Hi Gary thanks for the comprehensive review on the accessibility features on Vision Pro. I was lucky in that my daughter set up a just giving fund. And raised enough money to buy a vision pro. At present I use a tobyii dynamos as my main way of communicating. But I find the eye gaze a bit hit or miss.reading about the Pro and the the eye tracking I am hoping that it is quicker and far more accurate. I use dwell already so i new my way around it on my to bio iPad. I have MND so my speech is gone along with my use of my hands so dwell is the best option although I might be able to use the sound control that you favoured. However after using my Vision Pro now for a week I keep having trouble getting the dwell button to show up in the screen and without it there I can’t navigate my way around.I can’t even get the drop down menu when I look at the arrow when I look up. I wish there was a rest back button that took back to how you had it set up . How do you restart it when you can’t access any visual information? Can you get back to setting from the buttons on top if I get my wife to push them? It is very frustrating. Anyway I have subscribed to your channel and I hope to see more content about accessibility Ian
i really appreciated this video as i was setting up a vision pro for my nephew. there were a couple of things that i couldn’t figure out how to do without using my hands. i couldn’t power cycle the vision pro without going into the settings in order to shutdown which required a pinch and drag with my hand to confirm shutdown. the other option was physically turning the power cord off and on which also required hands. also, i couldn’t figure out how to change the immersion level without physically turning the digital crown. without being able to turn the vision pro on and off, i couldn’t get reset the vision pro when the accessibility features glitched. sometimes my access to the gestures menu would move out of my field of vision to a someplace i couldn’t see such as behind me. other times the dwell feature to tap and drag would glitch when trying to resize or move windows. the windows when start to move to the place my gaze directed but as it reached it’s final resting place would glitch and suddenly jump to another spot. any help you could provide would be most appreciated. thank you for this awesome video!
Hey Jason, thanks for your comment. I’ve had a similar issue with glitches. Restarting the Vision Pro via the AssistiveTouch menu usually fixes it for me. Or for power cycling, you might want to try using Siri voice commands. I use Siri to change environments. I use Siri to change environments. I don't think you can change immersion levels with Siri yet, but it's worth a try. You can however change the immersion levels through the AssistiveTouch menu as well. As for the assistive touch menu and dwell menu moving around, I've noticed that once you set them up initially, they stay in place. If they shift, just take the Vision Pro off and put it back on to reset their placement. Hope that helps!
Hey there! love your video. It took me a bit to figure it out, but did you figure out that if you triple click the "top button" not the "digital crown" you get different accessibility options on setup? Regardless, I get that the position of these aren't helpful for you, but I wanted to call out that difference. "Digital Crown" turns on the VoiceOver, "Top Button" gives immediate access to other items. :) Thank you so much for this video, as I'm looking into more of the accessibility options for this device. It's super cool! Dwell control is awesome! Thanks for showing me the "noises" as different navigation methods.
Thanks so much for your videos! So cool! Amazing tech. I just wanted to ask on behalf of my Mum - She has lost pretty much all mobility as she has ALS / Motor Neurone Disease. She's lost speech and at the moment can just about type using her iPhone but that's becoming extremely difficult. The Apple Vision Pro looks like it could help her communicate with us, but she has very limited movement in her neck. So before we try to get one shipped over to the UK for her, I just wondered if you think it would still be useful for us seeing as she can't really move her neck? We're pretty desperate to keep her communicating with us, so would appreciate your advice. Thank you so so much. Gary
Hey man, I’m a med student, I met a patient that had a stroke and can’t talk and can only move his eyes, he spends his entire day without having any activity, can apple vision work for him?
Since the AVP has eye tracking features, I would've start with this. Before any hands movements, first thing after the "Hello" intro would be asking if you would like accessibility features on, then with VoiceOver and eyes movement you would adjust your settings. Blinking replace clicking for CTA buttons.
