The bright orange flowering shrub at the front of the house is Azalea Exbury 'Arneson Gem' and the white shrub blooming on the street side of the carport is Choisya ternata 'Sundance' (Mexican Orange). The white blooming shrubs near the circle of lawn includes Deutzia gracilis 'Nikko' (left) and Viburnum 'Davidii' (right). Thank you for taking an interest in my garden. Evelyn

My Zone 7A garden does enjoy a temperate climate with wet winters/spring and dry summers. I also have a drip irrigation system installed (above ground) in most of the 12 garden beds.

I've viewed Evelyn's garden many times over the ten years that she's been creating it, and as it matures, every year it becomes more and more beautiful. Well done, Ev! You should be proud of what you've accomplished.

Is the Mile a Minute Vine invasive?
@comoxvalleyhortsociety
@comoxvalleyhortsociety Год назад
Hi Michael, we corresponded with Linda and she advises that the vine is actually called Silver Lace Vine (Fallopia baldschuanica, syn. Polygonum aubertii, Polygonaceae Family). Here is what she says about it: "It’s an aggressive grower (hence its nickname) but I love it all along my fence, and the gentle clusters of mini white blossoms attract bees (not masses!). It twists and turns, curls and is cheeky, but worked perfectly in my one spot. Years ago travelling in rural France I saw it covering a shed and thought I had to find out what it was, and I did. I googled it and it said it is considered invasive in some areas. "

I have now pruned 2 of them but I am so worried that I have taken off too much, if I have, will it recover ?
@comoxvalleyhortsociety
@comoxvalleyhortsociety Год назад
Hello! In the Fall, its best to do only a light pruning. Spring is when most of your pruning should be done and then only to a maximum of 30% of the tree. If you think you have over-pruned, make sure your tree is well cared for (i.e. adequate water and food). You could also call in an arborist if you're really worried. Good luck!

Really curious to know what you are viewing the video on (i.e. a Mac or PC). We've asked several people to listen and everyone we've asked has had no problem with the volume. This is very strange and we are sorry you are having difficulties.

I have a Little Devil dwarf ninebark that is only about 18” high so far. I was very happy to see what it looks like in a “real” garden, not a plant company’s. I think it’s a keeper! Lovely garden. Thanks for sharing

Thanks for viewing! Anne and Bill started working on their garden in 2006 and its been in this beautiful state for a few years now (the video was taken in 2021). It truly is a stunning garden and was amazing to experience in person. They are in Zone 8a.

Sorry you're having trouble. I just listened to various spots during the whole video and the audio is working fine for me (it is muffled for some of it because of the water feature but I don't think that's what you mean). Not sure what the problem is because I see someone else is also having difficulty. If you care to give it another go, maybe it will work this time?
