I am a Ghanaian and I want to apply for the mining job in Australia. I am a professional heavy duty welder in a mining site in Ghana. Please I need need help
There was a whinging pkiwi on Ch7 this week saying nothing to do. 1. Make some friends. 2. Go for exploring walks. 3. Start a card playing club. Learn canasta (no gambling). 4. Gym. 5. Find people with similar music/books to you. I lived 3yrs in a mining Town and we kept busy out of work hours, but saved pots of money. We all ended up travelling. I also did 1yr in a mining camp. Loved it.
If you allocated a permanent room like I was at area C I ended up buying a second bass guitar to leave locked in my room cupboard! Usually though you will be aloud up to 10KG of checked in luggage. My bass a music man sub serious and hardshell case weighed in about 8kg so if you have an accoustic guitar even better👍 biggest thing though is the size of the camp! If your traveling on a jet with virgin or Cobham you will be fine, but if you fly with someone like Rex airways you might have some trouble with bringing a guitar. I brang my PlayStation up with HDMI cord. If you ever start FIFO remember to go with TELSTRA!!!! Very important! Vodafone and Optus so on won't work at most sites and you'll have no Netflix or Amazon 🤣 a very boring two weeks for me the first time I went up 😑
Music was my Saviour up there! I had a Fender rumble like 15W amp with headphones ,3 band EQ with audio jack to play along to your favourite tunes without angering anyone trying to sleep 👍 some people drink lots of alcohol to deal with being away some people go to the gym everyday to fight the blues.. I couldn't wait to finish my 12 hours day so I could go jam out for a couple hours and then hit the sack 😁 I improved alot because I had so much uninterrupted time to practice and learn. Best of luck If you do go up!
I worked for ESS at area C and Mulla Mulla The blankets were changed mid swing! On a 14 day roster. And always when coming into a new room! They were always caged and sent back to Perth to be cleaned and sent back. However the blankets are usually just crap anyway. Always best to bring your own if you can. I did and I worked for ESS 🤣 Tip trick to catch a lazy housekeeper Mark the blanket with a little texter somewhere inconspicuous 😉 As a housekeeper myself I always tried to make the rooms as fresh as I could. Not easy in that environment and under the immense workload and sometimes short staffed . But dirty linen is just really really bad 😠 or bathroom. People gotta live in those tiny and sometimes very depressing rooms.
@@tyronemayger4090 Hey! It got worse for Sodexo at West Angelas. I checked into my room and the bed sheets had baby oil all over them and I requested for TWO weeks to clean the room. They did... just as I checked out! It was disgusting to find a dirty fridge with additional penis erectile cream to boot 🤢
@@PH_1964 Dude ....... I just started with Sodexo and that's where they are sending me 😂🤣😂🤣😂 Damn, thats savage. I was told I would be doing bar and retail there but I have no doubt I will be cleaning rooms as well. That's really savage. What can you tell me about the camp ? Hit me when as much as you know 🤣 would be appreciated because I'm heading there within the next couple of weeks
@@PH_1964 Honestly even though it's Rio Tinto from what I've seen of the camp.. it looks just like packsaddle only smaller 😂 old and Cruddy ish. I bet the rooms are small like 3m X 3m Lino floor and a bathroom that's probably more orange than an Oompa Loompa 🤣 What's Sodexo food like there.. ESS was so hit and miss. Some nights were good some nights were bad some nights were so bad you wondered whether or not the chef's were actually fucking chefs 😂 Ess chef told me BHP allowed 12 bucks a day per person on site for breakfast lunch and dinner and crib 🤣 3 bucks for brekky 3 for lunch 3 for dinner and 3 for crib 🤣 I said considering that maybe the food isn't that bad! Mulla mulla was the best site for food! And rooms. Brand new of course and BHPs flagship camp so ESS worked so hard making everything perfect all the time to keep the tender. It worked ESS now have all BHP sites for the next 10 bloody years! Ive heard Sodexo food...is really bad 😂 Funny that you think a French company would be great at hospitality 🤣
@@PH_1964 Worst part is. ESS and Sodexo one being English and the other french have like this rivalry almost. Constantly undercutting each other to win contracts to look after these camps! The only losers are the workers who stay at these camps! The mining giants rub their hands together and say wow these guys undercut each to other to win a camp and we save money! But then the quality drops immensely 🤔 for some strange unknown reason that's definitely not related to money and paying a utility 68-70K a year for a 2/1 swing working 12 hours like everyone else 😂 utilities should be on at least 80k-85k a year! Undercutting, poor wages and toxic management is usually the catalyst for poor camp life 🤣
This was a year ago so maybe you know now But with ESS or Sodexo for a 14/7 swing around 68-73k a year depending on your particular contract. Works out to be 1500 a week after tax. So on your week off you have to account for the fact you don't get paid. So it works out to be 1K a week after tax. You usually work 12 hours a day with a a one hour break. So 11 hours worked. 77 hours a week. For two weeks straight 154 hours. It's honestly not the best wage considering the hours spent. The environment . Quality of the camp can vary widely depending on where you go. And your away from friend and family. But if your good at budgeting and happen to have no kids... You should be able to save a fair bit if your smart
Hi..there ...I'm looking for a haultruck operator or excavator operator jobs in Australia can you suggest me how to get into it . I have a valid trade certificate in Diesel mechanic & heavy duty vehicle driving licence approved by the government of India. I'm from India. Or do I have to go to some orientation course initially to get into Australian mining industry.
Hey mate looks sick been thinking about trying to get on the mines for quite some time now I’m down in Victoria but I wanna work up there in Pilbara I’m 15 doing my year ten and cirt 2 in automotive this year any suggestions on how I should go about getting a job up there👍
I am being offered a job to work at a mine in WA but I have never worked 12/7 days a week. What is it like to be on your feet all the time? Dose your mining site offer solutions to worker fatigue My dad works in a site and I have been trying to get a proper idea on how to prepare myself for 12/7 work life Loved the video, gives me hope that it isn't all busting and saying yes boss
I just resigned from bus driving in Adelaide after 13 years for an extended rest/holiday. Sitting down is far worse than standing/walking. Frequent holidays ✈️🍺💃🤸🥃😀 , slow cooking 🍲🍛 and buying/building a house when the market is in low demand until total physical burnout is the answer to your question. Cheers from Melbourne 👍.
Cool vid I’ve been wanting to get into the mines my resume is being reviewed at the moment hopefully I get in. Do you get good holiday pay or time off?
How did you end up in the mining business? I´m a International Welding Specialist and would love to move from Sweden to Perth and work in the mining industry. Regards//Bojan

Hi! I was wondering, even though this places looks nice, what do you think is missing? I mean, if you could improve something about the infrastructure, buildings, etc... what would it be? Thnx !
Did you get on mines? I'm starting to panic going there as a cleaner and I'm hearing horror stories of woman being harassed it's really worrying me.. Is it ok
I have stayed here. Its worst man. Being a vegeterian u find hardly anything to eat. U stomach is always empty, feel hungry always. Its not the place for vegans and vegeterians. Rest can enjoy there i guess.
Well you should have just eaten meat. You know that is in human nature to eat meat correct? We have teeth that are created for ripping meat. I don't understand vegetarians it's like a lion refusing to eat meat.
