RFCA NI has a wide remit and day-to-day responsibilities can range from providing support to reservists’ employers, managing and maintaining our reserve and cadet sites in the region, recruiting adult cadet instructors and liaising with a wide range of local communities, MPs and councils.

I am in cadets and have been for 2 years now, I’m a girl and I’m a red star and my rank is cpr (corporal). I love cadets because it makes me feel happy and cool haha, most people there are quite mature but they are also very nice and I have many friends. We do drill, marksmanship, and even now biathlon. I recommend joining it, it helps a lot with education and sometimes we go on camps to learn about survival
Speaking as a parent My lads just finished his first year and he hasn't enjoyed all that much to be honest. I've assured him it'll get better now he's a first class cadet. He's made some friends To be fair and he's done 1 camp but the rest of the time he's been learning drill and classroom learning with the odd bit of sport. He started first aid but they never finished it and that was 6 months ago and he's yet to pick up a air rifle. As for flying from what I can gather they have a very limited 3 cadets about every 3 months roughly so not a great deal of flying. Only 4 of the 10 of his intake stuck out the first year. Another intake of 13 came in 6 months after and most have quit.
i’m going for the first time today! 🙈 i’m super excited but nervous at the same time as i have to wear a mask for anything indoors because of vulnerable family (i’m pretty sure i’ll be the only one..) n i hate masks as it is lol. but i’m super excited anyway!
@@The_Duck_God hey! it went absolutely amazing ty! i wasn’t able to continue tho as it’s ‘too far’ and my parents didn’t want me back there as i wasn’t able to wear a mask. instead, a few weeks later we found a marine cadets more local and it’s outdoors a lot, absolutely brilliant here! i’m currently on a camp at armourfest with them!
Before I joined I was told you’ll get out what you put in, never a truer piece of advice. I’m 50 now and some of the experiences and lessons I learned still serve me today, I’d not be a senior leader in my work without having been an Air Cadet.
Hey guys bit late to this video but I’ve turned 12 in May so It’s September in a few weeks and Im about to join the Salford City Eccles Squadron btw- anyone on here at that one currently 👀
Would suggest deleting your comment mate, would reflect poorly on you if you're seen spouting abuse online even if you think it's a joke. I know for a fact ACF staff don't take kindly to it as it reflects badly on the ACF as a whole, baring in mind aswell your name and face are right there so it isn't hard to find you and which detachment you're a part of. Doubt you wanna be in front of your Detachment OC or worse your CSM about it. I almost got discharged a while ago for a similar issue so trust me when I say, if you wanna stay in the ACF think before you speak, don't be an arse!
I was an Army Cadet when I was a kid. It was....not a good experience. The training was great, and a good intro if you want to join the Military, but if you don't fit in, or there are a bunch of trouble makers that noone in charge will deal with, it becomes a nightmare.
That’s what I’m worried about, i have had many fights in my school and I can handle myself, but I don’t want to go to this and get bother from bullies or anything, I have my first session on Thursday
@@seancooper9563 Just try to keep a positive attitude and realize cadets is glorified scouts. You shouldn't need to fight anyone, but its a program for teenagers and sometimes there is a kid who cannot properly handle the responsibility of leadership without allowing it to go to their head. I punched my "platoon 2IC" in the mouth at camp because he was acting like a nob. The rest of the trip was fine after, but when we returned from camp I quit shortly after. The "leadership" allowed too many bullies, and being not from the area, I never fit into their cliques.
Don’t be fooled. It’s shit all the way through. I’ve been for five years and it was advertised as flying focused. All I’ve amassed is 4 flights that lasted 20 minutes each which is fucking atrocious for 5 years in an organisation that parades itself as flying. Join any cadet force other than the air cadets. It’s an organisation without a head, and without its tool: planes. These retards retired a full fleet of powered gliders which were bought by another company and use them for flying but not cadets anymore. DO NOT JOIN THE AIR CADETS. WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY FOR THE MAJORITY OF MEMBERS.
this is partly true, ive noticed less flying but i did join during covid and there wasnt much going on then anyway because of it, got my first flight this week in a glider, our squadron have alot of camps though so we can visit RAF bases, it might not be flying but its still good fun. i expect to see more events in the summer due to better weather conditions
I emailed some captain named Andrew asking if I can join, even though I’m 12, and he said “Sorry, but wait until you are 13 and we will be happy to have you!” And I am sooooooo ready to be 13
Recruitment stage for some squadrons can be very boring, mine lasted 4months! In my time at air cadets , haven’t taken control of a single aircraft and I’ve been on one camp. I’ve been in aircadets 3 years, and I have taken part in many charity events, if your looking to fly, I suggest going to your local airfield, if you want to join the RAF and learn vital skills, join Aircadets
Can u reply with feedback for me please.. I’m 13 And just signed up to army cadets and I’m going this Thursday to have my first session and I’m pretty nervous
@@liam_mcc1288 it was quite overwhelming at first cause your a complete civi with no military experience so learning drill seemed extremely difficult but once your settled in it hands down one of the best experiences
@@seancooper9563 hi my best advice is to not overthink it just go in with an open mind and step outside of your comfort zone make a conscious effort to talk to people you don’t know it’s the best why to settle in
