Casals is more sentimental. Feuermann is the epitome of elegance . His slides are more tasteful and as a cellist I find his performance more compelling.
I had no idea that Stéphane Grappelli was such a good pianist. Wikipedia says that he also played saxophone and accordion, but I have not found anything on RU-vid of him playing those instruments.
Extraordinaria interpretación con instrumentos originales, equilibrio entre la pasión y la razón, lejos de la grandilocuencia romantica de algúnos directores. Juan.Carlos.Stroppolo V..Sta Rita caba.
I have always maintained that Horowitz was a fine classicist. His Mozart and more especially Haydn was always perfectly tasteful and proportioned with never a dry moment. I really love his K.488.
I never understand why the French horns have so much trouble in that cue (3:50). They either arrive late or are out of time like here. The concertmaster looked a bit nervous at that moment... No wonder. 😂 I love Rose, he was an incredible cellist.
Ahora que veo el documental , me respondo yo mismo, este Casals de principiante no tenía ya nada a los 10 años jajaja supongo que sí es el mismo , Alejo lo decía con puro sarcasmo y una sutil ironía , valga la redundancia.
I remember first hearing this recital when I was already in on 3rd year of Moscow conservatory. This very performance stunned me so much I could not talk for hours. Even though I became something very far from cellist, one of things I very regret is that I never had an opportunity to shake his hand or see him alive.
as much as I think Kogan is among the best to play concertos, he is just too forward and aggressive in these sonatas, needs a bit more subtlety. The pianist is the real star here.
