Bookworm is a story that gradually goes from Myne saying "ok how can I get books?" to everyone else going "ok how can we stop her from turning the country into a giant book factory and then holing up in her library for the rest of her life?"
While I agree with all of your points, I believe that peco’s injury also shows how much harder he is working than everyone else in order to catch up with all of the other characters. Because he has a limited time, he has to put all of his passion, talent, and hard work to the maximum effect, which in turn causes the injury. While hard work is important, I believe that this anime has always been about the necessity of not only working hard, but being passionate and having enough talent. Because of peco’s overwhelming talent and passion, the hard work he has put in is arguably more effective than the other characters who lacks one of the two factors. Great video!
Sometimes when talk about this topic something just sparks in my mind and I remembered there's a quote from hayata in Ultraman Mebius movie which he said: "Mirai (Mebius) we are Ultramen. We're not gods. No matter how hard we tried, there will be still lives that we cannot save and goals that cannot be realised "
There are different representation of Jesus and not just getting "power" from God as this comparison makes him sound like a prophet more than the usual term "Son of God". There are times it is said that Jesus is the first angel or Jesus IS God.
I'm not a Christian, nor do I see myself returning to the religion in the future. But I can appreciate and recognise it's good influences like seen here. Even if some of the references are a stretch. It's clear that this show was made by a devout Christian who wanted to give similar messaging and inspiration to people, which is noble considering that Christianity is actually a minority religion in Japan
As a diligent paper back collector of AOB. I don’t know how to feel about you calling me autistic. Tbh, i don’t really care. You should read the Light novel! It’s amazing!
@@jingo123 the next part, Part 3 is a blast to read. The light novel PB's are already far in part 5 but it only gets better! Rozemyne is turning more crazy by the day.
One of my favorite Isekai's. I love how it starts, slice of life isekai. No crazy powers (yet) and dealing with normal issues, as an isekai. We need more of these
One aspect of the source material that's been left out of the Anime has to be just how much she did with her mother. In the memory sequence in the light novel, she goes through her old memories, and instead of just being a passing visitor, she actually had the agency to go about and interact with her memories, and as she did that, one thought that just kept occurring to her was how much her mother had done for her. One choice she pointedly makes is the thank and apologize to her mother, even if just in her own memories, for passing away before her, which just puts a sadder undertone to the wide of things Myne 'comes up' with, be it the shampoo, pressing flowers, making baskets, origami, all of it was her mother trying to break her child out of her shell, and Myne realized that she'd be nowhere near capable of surviving as Myne, let alone start the thrive, without the experiences she gained from her mother spending time with her. One very particular detail that was left out of the anime was just whose books it was that were in the avalanche; instead of that having been her personal collection, it was her father's collection, one that was left in a state of disarray where Urano had fastidiously organized all her own books. There's a lot around that situation that remains unsaid, but I definitely feel like Urano's infatuation with books was something that came about as a coping mechanism from whichever situation had taken him out of her life.
The part about how her mom gave her some of the knowledge she had is so good wow. I'm actually annoyed at how short the memory sequence was in the anime, they should've spent at least half an episode for it (It was like 5 mins in the anime). It would've helped Ferdinand's character too.
I suppose she rather explicitly says she uses books as a coping mechanism when she says at the start of the anime that she can bear anything as long as she has books.
Nice take. IMO All non-fiction is primarily escapist nowadays, just from the sheer volume we read (me included... heck, the 33 volumes took a while in this one). The added value you outlined is somewhat current to all of us, who may have a bit skewed outlook, because of technology that makes us all slightly ADHD. Reading this series is fun, but a paradox as well. That makes you think. :D
Ever since Episode 1 she is autistic. To be honest I like it when Anime, Manga, Novel, and Games are detached from real world. It should be a form of entertainment and not a reflection of Current Political views or an Individual's perspective in Reality since Politics are never been Fun at all. Fiction should not be the Reality, we already had media for that called Journalism.
Pointing this out because I see you are doing this in good faith and want to help you improve in the future. Aspergers isn't a term used anymore. It's called level 1 autism now. They got rid of that term because Dr Asperger. The man the term was named after was a 1940s German Doctor who worked for a certain mustache man. And most people don't like ourselves to be associated with that man or men like him. The term refers to the people with autism who are "Good enough to live and work as slaves" by the 1940s Germans. It's a mistake still commonly made by a lot of people. This isn't being pointed out to judge you. But because I enjoyed the video as an autistic who relates to Mine and want to see more of your stuff in the future and for it to improve
Hi I just want to point out that his name is Asperger, but maybe that is just the english version. Also thank you for teaching me this info. It really is understandable not wanting to be associated with him.
It's nice of you to point that out man. Being an asperg autist immigrant in Germany, I would not sweat it if people are only familiar with aspergers, heck I'd be impressed if they have any knowledge about what it means at all. It's just that I wouldn't want people interacting with me to have another social landmine to deal with, considering I am basically a minesweeper with all the mines I am setting off on accident haha By the by, I am learning just today that autism comes in levels now, which I think is deeply hilarious. How much XP am I gonna need to grind to level up?
