We all know that one of the things folks enjoy most about RU-vid is free music! Undoubtedly, some people will like the content here, and a concerted effort is made to record each title in as good a fashion as possible, however I've decided to feature what I think are the worst vinyl records (and others) I come across in my collection.
There are no really no desirable or rare 78s or other records here, and very likely no artists that our young folks in Generation Y and Z have ever heard of. Remember beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some of this music could be enjoyed by a great number of people, others may not like it as I do. Either way, I am preserving these records in a format that the artists on the albums here could not have imagined at the time of recording to an audience much larger than anyone would've ever thought...
I'm not sure if they built on the original albums or what, but when they released these on LP, they added more, and sometimes different versions of songs. You'd think that RCA would've wanted to promote their own product more (the 45 rpm record). At any rate, the different arrangements, etc., are wonderful on both the 45s and the LPs. These were also later re-released in stereo once the 45-45 degree modulated stereo groove was decided upon in about 1957.
Just came here from another upload that was all blurry, missing the title track, and skipping, AND HAD MISSPELLED TITLES!!!!!! lol called himself overlord 58… WHAT a DUMBSHIT!!! LOL
Like, there are several very similar types, any with similar names and looking quite similar, but I’ve the exact same model. I’m repairing mine. You replaced capacitors? Who did the work?
Just being sang slower and with the out of tune for the comedic effect of country Bear jamboree ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IzOx0X5FWrc.htmlsi=QfWKsjpL53ZtzadR
I've been going through an inherited record collection and came across a duodisc record. The writing on the label says it was recorded in 1948 and is a recording of my mother's sister giving a commencement speech. I don't have anything that can play it. I assume I would need a turntable that can play 78s. How were these recorded originally? What equipment?
Probably on a Wilcox gay 6b10 or 6b30 at 78 pm with a steel needle using an astatic crystal cut head. Some silvertone 78 rpm hone recorders were around though that actually had shure magnet cut heads and there were also sapphire cut needles that would have yielded more professional results...
These were issued also in Dixie mail order EP series. There were six tracks on those and those were available on 45 and 78 rpm. Some of the artists are idenfied here: A1 Roger Miller A2 Jeanette Hicks A3 Frankie Miller A4 Roger Miller A5 Howard Crockett A6 Howard Crockett A7 Frankie Miller A8 Howard Crockett A9 Roger Miller B1 Roger Miller B2 Roger Miller B3 Buddy Starcher B4 B5 Jeanette Hicks B6 B7 Frankie Miller B8 B9
What were you expecting with this album? Mozart? Get a sense of humour. This is a product of its time, and as such, it's extremely interesting, and nowhere near as bad as you let on.
Interesting build. I have a question, with the Triad N-68X isn't the heater amp load a little high ? Could you swap in a single 12AT7 and not hook up the center tap to eliminate a tube ?
Yes you could use a 12ax7 or 12at7 instead of 2 12at6 or 12av6. With a 50dc4 and 50c5 that could complete the series string. I have used a ss rectifier a 12at7 and 2 50b5s in a small se stereo audio amp with an n68x and it does fine
I was surprised to hear A Long Time Ago here. I found an old book a long time ago which compiled even older folk songs from the UK. If I'm not wrong, I remember A Long Time Ago being in it. The imagery of the different flowers sprouting from the graves and rising to meet at the top of the church linked them in my mind. I'll have to track down the book, wherever it is, and see if I'm recalling correctly. It would be astounding to find that the song has been passed on and changed hands across the pond to survive and still be recited for like 400 years after the book records it. On an unrelated note, to archive music you explicitly don't like is pretty based, if you'll excuse the Gen-Z term. In this case meaning altruistic or at the very least it's practicing archiving in a pure sense.
He was a great horseman and was a rodeo master. Underused in Rawhide. Taught Clint Eastwood to ride and Ja mes Dean in Giant. Early music out of Dallas on radio with Calumet Indians was great. He was a music genius a nd cowboy star. Glad his wife keeps his music going.
Doye used to play at the Mustang Club on So. Alvarado St. near 9th Ave in Los Angeles back in the late 60's - early 70's. They kept a request jar on the edge of the stage and Doye had a sizeable repetoire of country songs he knew. Friday and Saturday nights there were always big crowds. Also along Alvarado and around the corner on 6th St. there was Freddie Hart playing just before he hit big with "Easy Loving" and moved to bigger venues. My favorite Doye O'Dell songs were "White Shotgun" and "Dear Okie".Thanks for the post, brings back memories.
Thanks Matt. I'm a fellow tinker'er too. I have recorded some of my project repairs (unpublished) and know firsthand that it's harder than it seems to make a fluid-sounding video. I guess it takes practice so keep em coming. I am currently working on a 3 tube, bluetooth input, cheap radio cabinet amp that uses a 12AS6, 50C5 and a 50DC4. So your video caught my eye.
What are you trying to do with it? Convert to guitar? Just need to add some cathode bias capacitors to pins 3 and 8 of the 12ax7 and 1 to the el84. Also I added a 1m ohm input resistor and swapped rca input for a 1/4 inch jack. Also it'll need the electrolytic caps replaced. If you don't have experience with Electronica might want to find a buddy who is. Working with even a simple amplifier like this one contains high voltages that can be lethal.
@@mattfielding6365 as of right now I'm trying to get it to work as a record player then going to convert it to a amp. The 12AX7 has a faint glow but there is no Audio coming out of the speakers whatsoever.
@BMH2010 if it's not putting out sound I suspect the filter caps. 12ax7s are sometimes more dim than other tubes and that can be misleading. How about the el84? Does it light up?
I literally have this exact record in front of me right now. I'm 27, had it for years. I was just curious if I could find it on RU-vid. So thank you. Lol.
I had this album when I was a kid, Wore it out,,lol I WISH they would’ve recorded a full length version of The Beer Barrel Polka like the one on this medley, BEST version of that polka I’ve ever heard!’n
I have this album and others by him. I enjoy his music and movies. He signed an album and 8 track tape for me after a show in Gainesville, Ga. Then he took my wife and myself out for a steak dinner after the show. He was a very down to earth man. We had a great conversation. I'll never forget him doing that for us.
What a great experience with Sheb to treasure forever. What year was that? I wish I could have met him. I admit to only recently having "discovered" him after watching Rawhide reruns and noticing the role he had in that series, then finding out all else he had done. It seems he is not fully appreciated for his many talents and accomplishments, which makes me sad. Yet it seems he had a fulfilled and satisfying life, and I am glad to learn he was friends with Johnny Cash as well as many others. I hope somehow he knows he is still remembered and still bringing joy to others. Apparently he just loved to perform. Just wish there were more videos of him. Thanks Sheb. Never met you but that doesn't stop me from loving you!
