If you have any sense you will go far away from this once gorgeous island, now ruined by greed and mass tourism. The height of the season is pure hell when cruise ships gorge thousands of people into the villages...Its mass overcrowding, its unsafe, and the infrastructure cannot cope!!
I think that’s a valid comment. This was our first visit to Santorini with both kids and grandparents on a family trip, so we decided on cruising as the easiest economical approach. However, the heavy crowds are definitely a challenge to navigate.

Livorno is a bad city to first time cruise tourists. The local government grabs money from tourists if they take a city bus and train. Tourists not only buy the bus tickets but also need to scan each ticket on a scan machine to have the time stamp. The government employees get onto each bus or train to check tourists’ tickets. If there is no scanned stamp on the ticket, each tourist will be fined 40 euros. There is no warning sign to reminder tourists to scan bus or train tickets. This is a bad city to visit.

We fell in line to go back down around 7:45pm. Took about an hour to wait in the cable car line. Got into the cable car at 8:45pm. Waited in another line to go on to the tender boat to bring you back to the ship. Got on board the ship at 9:40pm. Have fun!
Hi, we will be cruising out to Athens from Istanbul, could you tell me if it is easy to leave the port in the morning and return to the ship in the afternoon, from other's video, it showed there were many check points for passport, luggage,..drugs...etc before entering the ship. Thank you for your information.
Unfortunately, I don’t know what it’s like to cruise from Istanbul into Athens, but the cruise port in Athens is Piraeus, which was about 45 minutes drive away from Athens city center. Moreover, there was traffic getting out of Piraeus port. We had prearranged transfer and even the van took a while to arrive into port because of traffic. I’m sure there are alternative transportation options that I’m not familiar with. Good luck with your planning!

I came across your channel about a few days ago during a huge family cruise to Greece, Turkey and Italy with the grandparents. Now London and Ireland. You do realize that you’re giving the best geographic class and international food tasting to your 2 beautiful kids. Most kids don’t eat their veggies but someone is liking fried Calamari! Thank you so much Philip! Our ship was scheduled to depart at 9:30pm and we fell in line just before 8:00pm. The line took about an hour and then probably another 20 minutes from the bottom of the cable car in Fira to the ship. But I’m thinking in September the line will be a little better than when we went in July. Have a great trip!

Been 3 times on a cruise visiting in August again but staying on ship as 4 ships there in total and cant be bothered with the Queues at cable car. Will have a lovely relaxing day on the ship😊
We told the driver that we wanted to go see Pisa and Florence and he dropped us off and picked us up. When he dropped us off in the city center of Florence we just walked around and found our own places to eat and shop. Then afterwards the driver had a couple nice surprises and brought us to the view point and asked if we had extra time to drive through Tuscany on the way back to our ship
My girlfriend and I went to Santorini last week. It was an amazing place to visit and perfect time, as it wasn't hot and there wasn't huge crows like in summer time. We stayed at the Blue art cave airbnb, simply beautiful! One day we will come back.
Hi! The pick up in Fira is at the bottom, of Fira where the cruise ship tenders drop you off there’s a little shop at the bottom there where you can buy tickets. It drops you off at the bottom of Oia and then you have to hike up a little bit where you can catch a free shuttle bus into the center of Oia. Have a great trip!
Hey, thank you so much for the video. We’re gonna be going in June and seems like you had a great time and thank you so much for posting this. I just have a couple questions when you got off the cruise ship you said you took a shuttle to the center city is that something that’s just included from the cruise or do you have to purchase that separately? And also you said you found them in the tourism center was it easy to find? Did you have it preplanned or was it something you just winged and it wouldn’t be too hard to wing yourself with a family of seven like you did? Seems quite overwhelming and then I look at your video and I just feel so much better about the upcoming trip so thank you for what you’re doing.
