That teletype SFX heard at the end of the newscast behind Mr. Bertel was Track B14, "Teletypes," from the "Authentic Sound Effects, Vol. 2" album (Elektra EKS-7252) issued around 1964. From about the mid-to-late 1980's to 2020, 1010 WINS in New York used a loop derived from that track.
I listened to Bob next to my grandpa every morning and I think even my grandpa would puck if he heard all the lies that are being told by people from Fox News and the crap that’s being spewed sickening

Being only 3 months old when it happened I of course don't recall the time it happened but I've studied that assassination for many years and I'm thankful I was only a baby. Listening to this broadcast it seemed as though the United States was quite vulnerable to foreign hostility. That's frightening
Jim, I just now learned of your dad’s passing. Please accept my deepest condolences. I remember him well; my family moved to CT in 1966, and Dick Bertel was a familiar and friendly face on TV. He was a consummate broadcast professional, and very trustworthy to viewers. RIP, Dick.
I remember that evening, I think, it was so many years ago. Around the time of the move to Broadcast House, one of CT's sculptors, Frances Wadsworth, presented the new station with a sculpture called "The Broadcaster", a farmer with a basket hung from his left arm, his right arm/hand looked as if he had just withdrawn it from the basket with seeds in the palm of his hand. For some time after that, the sculpture would appear near the Channel 3 Logo, perhaps when it was time for the news. Have not seen it in many, many years.
First eye witness interviewed said two shots came from the hill ...later known as the grassy knoll. Operation Mockingbird reporter aaked for the womans address which she gave on air. WTF!? CIA mainstream news networks announced almost immediately that the shots cane from the Texas Schoolbook depository. The fix was in early.
I just found out about his passing. His Golden Age of Radio series is what got me into the interest of old radio programs. I could tell he was passionate about what he did and he always seemed genuine and excited when interviewing people or talking about his fascination with radio. I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing as he was a big inspiration to me. I wish the best for his family.

The strangest thing I’ve heard was the mention of Sen Yarborough near the end saying that the President’s lips were moving at a normal rate of speed. Have never been able to figure out what the hell that meant!
