It’s a bummer that a bunch of the starters decided to drag their feet and make toddler throws at the hoop when they were wide open. Sitting out certainly seemed like the best place for them to be. The bench players played better. Good for them. They were active and racing around trying to make something happen. The right decision isn’t always the easiest one. Well done, Coach Sides.
So these second half players just parrot what "coach" Side said. Come on. Team needs to back each other. My street ball was more supportive. That is just sad! Coach lead the team exactly where it went tonight. Maybe we can Micheal Jackson with the Man In The Mirror more next game ladies. How
This coach is horrible. Her offense sucks her defense is non existent and these players don’t want to play for her or for each other. Boston has struggled but coach keeps her in to get her some confidence but she benches her rookie number one pick you don’t think that bothers her confidence. Rookies have good games they have bad games cause there rookies there learning you don’t bench them you let them play thru it that is how they learn. This team is bad they don’t play together mitchell and wallace played at guards and had 2 assists combined. Inevitably this coach needs to be fired and this roster needs to be overhauled.
Fever is dragging defensively. Potentially in an effort to not pickup any fouls but that’s the cost of playing defense. You get 5 a game. Get set for offensive fouls. Reduce turnovers. Chase the ball. Have your hands UP! These girls shouldn’t even have a ball rack at their next practice playing like this.
This was awful. I am praying for this Fever Team. Damn- I have never heard a “Coach” throw their own Team under the bus and dodge accountability, as much as Sides. It’s no wonder the Team is not Gelling… Where is the Leadership? Where is the uplifting? All I know is I wouldn’t thrive or be able to function at my best in such a dismal environment. 😢
The bottom line is that this coach does not take responsibility for anything. She has several selfish players on that team. Mitchell is the most selfish. She never gives up the ball and she will do anything not to pass to Caitlin. The team does not know how to set screens or pick and roll. I like Boston as a person but something is definitely wrong with her focus. She seems not to know where she is in relationship to the basket or the rim. Fagbendle knows how to play with Caitlin. She and Caitlin like the uptempo game. And tonight, I never had seen Caitlin walk the ball up court so much. She plays fast and this coach is continually trying to take Caitlin out of her natural skills that she has honed since she was 5 years old. I am a post graduate alum of the Iowa Hawkeyes and personally know that coaching staff. The reason Caitlin did so well with Coaches Bluder, Jensen and Fitzgerald is because all three of them knew uptempo ball because they played it and coached it. Case in point, watch Kate Martin and Megan Gustafson on the LV Aces. Both played in that system with the aforementioned coaches. They play fast. Coach sides might have done some good things at other places. However, she is not doing any good for Caitlin Clark, the rest of the team. I have coached basketball and played basketball and been a student of the game since I was in junior high. What I am seeing from this coach and how she is using her players is a recipe for disaster.
How about maybe her team, especially Caitlin, do not trust her because she has shown that what they say or text her in private, she will tell the world.

She literally just blamed 4 of her 5 starters for not showing effort? Wow! In any other job if 80% of your staff isn't doing their job right, it's your fault--the boss.
Sides loss CC when she exposes to the media her private conversation. Sides should bench CC for the rest of the season or trade her. I don't think CC will play for sides anymore. Thanks to Sides CC has a new nickname: " The cookie monster ".
CC does have bad attitude when she is losing. She literally gives up and starts whining to the refs for fouls instead of hustling back and playing defense. She is flopping at lot as well. I agree with benching anyone not giving 110% . I don’t do well with brats either. Boston is a humble player and is the natural leader for team. Indiana might end up doing worse with CC on the team. The team tends to play better when CC is not in. Notice how Kate continues to praise A’ja and her leadership and building her up. I feel like she continues to say this because in Iowa they made everything about CC. But she didn’t win those games by herself but the Iowa coach seemed to allow that toxic culture. I feel like this coach isn’t about to kiss CC and her delusional fan’s arse.
Just say you don't like Caitlin. You do not have to make up stuff and act like you are giving constructive feedback. And Kate Martin is doing what she did in Iowa, leeching onto the best player on the team.
Everyone is a shooter!!!!! And if that is what they want to do, they need to make their shots. FEVER do not have any defenders! No one stops the drive. They just let them drive to the basket. Sides needs to put at least 2 to play defense and challenge with hard fouls and keep replacing them with others, just let them foul out. It will slow the other teams down, take them out of their rhythm. Right now all of them make a defensive play to the ball and bam, 3 pointer because player left alone. But everyone is afraid of touching anyone. The refs call fouls for shadowing or just standing with hands up. Well, let’s make them hard fouls. It has to sting so that they know it is not an easy two. Smith and Wilson should be dominating. Smith will make a good play once a quarter. She needs to play like she means it all the time and needs to play tougher D. Wilson? I don’t see how she won rookie of the year last year. She can’t move or jump. She doesn’t have a post up game. She gets her shot blocked all the time. She needs to develop a hook or at least a 3/4 hook shot off the backboard. But she is not consistent enough. Why did they draft CC??? She is a shooter and ball handler, why is wheeler and mitchell dribbling the ball. Fever would have been better off drafting Cam and letting the sparks pickup CC. Honestly. That way Sides can keep Mitchell and Wheeler happy and maybe try better. And the sparks would have let CC run free. And there are big ARENAS in LA that they wouldn’t mind selling out !! But hindsights 20/20. And I don’t know WNBA I was only watching to see CC drop the BOMBS!!! from downtown!
The only thing that will help this team is getting rid of Sides. The owners better wise up or they're gonna look at tonight as the highlight of their franchise. Anyone that takes out a star player for the majority of the game and then blocks her from post game interviews is not a coach, she's a tyrant and needs to find another job that is more in line with her abilities, like a job at the DMV.
Man where did Indiana find this coach? This the best they could find? My goodness. This lady doesn’t have a clue what she’s doing. It seems like she’s miserable too! She is ready to be fired.
The amount of offensive rebounds Connecticut got & second & third attempts is insanity. Not very familiar with this coach but I’m starting to wonder about her…
