I have found myself in situations like this and it's so accurate. The older LGBT generations YEARN for the freedom us younger ones have. We've come such a long way in such little time, and it feels like we still have a WORLD to accomplish.
Abortion is illegal and inaccessible in so many places. The idea that people who decide to keep children do it to trap people is a sad reality we’re all forced to live in.
Prof Tiffany Jones’ “Euphorias in sex, gender and sexuality variations” is a great book on thousands of peoples’ experiences that finds most euphorias are caused by institutional inclusion and community connection … check it out for free from Springer.
Nate found his dad’s porn collection at 9 years old or younger and that’s what messed him up also his mom didn’t know at the time that his dad was doing that illegal stuff bro.
I srsly wonder what her story & perspective Is, I wonder when she knew Cal wasn’t faithful and if it was before she decided to keep her baby. Cause she said Maddie’s the type of girl to keep a baby to spite Nate, so maybe she’s in fact talking about herself.
The way they angled the camera to make Jules look so innocent and vulnerable is frightening. It portrays the situation in such a terrifying yet real way. This show is almost too much for me but so damn good that I can’t stop lol
what in the....which family smokes in the middle of the house and drinks in the daytime...Nate is still in school which means he shouldn't be drinking...
Watching this now a year after watching season 2 - while I feel like the Cassie Nate thing was handled poorly - in the sense of portraying more motive or explanation for Cassie’s break like tying it back to season one in some way, her dad, personally i feel like we were robbed of closure with McKay and *the clinic thing* like as a whole for both parties then just Cassie individually, maybe getting more into her self destructive behavior from her point of view not via and argument with Nate - I feel like this scene is a good foreshadow to Cassie and Nate. The whole lets kill him giving real Nate vibes and I get the real point of this scene is that Cassie doesn’t know what to do for McKay here im just sayin
Remember what her sponsor said: " You not a drug addict because you a piece of shit, you a piece of shit because you a drug addict". Rue's not selfish, it's her disease talking.
As a fellow addict, I can tell right now that Rue doesn't do all this shit on purpose. But I also get the moms desperation and despair, and the pointing fingers, cause from the outside, our sickness just look like a bunch of selfish idiots getting high and haven't got a care in the world. That's our decease talking, not us.
Rue needed to hear this. Don't forget all the things she did before this scene, wrecking the house and cursing at her mother, even blaming her for her father's death. Of course her mom's aware Rue has a serious addiction and it's because of that, but Rue keeps relapsing and somewhere she probably thinks her mom will support her and love her no matter what she does. But here her mother makes her aware there is a limit even to her love for her daughter. She has another child who is starting to spiral into the same self-destructive behaviour. She is not saying she doesn't care that she dies or she doesn't love her. But she's made it clear by this point she wants Rue to get better and not die, but at this point it's like beating a dead horse. So she says here, whatever you do, it's out of my hands. I have another daughter to take care of. You will be an adult soon and you have to start making your own decisions. And in the end Rue doesn't defend herself or gets mad, because she knows her mom is right.
she looks like a goddamn child, you can lie about your age all you want but he's 2.5x her age. No court of law would say she was in the wrong. A foolish child maybe but that wouldn't let him off the hook.
For all of ya'll saying "all cassie offers is sex" and "she wasn't even listening to mckay", how else is she supposed to comfort someone when that's all they make her feel useful for, mckay was okay with making everything sexual when he asked her for nudes but when she is generally tryna cheer him up shes in the wrong, i do agree that if he doesn't want it then she shouldn't give it but why make her feel like sex is the only thing she is gd at/knows then push her away for acting sexual?
Ye like the *i thought u liked that kinda stuff scne* with them and Cassie back tracking to *its ok just lmk before lol* the real reaction was the initial one but realizing McKays prob talked to all the people and seen all the videos, and ultimately that fear of rejection and need for ‘love’ (her minds version of it at this point) she goes into acting mode and instead tells him its okay * and plays the part
If only she knew how deep in rue is. The drug debt, home invasion, theft, etc. If i were her mother i would kick her out the minute it struck midnight on her birthday. In reality people like rue are way too dangerous to keep in the family. If she changes great, if not see ya.
The acting and writing in these scenes between Nate and Marsha are fantastic. Marsha has basically given up on Nate and her whole family. She's knows exactly who Nate is and she's telling him here - almost baiting him, going just as far as Nate will accept without tipping him over the edge, whereas Maddy repeatedly goes too far. It's clear that she is experienced at this "dance" and has the upper hand with Nate in a way that the younger women don't. She can really get under Nate's skin. Fascinating dynamic.
