The corners are awkward and do not stay in place. It makes the middle panel crooked. I suggest waiting for the corners to dry before placing the middle panel because with the spray adhesive the kit came with it doesn't stay in place and I kept needing to respray and readjust them. I think a 5 piece kit would have less problems with gaps.
I recognize that this is one of the cheapest and easiest install tile look surrounds, so I pretty much expect it to have some flaws (any option has its positives and negatives), but couldn't find any close up views of how the seams look. Assuming that looks good,, I would argue that it's biggest fault is it lays so flat against the wall that there's no way it fools anyone into thinking it's real tile if they look more than a few seconds. My thought, however, is that flaw is made up for by its unbelievably easy install for even the least capable, its corners being waterproof since that is a very common water access point, and it being so flexible which helps with walls that aren't perfect. Of course, that could be remedied by adding a layer of thin plywood or 1/4" sheetrock behind this and trimmed out with a thin plastic screen molding or similar. Wished Lowes still sold the cheap one I bought 20 years ago when I rehabbed my first property bc it looked legit but only cost $99 (which is still cheaper than this after inflation adjustment).
I'm interested in purchasing so would truly appreciate hearing reviews of it if you chose to purchase. Since I rehab homes for a living, it sure would be nice to find out whether this would be a viable solution for all my future project houses.
I kinda felt the same way bc I'd really like to see an up close view of how the seem looks. However, this is one of the cheapest and easiest to install tile look surrounds so I pretty much expect it to not be perfect. I would argue that it's biggest fault is that it lays so flat against the wall that there's no way it fools anyone who looks more than a few seconds that it's not real tile. They make some sturdy plastic ones that have depth and truly look like real tile but most cost as much or more than actual tile. Wished Lowes still sold the cheap one I bought 20 years ago when I redid my first property bc it looked legit but only cost $99 (which is still cheaper than this after inflation adjustment). Although this reply is a year old,, I would truly appreciate hearing your (or anyone else's) review of it if you chose to purchase.
How safe is it to inhale plastic that's been steamed over and over and how resilient is this material to cleaning materials such as bleach, peroxide, Drano, and other harsh chemicals? I just heard not to get any solvent chemicals on it.
Samantha, thanks for your interest in our products. Here is a link to a technical information sheet that provides the information you are looking for. I assure you that our products emit no toxic chemicals and can be cleaned with the harshest disinfectants without losing their finish. atilaminates.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/ATI-MFTIS-MirroFlex-Structures-Technical-Information-and-Product-Specs.pdf
How do you adjust the width of the back panel if your shower backwall is not exactly the size of the pre-fit panels? Especially when retro-fitting this into an older house/bathroom where things may not be plumb.
Hi Christine! That's a really great question. On the side panels, there's a bit of flat space around 1" that gives you some wiggle room. The back panel can be cut with scissors or a razor knife. Some customers prefer to use electric shears, which also work well. If you're worried the 1" side panel's overlap area won't be enough, give us a call and we'll see what we can do to help. *Even though mfgr says there is no adjustment there is some slight room for imperfect walls.~~>**allmy.tips/FramelessTDoor?rr<** The quality is everything as advertised. I didn't see another door to compare to but the arc is not linear.*
Believe it or not, this is one of our most asked questions. These tub surrounds can be installed over tile, provided a couple extra steps are taken. You'll need to scuff existing tiles with a hand sander using 60-80 grit paper prior to applying adhesive. We also advise using Titebond Advanced Polymer to adhere the MirroFlex Tub Surround to your existing tile.
That's a fair question, Parwez! 2013 was so long ago. We actually just redid this video in a really sharp neutral color scheme. Looking forward to showing this and other new content off in 2020 and beyond. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3sO6IumxONs.html
