You can't please everyone. Somewhere out there, there's a random person complaining the tooltips in Hoyo's games are overly long, and there'll be someone who thinks game devs should make the extra effort to ensure everything is properly clarified. I will be the first to agree that the tooltips in Zenless Zone Zero are problematic, BUT, if anything this video, alongside countless Reddit threads are nitpicking and adding additional pressure to the game devs to focus on things that don't constitute an urgency. The problem that I see here ISN'T long tooltips, but wonky translations, because let's face it, the game is made in Chinese first, then localized for international players. As a Chinese AND a translator who has seen the tooltip in its source language, then comparing it to the translated version, it's clear the translators are struggling with articulation. It happens. When you spend too much time processing the source language and trying to make sense of it, you tend to lose your grasp with the translated language. I.e. People would assume a Chinese to English translator would demonstrate better competency in translating the sentences into English, but the actual reality is you're spending so much time dumbing the source language down to the translated language, that you're processing more of it in Chinese. And then this happens because translators and QC-ers are stuck in that vicious cycle. Citing ADHD as a reason for Hoyo to fix their tooltips when they're being overly careful isn't a them-problem, it's the players' problem. First step to resolving said issue is to have awareness of your ADHD, and learn to digest information in bite-sized pieces. That's also the problem with the current generation, they expect everything to be quick, easy, and efficient, and that's just not possible.

It’s not the length that’s the issue, it’s the terminology used. People don’t understand some game descriptions regardless, and would prefer more concise language usage.

I went into this fully agreeing with the title, but the Caesar part almost spun me back around. Dead End is one of the simplest descriptions. "Nearby " isn't strictly necessary, but it's one more word for the sake of accuracy. Similarly, "all directions" succinctly adds specificity over "AOE" , which could mean a lot of things. If they made both suggested changes, if I were to guess at what the move looked without prior knowledge, I'd assume she throws the shield and hits enemies in a straight line. These are things you'll quickly learn upon using the move anyway, but I think they're succinct enough and add enough context that they don't really add to the argument here. For "invulnerability while using the skill", I guess they could shorten it to just invulnerable, true enough. For the sake of nitpicking on the Parry Counter point, you can be hit by traps. All that said, yeah they can get pretty ridiculous and changes would be nice lol

I didn't know where you were going to go with this so I decided to hear you out but I disagree. I like the depth of combat skills and the descriptions are simple to understand if you actually just read them. I know multiple paragraphs of text are overwhelming. I'm 100% sure that I'm only using like 2 of my agents to their fullest potential. And I'm building 6 teams so that's not great but I steadily learn more about them as time goes on and always have those descriptions if I'm curious about something. The tutorials that EVERY agent has teaches you the basics of the kit. If that's the only thing you learn about an agent, it'll be enough to carry you through the story content and most of the side content. It's only if you're pushing Shiyu or going hard in Hollow Zero that you actually have to play at a high level that requires in-depth knowledge of your agents' kits. I think that fact alone is what makes ZZZ's combat casual-friendly. You're focused too much on the paragraphs that most people won't read but will be fine without. Out of the dozens of streamers I've seen play, only a few in the end-game even seem to understand their teams but everyone clears the story without struggling. Also, "I don't know which one specifically is Enchanted Moonlit Blossoms" as you scroll next to it clearly labeled 🤦‍♂For the Caesar description of Dead End, if you removed nearby or only said AOE, it would sound like a ranged attack where she throws her shield. It'd be easy to assume that's a ranged attack that cause damage to a group of enemies like Zhu Yuan EX Special Attack or Nicole's EX Special Attack. A player wouldn't necessarily understand it without using it. I get that a large percentage of players don't like to read a lot of text but I like the depth of combat. The only part I agree with are the potential improvements. I like the idea of adding advanced tutorials to truly understand an agent's kit and the developer's intentions. I'm sure that would intimidate someone who just wants to try an agent to see if they like them so they should keep the current ones and then make those unlock the advanced tutorials for players that really want to master an agent. Then the game could guide players through the details of the skills in a way that's easier to understand. Also, reduced vs expanded descriptions would be good just to reduce that point of friction for players who see a huge block of text and immediately back out. It would ease them in better. TLDR: I like the big detailed paragraphs but improvements could be made

They could definitely use HSR system of a simplified, concise description of the skill with a button to view the exact description with all of its numbers, language, etc

For some clarity, Caesar's shield scales with BASE IMPACT. BASE IMPACT here is the same thing as INITIAL ATTACK (includes Impact from Disk Drive Main Stats and 2pc Effect and W-Engine Advance Stat). So the Transmorpher's Impact bonus does not effect her shield but will still provide impact stat (I would call this COMBAT IMPACT). Huge shoutout to UltimateAnimeGuru for pointing this out.

