors? So if I have the paint code for my vehicle, can car rep produce that color? My last question is I live in THE US and I have a 2015 Ford escape in Fords Tuxedo Black, Color code is UH. I was recommended to purchased a 2 in 1 black for the Primer filler. I would like to.try your primer filler but you only make it in Grey or Dark Grey. Would the Dark Grey work fine for the 2 in 1 Primer Filler?
Yeah, watching paint dry is correct. Your product is terrible. Soft after a week and counting. This is no 2k paint. Spray Max is a better product in every way and a true 2 part paint. Your garbage isn't any better than the cheapest 1 part discount cans available everywhere. Avoid this crap at all costs.
I sprayed yesterday the the matte black 2 K over some car parts that primered with POR-15. The POR-15 dried only a few hours. It worked well so far, no reaction, and the CAR- REP 2K is already today much harder than any 1 part cans that have used. I think its something between a 1K and a traditional 2K product. POR -15 is pretty tricky to get another paint to stick, this was an experiment and hope it will hold up.
Man I'm gonna try it, if it does work will be magical: 2K hardness on a can that can be half used and stored to be used later, it's a dream that came true!
Is this 2 k clear coat as dangerous to use as other company s that u have to slam the hardener activator ? Does it have the same active ingredients , doing rims outside with respirator style mask , how dangerous ?
Car-Rep 2K is a 2-component polyurethane Clear Coat and contains the same/similar materials as any other 2K clear coat. We're guessing you're referring to isocyanates as the danger element. Just like any other you should always wear a respirator and protective gear. Isocyanates are known lung irritants so proceed with appropriate caution if you have conditions like asthma. Ensure that you have good ventilation as well.
We do! We introduced them in North America in July 2023 but funnily enough had not realized this comment. The equipment colors are starting to pick up speed so let's hope we're right.
I bought 2 cans n while yes sprays nice it takes literally forever to dry I painted my motorcycle fork legs put a heater blowing on it for 3days.a week later it felt hard, cured so put my cover on bike n the elastic of the cover cut into the paint, did the same on my sissy bar had it in my room painted for 2weeks,put a sock over top so it wldnt scratch on the wall n pulled sock off n elastic cut into the paint idk but it wldnt dry n it was in my room for 2 weeks kinda pissed 50$in spray paint now I gotta repaint everything
DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT. I used it on a few plastic panels and it cracked and/or crazed during or immediately after wet-sanding and polishing. I also used it on a few metal panels. After 1 to 2 months it started to crack and it craze on those. I’m not an armature. I’ve been doing automotive body work for 25 years. I applied this product in textbook fashion. It’s not worth trying to save a few bucks by avoiding not using up all the product in time with 2K clears that have 24-48 hour shelf lives. That is much better than ending up with a disaster that has to be fixed. To top it off, the company engages in gaslighting to convince you that their failed product and faulty instructions are not to blame. Auli Parviainen, Managing Director, actually tried to convince me that polishing means buffing, and buffing means polishing. She also admitted that their new recommended flash time is 5min, even though they are still selling cans that state 15min! Yet on their PDF instructions on their website it states 3min! Now I’m left with having to sue them for 60 hours of labor wasted on their crack up clear coat.
I used Car-Rep jet black for my Sportster tank and fenders. It laid on nice, just as advertised. After the paint had been on over 6 weeks I has a massive gas spill all over the tank. I live very close to the gas station and raced home (probably 2 full minutes). As soon as the kickstand was down I was dousing the bike with the outdoor hose. And immediately squirted some Dawn dish washing soap (the best soap there is!) on a wet sponge and washed down the tank. Normally any gas spill on a rattle can paint job would totally ruin the paint. To my amazement there was no damage to the paint. This was way more than a careless gas spill of a couple drops. I actually put the gas cap on cock-eyed after I filled up and when I took off the gas coming out of the filler hole had covered the tank and continued to flow out on the 2 minute ride home. However.....just the other day I was chasing a threaded hole on the front down tube of the frame. After I ran the tap in and out of the hole I sprayed just a quick shot of aerosol Brake Cleaner in the hole to clean it out. A dozen or so drops of the Brake Cleaner landed on the front fender and ruined the paint! I had a half a can of the Car-Rep jet black left and repainted the fender after sanding down the fender with a wet sand 600 then 1500. Again the paint laid on nice. A couple of points to note....1. This paint does lay down nice. Two mist coats followed by a full wet coat. 2. It really is gasoline proof. For how long after a spill I do not know but 1K rattle can paint would have been totally destroyed immediately. 3. Super Tech aerosol Brake Cleaner from Wal-Mart ruined the paint. 4. The other guys 2K rattle can paint, with the hardener in a bladder that gets punctured before use, is a use-it-all or lose it. Car-Rep says what is left in the can can be used later. I found this to be true. My half a can had been sitting a couple of months and when I repainted the front fender. It sprayed just like it did when new. I recommend this paint for the rattle can guys out there. It really is way better than 1K paint. Thanks Car-Rep.
if you know something about 1k and 2k paint you know this is bs you can`t have 2k at the same time like that there are 2k cans with you mix if you want to use yes but not this type there are never dry paint dry for days and is soft
This paint is 2k as it has a hardener that is activated when exposed to air. Once fully hardened, it can be sanded and polished. It’s new chemistry. As a bonus, it does not contain dangerous isocyanates.
