Welcome to Cactus Crawlers RC! Based in (very) sunny Arizona, we have the very best terrain for radio controlled rock crawlers. From rugged rocks to forest lakes, dry deserts to snow covered mountains I will try to show you all that this wonderful environment has to offer the RC rock crawler enthusiast! It has been several years since the last time I was into radio controlled cars, mostly vehicles such as the RC10 GT, B4 Buggy, and TC3 road touring car, I had one rock crawler back then-the Axial Scorpion! Acquiring the truck on a trade, I wasn't really sure about what I had and sold it before I could really try it out and see what it was all about (what a dope!). Fast forward about ten years later and I was more into RC planes than anything else, getting into FPV for the most part (check out my other channel, Mafco Designs to see my airplane vids), I was reintroduced into the rock crawler scene and am now hooked! So sit down, buckle up, and hang on, were going for a ride!!!
@@kilroy1980 I was told by my friend that there were issues with the plastic case version so I picked up the one in the metal case, I haven’t had any issues so far and I’m pushing it pretty hard!
Thanks Brent, it was a lot of fun doing a themed video and Indiana Jones is one of my most favorite movie characters! He worked out really good in that Kubelwagen although he was just a bit big, I'll probably use him again in the scaler too! Thanks for checking out the video bro, I'm glad you liked it!
Thanks Frestkd! It was a lot of fun doing a video with Indiana Jones, one of my favorite movie characters for sure! Thanks for checking out the video, I'm glad you liked it!
😁RC fun!!! Love me some Indiana! Perfect size scale there! Iniana jones RC re-enactments has got to be a thjng? 3:00 the hardliner I. You started coming out 😂🍻🙏✌️🍻🖖🤘
Thanks Arty! I'm a big fan of Indiana Jones and glad I picked up that figure, probably going to use him in the scale rig too! It almost did some hard crawling there if not for those open diffs! Thanks for watching bro, I really appreciate the support!
@@CactusCrawlersRC I loved it, not only am I a creator but I’m a supporter of others, I try to watch everyone, give them a 👍and watch to the end. We are all after the same goal, why not help each other.
Not gunna lie I nailed it with that suggestion lol well done Mike that was so cool absolutely awesome fit Lucky Indy can drive he can handle open diffs and look cool doing it 👊
Thanks for the suggestion Mark, I'm glad I ordered the Indiana Jones figure instead of just getting some wrestling character or something. He was a tight fit and is just a little big but I was able to get him in there without breaking anything! I'll keep the diffs the way they are and the VW's will be more trail vehicles than crawlers! Thanks again for the Indy idea and checking out the video brother!
@@AdventureTimeRC thanks Brent! I’m just trying to copy what those other guys do as budget minded as possible, they are the ones who have the crazy builds! They really do defy gravity most times but sometimes gravity wins lol! Thanks for watching brother, always appreciate your checking out the video!
@@AdventureTimeRC thanks Brent! It was my first time on the trail and I plan to go back, maybe after summer when it cools down. I’ll be having another video with lights soon since it’s best to go out early before the sun comes up, a great opportunity for a light run! Thanks for checking out the video, I really appreciate your support!
Thanks SCRedneck! Its a great crawl spot and I like how grippy the rock is! Thanks for checking out the video and commenting, I appreciate the support!
Absolutely awesome sgt rock looking so good out there new paint looks amazing can't believe how well it performs now little beast holding it's own against a bully aswell well done some very smooth driving nice work Mike 👊
Thanks Mark! Yes, Sgt Rock getting it done! I bet I could do even better if I used both hands to crawl but it's kind of hard to get someone else to do the filming, although sometimes someone will take the camera over if I ask politely! Thanks for watching as always I appreciate your comments too!
@@CactusCrawlersRC I use a plastic clamp that holds the camera on the bottom of the transmitter for some cars and other's I buy those cheap round mounts and put one on each transmitter with double sided gorilla tape works very well
I was also out there last weekend and we did a small practice comp then took out our buggies, it was really cool! I seem to be going out there a lot lately, maybe I'll see you out there some time! Thanks for checking out the video too!
@@KEBuchan16 you will need to remove the front inner fenders to get to the body post location, I guess you can drill holes in the fenders if you want but I just removed the entire thing. Good luck with the new body swap and thanks for watching the video!
Thanks Country! I love checking out new crawling spots and this one didn't disappoint! I'll be back here again soon! Thanks for checking out the video, I'm glad you liked it!
Thanks dakine! It really was a cool place, I can't wait to get back there again an hopefully soon! Thanks for watching I really appreciate the support!
Yeah it was really cool to find another great spot in town! I'm going to try going back with the hardbody scale rig to see how it does up there! Thanks for checking out the video brother, I really appreciate the support!
Yeah it was a cool spot for sure! I'm going to try that one again hopefully soon! Thanks for checking out the video and commenting, I appreciate all the support!
Thanks Psycho! It was my first time there and I want to try again with the hardbody, it seemed like a great spot for a scale rig challenge! Thanks for checking out the video bro!
Thanks! I wish I had been able to stick around longer and video more of the trucks but that fall really had me hurting! Thanks for checking out the video and taking time to comment, I appreciate the support!
Omg that view from the top was incredible what a trail that was awesome vanquish did an accepetional job hanging with those comp rigs excellent run lads 👊
Thanks Mark! The view from the top was looking north into Phoenix, downtown with it's tall buildings would have been more to the left in that shot! It was good to get the Phoenix out again I really don't drive it enough and even in stock form it can really crawl! Thanks for watching as always brother, you are the boss!
