Hey! This channel has a bunch of videos about medical education. Some about key skills for medical students, some about family medicine as a career, and others about leadership in health professional education.
I'm David Keegan, an academic family doc at the University of Calgary. When I get time, I love putting together videos with explain aspects of medicine. Thanks for watching!
Whenever I've gotten my eyes checked, they stop at 20/20 even when i get all of the letters right. I asked if i could keep going recently and ended up with 20/15 vision, iirc. How often do doctors actually use those bottom 3 lines?
Great video. How many hours do physicians spend with paper work per day? Do you do this notes in the end of your day or while talk to pacients? Is faster to dictate? Do you spend more time with pacients or doing paperwork? Thanks🙏
So OS 20/30 -1, can they move on to the next line since they only got one letter wrong and if the pt gets two letters wrong below that, Which would be the final acuity? The line below 20/30 or 20/30 -1?
From my experience, if your not sure, then leave a good space at the bottom of the page, so that if your wrong, then you can, if required, retrospectively add further comments.
Every time I go to the eye doctor for an exam they spend almost 30 minutes trying to get close to my vision lol They flip the lenses on their machine left and right trying to get close to my vision. When they finally get it totally down my eye exam was like over an hour long.. And they tell me " You're legally blind without your glasses and with them we almost can't correct it." LoL
With kids couldn't you make a mistake if you cover their dominant eye but the child stays focused on that dominant image? Having two eyes is complicated 😅
- I've got a "signalement" presenting for "complaint" and I suspect P has "proposed diagnosis".--- gives clinician an idea about where your head is at and how deep -
With eyeglasses and doing patient care, I try to get lenses that give me 20/15 vision. New lenses every 1-2 years. But that more precise vision is great as a physician.
