I don’t find the recoil too bad. Definitely less than the 45-70. A bit more than a .308. I only notice it when bench shooting numerous rounds wearing just a t-shirt. When hunting it’s one shot and I have more clothes covering the shoulder, etc.
I have the same exact bike, same year. But mine is black. I like your luggage bag and fork bag. Can you provide me with their links and/ or descriptions? Thank you!
Very nice walk-around of your GoldWing and your town. I just bought my first ever GoldWing (97 1500GL Aspencade). I look forward to more of your videos.
Any shadow 1100 owners fill me on how these do on the highway, I ride ab 60 miles round trip commute and wondering how these do at 70-85 mph for a few miles
nice video. should've opened it up on the wide stretch. my spirit will do 110mph (177 kph). I changed the carb jets. gas mileage suffers though. but worth it!.... punch up on youtube.....2001 honda shadow 1100.
1800s look pretty nice. I’ve never ridden one. I’ve heard the 15’s are a bit more comfy but the 18’s are sportier with a bit more power. There’s probably some truth to that.
I’m 22 and I love my sport bikes I do but I’d rather ride my shadow all day long more comfortable for sure. I’ll get off the gsxr and my back feels like it’s broken
I’ve never actually ridden a sport bike. I used to think the cbr1000 hurricane was about the baddest thing. Had a poster of one in black and red. Maybe one day.
me, 6' 2" 210 lbs. The Shadow fits me well except I like some sort of backrest. After a few hours I find myself hanging on the bars for support. My bike has been flawless for several years. Not too big on power but will last for years and years.
That’s awesome. Don’t give up! Keep up your dream! I first saw these shadow 1100s back in 2000. I wanted one for 21 years before I bought this one. It’s is a good bike, there are lots of them out there and they will continue to be out there. Plus they are one of the most affordable 1100 cc cruisers out there. Thanks for watching and take care!
Thanks for the like. I guess I’m at a different stage. I bought a Harley and let this shadow go. But no regrets about the Shadow. Just wanted to own a Harley before they’re a thing of the past. The newer ones don’t do it for me.
I have a 1999 Shadow Spirit 1100. Love it so far. But how does it feel with the highway windshield? Thinking about getting one myself for longer rides.
The windshield is really nice on the highway. Removes all of the forceful wind and replaced it with some gentle breeze coming off of your hands, mirrors and legs. I still wear an open face helmet with a pull down visor on the highway.
Great video, I ride Shadow 1100 from 1990 and it's a 4 speed version with a little bit more power. But quite frankly it moves and sounds just like yours. Great bikes very dependable. If you find handlebar from the ACE model try it it makes it even more comfortable and in my mind it looks better with it
I might try that sometime. It really isn’t much more $ than the regular soft points. I particularly was interested in the superformance 178 gr eld-x precision hunter rounds. I have a lot of boxes of my current stuff though. Plus some Sako 180 gr soft points. To use as well. We’ll see. Maybe I’ll try it out for a video or something.
Yes there is a 20 lb limit recommended in the manual. That is 20 lbs for the trunk plus 20 lbs for each pannier or saddle bag. When I say 50 lbs that’s all three. I was also thinking after making the video, it’s probably not actually 50lbs. But it’s a good point. I hadn’t seen the limits until your comment and then I had to go look it up.
It’s alright it is a noticeably big bike wheeling around slow. My Road King is definitely easier. I’m not good like that Ride Like a Pro Jerry guy but I practice my u-turns and do parking lots just fine. It’s manageable.
How much does it lbs with scope is it around 6 lbs 🤔 carry a 10lbs rifle all day will get to me. Not yung no more and after a bad motorcycle accident just can't wak the same for miles just in pain and not good the next day. I need lighter rifle but like the Old 30-06 for mule deer 🦌 and Elk in northern New Mexico. Like the SS look all wether.
This rifle is a T3 hunter stainless which means it has a wood stock with a stainless barrel and receiver. It seems fairly light to me. I would guesstimate it is about 6.5 lbs not counting the scope. Tikka makes the T3 light and now the T3X light which has a synthetic stock and they might be a tad lighter but I like the one I got because it is so well balanced. I feel if the stock were lighter the barrel would make it more forward heavy which I don’t like in a rifle.
I have only shot it so far at ranges of about 20-25 yds. It can obviously shoot farther than that but I haven’t done it yet. I have a a 20 gauge Remington 870 youth model with a 20 or 22 inch barrel and a modified choke. It shoots a wider pattern than this .410 at the same range.
I just bought a 1100 Shadow just like yours. My former motorcycle was a 1993 Yamaha Virago, which would run 4000 rpm at 70 mph(112 kph). I liked the Virago EXCEPT for seemingly screaming down the highway. The Virago was FUN around town since it was light and quick. My only complaint is the 'skip' in gear ratio spacing between first and second gear. It seems like there is quite a jump. I will gladly tolerate this just to NOT have the engine screaming when going down the highway. I haven't seen any Shadows of this vintage with a tachometer. I am guessing the engine is turning somewhere between 2200-2800 rpm at highway speed. Has anyone installed a tach to see what the rpm is?
I gotta say I never really noticed a jump in gear ratio. It’s probably because you’re still used to the virago. Probably just need to rev that first gear out a bit more before you shift.
I had my GL1500 for 13 yrs and it is the best bike I have ever owned. The best accessory that I ever found that made the most difference and now I wont be without. The Wind Wings for the bottom of the mirrors. Allows to open for better air flow to the driver when hot and some protection on those cold days. It really helps with comfort for the passenger my wife says. I now ride a 2012 GL1800 with a full complement of Wind Wings and I would not be without them. Also the GL1800 power is amazing. Be safe, have fun. I do invite you to my channel for some videos of the Tennessee mountains..