@@jingo123 I assumed you didn't know. But you made a good video. So I want to see you improve even more. And I am just trying to give you tools to do so
This is just my two cents, but I think Isekai stories are all the rage these days because Japan and the rest of the western world for that matter are battling to survive right now. Depression from overwork is common right now, many people have been screwed out of having a decent life through no fault of their own, and the bar for achieving anything worthwhile is hopelessly high for many people. In that light it is easy to wish for just a chance to live a life where you either have a chance to live the life we were denied or be given "our dues" and be made overpowered for all of the pain this life has done to us. About AoaB, Myne is also very smart in more concrete things and fails and understanding abstract things like social interactions but when the social interactions are explained to her, so she has a blueprint of how to act and what to do to get what she wants she excels. She was the one who negotiated with (Dio) Benno, and she is the one coming up with ways to translate her knowledge into something of value through sheer effort and work so she can get her books. Again, very ASD as she is far more receptive to the carrot part of the carrot and stick routine and shuts down when given the stick. Myne's body might be very frail, but her mind is very comparable to concrete, VERY high compressive strength, very low tensile strength.
You're definitely right about Isekai and Myne's intelligence. I might come off as being a bit hard on the escapist thing, but that's only because I saw people praising Myne's struggle without acknowledging that the Isekai world itself is a godsend for her. In fact, Isekai's blatant escapism is probably its best quality, as it manages to capture those themes related to our sad reality in a way conventional stories fail to. And of course escaping reality is fun lol.
the whole point of him not using his powers was because his powers are emotion based which is why he dosent express emotion Him accepting his power was also his powers accepting that he isn’t just powers and mob accepting that emotion/powers were just a apart of him which is why the cake part exist so does the pole part
I met you on a website doing an 8 out of 10 review of the manga watashi ga 15 sai dewa nakunattemo and i really not speak inglish but I have a strange and old consideration about you, I met you in 2022
read it a few years back and i’ve never seen anyone mention it! i personally didn’t like the art style, but it managed to leave an impact on me anyways. omoide poroporo is one of my favourites, so it made me excited to see you link the two ^^ thank you for covering these lesser known manga!
I just finished the series and literally couldn't formulate a single thought after I was so speechless, thank you so much for this video it made me appreciate Ultra Heaven even more!
Thanks for uploading the recap, I knew of ultraman series but didn't know anything about ultra seven and the crucifiction, it makes me want to go check out the show. Looking forward to that video connecting the bible, show, and the manga. Awesome work!
Kabu’s character arc Vol 1 1. Believes life is meaningless, reality is fake, chases the highest high, doesn’t mind dying. 2. Because of Kabu’s philosophy and rebirth (dying and reviving), his spiritual potential is awakened 3. Once awakened, Kabu subconsciously realizes that life has meaning, and the answer lies inside of him. 4. Ultra Heaven amplifies this feeling to the point that it consumes Kabu’s life. He can’t think of anything other than the truth, as his psychic powers manifest in reality. Vol 2 5. Kabu uses the amp with Sally to explore his mind. 6. Kabu’s mother neglected him as a child because of her drug addiction. Describes Heaven as a drug filled utopia. She overdoses and dies. 7. Doctor says she’s in heaven. Kabu’s confused. 8. He wants to go after his mom in Heaven because he cannot accept her death. He becomes a drug addict and chases death because of this (subconsciously). 9. Kabu is stuck in a dream that shows his trauma over and over. Kabu is clinging on to his mother’s love. Believes he can’t live without her. 10. Sally lets Kabu know that he can take care of himself, don’t let the past tie you down. There are people that care about him, there is another self looking at you. Love gives life meaning. 11. After knowing his origins, Kabu experiences an identity crisis because he realizes his beliefs are ‘fake’, it all came from his mother. He can’t accept that he IS his past. He also hasn’t fully accepted the idea of love. Vol 3 12. Kabu and Sally go to the drome. Sally fights the veterans and the masters to show people who are attached to desire, unlike Kabu. 13. Kabu gets awakened by Soga up to the 6th chakra, Kabu kills the masters and takes over the drome. 14. The living god (TLG) comes, awakens Kabu’s 7th chakra. His archetypes are manifested more intensely, representing his ideas of heaven. 15. Because of TLG’s Shaktipat, Kabu wants to kill the distorted memory of his mother to cope with her death and resolve his identity crisis. 16. Sally saves Kabu by reminding him of his mother’s love as well as other people’s love for him (again). But Kabu fails to awaken his 7th chakra because he hasn’t fully realized his love. 17. Kabu is imprisoned by TLG in a cross of ice, stuck in the unconscious, waiting to be saved by the people that care/love him in Vol 4.
