I m 5'9" also with a 31.5" inseam. The 56 felt good. I tried the 54 and it was a bit small. I'm also looking into a 2023 SL5 AXS leftover with a $700 savings.
Hi man. Actually "ravel" is the name of the type of road you were on. They were old train tracks converted into leisure paths. The arrow just shows you what way to go to find the next part of the ravel ;)
you are unlucky to ride during the wettest winter/spring season in the last couple of years! The ground is saturated, meaning puddles will stay way longer... I'm going to save this route for later, thanks for the info and inspiration!
On April 21 we were on the same train to Amsterdam (I was with a yellow Checkpoint if you remember), when you were returning from the finish. And now this video pops up in my recommendations out of nowhere. Just… wow.
Good work! I have a small bike channel on myself, but it is mostly in russian language. I came here from reddit, and I can say that for such small channel your video is pretty damn good. Add some jokes to your speeches and make speaking parts smaller I think. Thank you for your work making this video for us all!
@@tycjantrzpiola right now I’m building up my endurance. I live in Austin Texas and I want to ride 90 miles to a town called Fredericksburg. But the roads have lots of traffic around here.
Placing all the luggage weight lower can help a lot having a better flow riding. Maybe a lightweight rack adds 300gr but moves all the weight down. Without rack, maybe fork racks mounted 2 front and 2 rear would be enought for the volume of storage you need and the weight would be 40 or 50 cm lower. 😀 really excited to see the race results, good luck!
Smart move on the 50mm tires. The confidence will make you much faster. I'd add a redshift suspension stem to take the edge off bumps even more. You're gonna have a blast with that setup.
@@tycjantrzpiola Yeah, definitely seems to be the sweet spot for gravel. Also you can drop the air pressure for a softer, grippier ride over the rough stuff and still have plenty of tire left to not bottom out and top them off harder for pavement and speed.
Spoke to a guy running 2x, he said 50mm Ramblers were hitting his front derailleur. Other than that I'm happy to hear 50mm works! I ran 2.2 inch RaceKings on 650b and protected all tight spots with protective tape, can recommend when going over the recommended clearance in general

Thanks for sharing this very useful info. I've never did an ultra, but I'm thinking about it. The 6 hours sleeping makes sense. I'm not a big fan of gels either, but I love fresh dates! Lots of good stuff and necessary sugars in them and widely available in Marocco 😉
