Hey Jesse, thanks for taking the time for our questions. I know everyone fully expects Cal Ritchie to go back to the OHL most of next year, but do you expect him to at least get the 9 game try out? If so, do you think there's any way they give him a real look by putting him at 3C for those games with guys like Colton and LOC on his wings so that he really gets an idea of what he needs to work on when he does go back to the OHL?
By December i see us running smt like this out for most games👌🏽Who did i miss? ChuChu-Mak-Drouin Lehky-Middlestadt-MOOSE CAPTAIN-LOC-Duhaime Wood-Colton-Kovalenko Cale-Toewzer Sammy-Walker Manson-Malinski
Fully get the Val situation and why the team might be mad. Not only is it’s Val’s career but everyone’s in that locker room. Careers are short and they don’t want to waste any of it. My question is. Can the Avs ask/petition the league to keep Val in the program longer? For his sake but from a business perspective keep the LTIR money free. The Avs can surely demonstrate that the program thus far hasn’t worked/helped and it may take longer than 6 months.
On Landeskog - you have absolutely no idea what you are going to get from him. He can get to full health and think he’s fine to go - and he’s 20% of his old self. Have to hope the guy can make a full return - but he had an experimental surgery and hasn’t played his professional sport in likely 3 years before he plays again? Thinking he’ll be anywhere above 50% is honestly a massive ask (and below 60% at his salary you’ve gotta ask if that’s even worth it )
Was just defending him and was wrong for doing it. Talking shit about Seattle as a city sucked. Crazy that all the stuff he said in all his post game interviews with the Seahawks was complete bullshit.
I think staying in Colorado is the best thing for him. The chemistry with Mackinnon revived his career. If he plays elsewhere, I can guarantee he won't have the same production and he will regret leaving colorado.
They have to let Val go. He is a detriment to his own success and the team’s. When they needed him he let his demons win! Yet again. He’s a good player but he is no longer worth the money he was being paid or the headache. As for Landy, I can’t wait for him to comeback and make ppl eat their words.
On the Val comment from Gabe: It sounds like Gabe is being very pragmatic in his response. I think the layer of 'players are fed up with him' is pure speculation at this point. I have seen many media members automatically assume that he is 100% a pariah and will poison the locker room because the Avalanche are 'forced to keep him'. while that is a *possibility*, it is not a known thing at this point, and as such should probably not be reported on, because it colors the opinions of the entire fanbase.
It’s not an easy situation, for sure. You can understand if the some guys want him gone, but I don’t think that’s a unanimous feeling within the locker room.
Gabe Landeskog didn't speak English regularly until he was 16 years old. That continues to astound me. People throw the word amazing around way too much. His ability to communicate without an accent (maybe a bit of a Canadian one) in his non-native tongue is amazing. He must be an extremely intelligent person to have acquired that skill.
There's a reason this man was made the captain at 19. Gabe's value is more than what he brings on the ice. I'm glad Avs management isn't tossing him aside as so many fans would have them do. Looking forward to seeing him play again. And yes, bring back the Yeti foot!
This series died in game 4,,, everyone is talking about Dallas shutting down the Avs but to me Val coming out of this series shifted almost completely to the Stars side! Let’s not forget Val was the best goal scorer when he went out , take #53 out of the Stars and Dallas doesn’t win the series, I know that 1 guy shouldn’t make that big a difference but in a close series it does!