@@DIllybarification I’ll need to check out the details and see what everyone else thinks but I had such a blast on the Tucson G6 last time I’m definitely wanting to go to another one! Thanks for the heads up and checking out the video!
@CactusCrawlersRC it's definitely one of the few spots you can crawl at in the summer. It'll be about 20~30 degrees cooler up on the mountain plus big trees for shade.
When in doubt throttle out I want to try those spots so bad sgt rock is so smooth now that new tyranny is working a treat great work boys another great vid Mike 👊
@@rcuintheshed6981 thanks Mark, yeah the trans is working out great and the only downside is that it’s pretty noisy (I did grease it up pretty good before installing) I’m figuring that’s the difference between a budget 2low and an original one from TGH! I love that spot the rocks have lots of grip and there’s not a whole lot of climbing! Thanks for watching as always brother I really appreciate it!
Thanks Brent! It’s always fun to hear everyone react to a great crawling session! Thanks for checking out the video too, I really appreciate the support!
Thanks Psycho! Everyone had a great time at an amazing place, really enjoyed seeing all those cool rigs! Thanks for the support and watching the video too!
How are you liking the Amazon 2 low? I just traded for a crawler with a hot racing lcg transmission and no amount of grease will make it quieter. Been thinking about going to a 2 low…
Thanks for checking out the video Farmerwes! The AMK 2low clone is working good so far but just as you mentioned with the Hot Racing trans it has lots of gear noise, pretty sure it's the way the gears were cut. I greased up the gears really good and just hope in time it'll get quieter, I bet the OG 2low from TGH would be much better engineered but be prepared to pay four times as much!
Thanks Panda! Yes that place is really awesome and there are challenging lines for everything from stock trucks to build rigs! Thanks for watching the video today, always appreciate the support!
Went out there last Sunday early morning and early evening. Early morning I took out my highly modified Danchee Ridgerock test everything out. It did well. Then I took my new in the box Ascent Fusion. It did very well for being box stock.
That's awesome frestkd! I bet that modified Ridgerock is a beast! I haven't seen the Ascent in person yet but have heard good things, my first two crawlers were Redcats and they sure have come a long way! Thanks for checking out the video, maybe we'll see you out there soon!
That's a pretty good Idea Brent! I should start putting all the rollovers in a separate file Lol! Thanks for watching brother, I hope you're having a good week!
It sure is becoming one of my favorite spots! I think I like it better than other places because I don't have to do much climbing! Thanks for checking out the video too!
Awesome crawling lads sgt rock handled like a boss new tranny seemed smooth what did you think of it I wanted to have a go at that last climb so bad that was the perfect scale canyon nice work Mike 👊
Thanks Mark, yeah I'm liking the transmission so far, it definitely puts the center of gravity lower and more forward! That canyon climb is epic for sure, I like how Sgt Rock is balanced just right so that a little throttle bump puts it over the hump! Thanks for checking out the video brother, hope your doing well!
Excellent upgrade getting it in sounded like a bit of a hassle can't believe how far sgt rock has come since he fell off the Indoor course keen to see it run power control is so important to not break traction nice work Mike 👊
Thanks Mark! It did take a little bit of hobbying to get it in but that’s probably more due to using a Gspeed chassis. Good point about how far it’s come since the indoor course at Superstition Hobbies, I should go back and try again to see how all the upgrades have worked! Thanks again for watching brother I appreciate all your support!
The crew here in North Phoenix build two types of trucks, either scalers or hardliners! That’s where I got the phrase from, I didn’t know that there’s was the socal group until now!
Thanks Brent! It’s been working out really good so far, I can definitely tell that it helps having the transmission sitting lower and a little more forward!
I'm sorry Mike watched this day's ago and forgot to go back and comment that place was stunning America definitely seems rockier than Australia what a crawl spot endless amount of lines snd soooo many hilux's in one vid some amazing scale details throughout to even list great vid Mike you did a great job group's are hard to film have a great weekend take care mate 👊
Thanks Mark! I'm not sure about the rest of the country but the American Southwest sure is pretty rocky! That was our first time at that location and it was a great test for the Hilux hardbody rigs, I'll probably go back with something more capable! Thanks for checking out the video brother and I hope you have a great weekend as well!
Thanks Jason! Yeah I’m always thinking about my footing and that day the crumbly rock gave out! You better believe I’ll be lots more careful in the future!
Thanks Arty! Yeah I really dig them Yotas! I have been wanting to get that truck out again for a while and that spot was perfect! I can't wait to get back there again soon! Thanks for watching bro!
Thanks Brent! Yeah I agree, the hardbodies are definitely better for scale and I love the way they wear and patina naturally! This was our first time at this spot and I plan to go back again with a hardliner rig to get some of those hardcore lines!
I get word from my bud Frank Rizzo who will call me and let me know what and where the groups are planning to meetup. He will keep a close eye on what the groups are planning on Facebook like the North Valley Crawlers. This trip was last minute and I didn't hear about it until Thursday! Maybe it would be a good idea for me to get more involved in social media and try to get the word out in advance! Thanks for checking out the video Ezd, hope to see you out on the rocks!
@CactusCrawlersRC ahh okay! I'll keep looking! I met you out at Badlands a couple weekends ago I was the other gspeed truck with the polished frame and purple fj body! Hope you healed alright! Hope to see you out there again soon!
@@Im_Ezd oh yeah! Thanks I’m doing better for sure, just got a few scabs left lol! I’m thinking about updating my Cactus Crawler Facebook page and posting meetups, I’ll let everyone know when I get it going!
Thanks Panda! Yeah it was a good location and I wanted to get that hardbody rig out for a while! It was the first time we had been there and I can't wait to go back! Thanks for watching my friend!