All good ideas. Unfortunately they have to sync your eyes first so you can control it with your eyes. But definitely an easier way to turn on accessibility features
This is awesome and it’s what I knew would be a killer feature when this device was first announced. My literal first words were “Imagine if this came out while Stephen Hawking was still alive”. I’m thrilled to see these features in action and I hope you and others with disabilities keep getting tools like this to make life a little easier to manage.
For access ability what if you closed one eye and looked at the thing you want to adjust and move and then blinked the other and could drag thing to where your looking and to let go you just open your closed eye. And to tap you just winked with a selected winking eye .
I feel like the only way they could’ve obviously did it is do you set it up you could’ve enabled voice control just like you did and instead of saying the name of whatever you wanted to go to you could say show numbers and I think you can do show numbers always by just saying that and if you can’t, I think there is an option where you can just always have it if you click the top button or the side button of the power button three times you can turn it on and off whenever you want but you can’t do that even if this option was available on the digital crown to tap it three times or click at three times and then accessibility would turn on and off for voice control only so you can use it but if you wanted to, you could show numbers only or show numbers continuously and then instead of saying the name of what you can just call for a second number that option corresponds to to go into things to make it much easier for you to use
It would be cool if like on Mac, where if you sit there and don't do anything for a period of time (VoiceOver instructions turn on). With the Vision Pro, it would be cool if you don't do anything, it allows you to start to navigate with Voice Control...
Hi, thank you for the great content that you have shown me in the last few days. I was not really aware that there are that many obstacles for people with reduced mobility and/or reduced haptic capabilities. After watching a few videos (from other RU-vidrs), it dawns on me that the Vision Pro may be one of the most transformative technologies for people with physical limitation. I have been keeping track on the current situation in eastern Europe and i have seen many people with amputations and heavy bodily trauma. Having lost limbs or having lost the ability to use them is very limiting in life. I hope that the thousands of people who have to suffer such grueling fate worldwide can get a bit closer to the "normal" way of interaction, at least in the digital realm. Maybe there is a way for us to overcome these limitations and enable less physically able people to not only *participate* but to *contribute* beyond their physical means. I think that this is a very important development especially since anyone can *suddenly* be part of this demographics. Better medic support worldwide will most likely increase this demographic over time. There are millions of people, able in mind but hindered by physical realities, who want to contribute but can't.
This is amazing! I wonder if a one eye blink, winking, could be used as a click also. If it’s accurate enough, that would be an amazing control input. I hope Apple works to make this even better!
a blind person tried this and said they could see better than real life. blind arent usually fully blind just partially so the vision pro makes it easier to see
Amazing video. keep up the great work! I need to learn more about this accessible technology. I also mean on the phone. I simply don’t know enough about it. Subscriber #105!
I am missing my thumb on my left hand and also can't supinate with my left arm. When I went to demo it in the apple store they employees seemed pretty unfamiliar with some of the options for those with disabilities! I hope that they improve their training because a lot of these features would have helped out! Awesome video, I was waiting to see more info about this!
I'm sorry you experienced that. I would definitely request another demo and ask for team member that was trained in the accessibility features. There should be at least one person from the store that was trained
Millions and millions isn't true. Not because of the inaccessibility, but the price. Yes, this video is indeed necessary, but not necessarily every person will have this device.
Millions and millions is true. Maybe not today but this is going to be the technology going forward. There's over 36 million smartphone users with a disability in the United States and in the future millions of those users will have one of these. I appreciate your perspective, thank you.
@@EqualAccessibility ok, this may be the USA reality, but in different countries, this ought to be overnumbered. Could reach millions and millions, but a mobile phone is much cheaper than this, beginning at the launching price. Maybe in 10 years, but looking at countries like Indonesia, Brazil, and India, a headset wouldn't be a reality for the next years.
Meta quest 3 is currently cheaper than the average smartphone. Its still far from mass adoption, but there is an affordable price point for this technology. It will only become more affordable and more widely adopted. @@LucasGasparotto
@@EqualAccessibility you need a helper for initial crown hold for ipd and then to triple tap the button the left to get the accessibility options and one tap for dwell. Then again to setup persona.