Considering pulling for her sig it's almost the same as pulling for a new character, sounds like a terrible deal (for f2p and people with self control) considering her buffs do not scale with impact. You will just get a thicker shield and 18% dmg (not 18% dps increase).

I keep hearing everyone talking about how her shield strength changes with what W-engine or disk drives you use, but unless I just can't read the skill description says the shield strength scales with BASE impact no? So the only point in building impact is getting more daze.

I believe that this should state "initial impact" which means things like Disk Drive Main Stats and 2 PC sets will apply. Things like W-Engine passives will not.

The Transmorpher’s Impact bonus doesn’t effect her shield, it’s her initial Impact that effects it. So in battle buffs like Transmorpher’s passive or her own kit buff don’t apply.

I have no idea where he is pulling these numbers from even if OT did work he is calming that with OT shield hp is higher than hellfire gears even though at r5 OT only gives 16% impact where as HG gives 18%

Having a section comparing M1 and Signature Engine is great to have in a video like this! I usually like defensive characters in action games, but I'm leaning super hard into Anomaly in ZZZ so Caesar must be skipped.

I don't understand why many people say that the team of Jane, Caesar, Bernice will be a great team? I have nothing against it, but why is Seth worse than Caesar in this case? Did her buffs interrupt Seth's buffs?

Caesar usually takes Lucy slot. No Seth is fighting against Burnice. And honestly we don't know who is really better yet. Caesar buff is better than Seth's buff but Seth is needed for Jane core passive. So it's either Seth or Burnice for jane passive.

@@jijidu69 Caesar's buffs may be better, but the Seth gives an accelerated accumulation of anomalies. As for me, this is better than the pure damage that Caesar gives. But yes, we'll find out when Bernice comes out.

@@MilesP-r2q Maths shows that Caesar buff is just better over a full fight. Remember that Jane already has a lot of ap so she benefits much more form the atk buff, but yeah Seth is needed anyway. At the end of the day seth is free, while burnice isn't. If she isn't way better, then she's an easy skip.

My primary team since the game came out has been Soldier 11/Ben/Lucy. I've managed to clear everything the game has thrown at us with them: 11/11 Withering Garden, Inferno Reap, and all the Shiyu so far (granted I didn't S rank the final level of the first critical Shiyu, but, I assume most f2p players didn't in general since we were stuck with level 50 agents.) Ben is just stupidly fun, having more defense options in combat just feels good. Needless to say, as much as I love the big bear man I am super excited to have a S rank character who plays similarly. I think I just enjoy not being so dependant on stun. I have both Ellen and Zhu (lucky pulls) but that playstyle feels a bit more rotational/automated to me. Swapping in, getting a stun off in a few seconds, and watching the chain attacks pop off before your big burst rotation. Defense play (well at least with Ben since he's all we had most of the game) has felt more dynamic/interesting. I feel the same way about anomaly units too but I decided to skip Jane for Caesar since I can just get Grace off the selector eventually and run her for a similar gameplay experience. I doubt we'll see another S rank defense unit for a while.

"W-engines" are gonna be a big concern moving forward cause Seth is making it look like if they keep up with this design philosophy going forward it'll be a tiny bit like Hi3 where if u don't have the sig your S T R U G G L E B U S S I N and HARD. I really hope it doesn't end up being this way. Seth and Jane's best team though definitely seems to be Jane, Seth, Grace though. At least that's the best feeling I've had

Someone made a math for Training Course and it would take about 10 days to level up from 40 to 50. Which for some may sound quite a lont time, and it is. But: 1) It's free. 2) You really should plan for a long game.

Excellent recap! I wonder how big of a deal it truly is to make every single character walk out of combat. I certainly hope they won't start using generic models for all characters in order to achieve that... I'm not loving Burnice's high pitch voice. Gotta wait to see how she exactly sounds in combat, because this might be a voice-skip...

This engine is perfect for Seth it boosts his overall shield like crazy and once you get the damage gear needed to transition him to a dps this is perfect.

