I'm Oyinda, YA, and fantasy author, and this is my RU-vid channel. Welcome to my writing vlog. I take inspiration from nature, slow living, and travel. I talk about my childhood in Nigeria and how that inspired my writing and books.

Wow. I got goosebumps. You have such a well developed voice in your writing. I'm saving this to watch piece by piece, it is so rich with visuals, style, and narrative. The balance between a structured story and a meandering exploration is so beautifully struck, a conclusion feels like a invatation, and a begining feels definitive
RU-vid recommended your channel for me. I’m from Brazil, and was amazing watch your video, you are adorable and i love all the journals ❤ You must share about your “three homes”, i’d love to know the countries
Thank you for sharing your journal collection! There is nothing sad about loving beautiful journals - every writer I know (including me) geeks out over stationery. I adore the journals with the hot air balloons; I've been using the peacock journals by Rifle Paper Co. lately, and they are kind of the same style as your journals with the hot air balloons.
@@thefantasystoryteller I have to try the moving around part, I hear that often. I take walks every now and then but I need to get a little more active sometimes lol
@@thefantasystoryteller Thank you. I was trying to come up with an outlining system that worked for me. I hate outlines. Maybe I will do a rough outline also. ❤
Wow as a writer and multi award winning poet of more than two decades, I am so glad that I just found your channel and I agree wholeheartedly with content. In order for me to write well, I have to read well ie literature diet and watching my genre intake. Imposter Syndrome for me is a constant shadow, the carriage of internal mayhem allowed to grow organically from vine to vine or as it is chapter to chapter. I discovered quite intensely that in order for me to think well, overall I walk up to 40 kilometres plus per week. Walking clears the mental cobwebs and for the most part solidifies some mind bending creative narrative. So much so I have to jot thoughts down as soon as I am back home in the front door. As well I find your writing room very inspiring. I live for walking, reading, writing. I don’t smoke or vape, detest the thought of gambling my hard earned dosh and found alcohol once upon a time to be a total thief of creativity and bore. Work on what you believe in. Believe in your work. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Yvette, 😊
Hello Yvette, Walking does clear the mind and nature in general. I'm surprised more people aren't out in nature jotting ideas down. Sadly reading has also declined steadily and it's heartbreaking to see. Thank you for such lovely compliments 😊
Quick question, I love to write in cursive too since I was trained in it in school. But then... do you really convert all of this to typing? I guess you have to right? In today's day and age? Or is the cursive stuff just for your ownself or private projects after your paid work (which I'm assuming in 2024... has to be typed)? Thank you! Glad I came across this video!
Yes I write everything all down first as it is much easier for me and then I type it all up. Some find it tedious but I'm more immersed in the story when writing.
@@thefantasystoryteller wow that’s wonderful, and spiritually more sound too! (I honestly wouldn’t spend time around devices if I didn’t have to). Thank you for sharing! New author here…
Where is the rest of this video? Is there more? I REALLY want to hear all of it. Man... I'm feeling this way. I need help out of this dungeon. You are such an inspiration ❤
I love your videos. So inspiring. May I ask you a question? Why do you write by hand? I know that a lot of writers write by hand and then they type in the words. Writers have different reasons for doing this. What is your reason? Would love to know. Or do you have a video on your channel talking about this?❤🙂
This doesn't have anything to do with the video, but I'll say it anyway. I'm soooo happy to see a person of color with a writing channel on RU-vid. I don't see that much. As a young biracial girl who wants to be a published author, it's just really inspiring. I hope you have a good day/night! ❤
I really resonate with the message of the beginning of this video. I hit the wall often, but it’s all about persevering and pushing yourself to write even if you feel like you don’t have the words.
Gosh I relate to this so much especially right now. Sometimes there's a very fine line... it's like... (potentially) profitable maladaptive daydreaming. xD
Your handwriting looks stunning! Do you have any tips for people who experience hand pain when writing a lot by hand? Thanks a lot and keep up the great work 🌸
Hello. I don't experience hand pain. It might have to do with the type of pen you're holding, the manner in which you're holding it and so on. I'd say get used to comfortably holding a pen and write for short sprints gradually building up.
If i don't see oyinda video and gives me inspirational and enthousiasm my struggling of writing wouldn't stop and she encourages to write but i am really struggling finding the time.
Reminds me of one of the Tom Clancy books. Where the character Jack Ryan's wife would do that. She would say if you don't write it down when you think of it it's like it never happened.
3:39 reminded me of an author i studied in university who was seen by everyone as rude because they would talk to him or even go out to lunch and, if he got an idea, he would just open his little notebook and write it down, it didn't matter if someone was talking or not hahaha maybe not the best way to handle it socially but hey, it clearly works!
Hey Amira. I'm actually working on a video regarding AI now. No I don't think AI can totally replace creativity as we give it the ideas. However what could happen in the long run is a more complex issue.
Thank you for this video! I've been wanting to step out of my comfort zone to pursue my passion for writing and this confirmed that money does not matter to me because I absolutely love it so I should just go ahead and do it :)
I discovered this channel, particularly this video, by pure chance; and im so, **so** grateful i did. I struggle with depression and borderline debilitating anxiety, and it was starting to make me doubt my writing. This felt like a warm hand pulling me up out of that pit, a reminder on why what i'm doing is important. Thank you for making this.