It would, but seth can't use the effect due to it being an attacker W-engine, while seth is a Defender (the effect won't apply)

Rina's ex skill does anomaly damage = anomaly build up. Which works with Jane's passive. Plus she is an amazing support that works great off field. Thats why she is best in slot.

i think people are having a problem with the "leader slot" ,is there an actual ingame boost to said character for being in that slot? becuase starting with someone like lucy to get her boars out immediately then rolling into dps and stun or additional support is so so much easier to play.

I think Anby's representation makes sense; she's a serviceable stunner for Zhu's team and she's free. Someone like Koleda is a standard banner character and not as accessible, so it makes sense that a 5* standard banner character isn't going to be overly represented vs free/limited characters, right?

Likely yes. Not necessarily because she provides more buffs than he does, she doesn't but the fact that Caesar is physical while seth is not is extremely relevant. Against physical weak content which is where you will be playing Jane most of the time, Caesar will likely outperform Seth as a Jane support if that content is not also electric weak.

If Caesar comes out as is, probably, but, specifically for Jane, Caesar is more of a sidegrade, maybe even a slight downgrade if you have a lot of Seth dupes. She will be more valuable for a secondary team because there's no one else who benefits as much from Seth as the rat but there are a lot of options for characters that would benefit from Caesar's kit

@@hua.. even in Caesar's current form Seth buffs Jane more. The issue isn't how good seth is for Jane it's their lack of elemental synergy. Enemies which are phys weak are very rarely also Electric weak so you're going to run into matchups where Jane is really good but Seth is bad because the enemy is electric resistant; that won't happen with Caesar.

@@RafaelBanks69 That makes no sense, them both being phys doesn't do anything for Jane. Content being electric resistant does not matter, Jane stays on field 99% of the time, Seth only comes in for occasional buff refreshes. If anything, Seth offers more synergy if you wanna do some cheeky build where both take some field time, because you can at least build him for some AP and get random disorder procs here and there. Both Caesar and Seth will have the exact same role in a team with Jane, come in for buff refreshes then get the fuck out, but Seth is only really good (right now) for Jane and you can save Caesar for a second really good team because her buffs are a bit more universal

@@hua.. It wouldn't do anything if resistance only affected damage. Resistance also reduces daze buildup and anomaly buildup. Seth actually contributes a significant amount of Daze for Jane teams which is relevant because you're usually replacing your stunner for him. He also has increased anomaly app to help Jane proc disorders which also get reduced by resistance. Not that it's unplayable but it definitely won't be better than just replacing him with Caesar when content is not favorable for him because all he is really contributing when content is electric weak is a 100 anomaly proficiency buff. Caesar on the other hand is contributing Daze, Anomaly buildup, damage increase and a 1000 attack buff. The point being, weakness and resistance in this game is really important because it doesn't only affect your damage but also every single offensive metric.

I am convinced ppl are not building grace right. I run jane grace rina, and i use jane and rina to get some good dmg in and when grace has at least 2 ex specials saved up i switch to her and in one combo i can proc shock and switch back to jane. Grace does not require a lot of field time. She at least takes up as much if not less than seth

Yup. AM on Disc 6 + Core E makes her build Shock really fast. She, much like Anby, can be run in pretty much any team as her additional ability isn't all that important

Teams are so portant for real, I mainly use Ellen joe with SUKAKO and Nicole / Luci. Jane Doe with Luci / anby and Billy /grace (depends on the situation). I just get Nekomata and her C1, PIPPER /grace and Luci / koleda

Right now we’re in the state of the game where as long as you have a decent to top tier dps you can basically roll whatever and do decently well. However, as time goes on, I expect the importance of defense and support characters will become greater sooner rather than later. Right now is the best time to start thinking of teams to develop for the future

I got the two top teams ready and am skipping Jane and any offensive characters until I notice them falling off. Until then I'm fully investing into supports and supportive defense characters. Gonna wait out Caesar until she's properly tested after release and then decide whether I spend my guaranteed on her or not. I was originally going to pull for horizontal elemental coverage, but ditched that plan, because so long as stuff doesn't resist it's still a cakewalk.

If I have no plan to build Seth at all but want to activate Jane's passive by putting him on the team, (would use either Nekomata or Nicole as 3rd) is there a team configuration that would allow me to never swap to him by quick or defensive assist?
