Everyone knows that the "Homeland" of Banyarwanda is Rwanda. Where is their ancestral land in Uganda? They are a diasporic community in Uganda that cannot be considered natives or indigenous.
To be precise to making sense of this, bafumbira are aswell banyarwanda, are u trying to say that banfumbira, truthfully are from kisoro as there ancestral land or Rwanda, these were all created in ways if looking for survival, 70% of western territories belonged to Rwanda, that's ntungamo, kigezi region etc, so that wud be the ancestral for all Rwandese claiming citzenship
@@HerbertMuhir Uganda's constitution recognizes Bafumbira as a distinct ethnic group. Most of us would not care if all these Banyarwandas in Uganda claimed to be Bafumbiras, but that is not what they are doing. Instead, they claim to be an ethnicity which goes by the name of country. I will end where I began - Banyarwandas in Uganda are not natives or Indigenous to Uganda; they are a DIASPORA. Listen to as many of them as you like, and you will come to my conclusion.
Most analysts have failed to answer such question..why most banyarwanda are from masaka...here is the deep analysis..most batutsi fled from rwanda kingdom during early days of colonialists..they could not resentle very well in Western Uganda kingdoms since they had almost same norm with,so they ended up in buganda as workers in their livestock...but not all of them some settled in ankole and other parts and inyermarry with those host communities.....to add on that point..remember those days tribal/kingdom/chiefdom wars were rampant so those pipo felt more comfortable in buganda region otherthan other regions of Uganda.why because baganda didnt mind about their way of life...those guys stole bagandaz cows and baganda cud not care since they it wasnt their of life..and most banyarwanda of masaka intermarried with baganda leading to change way of life from being normadic pastorists to abahingyi/abalimi bemwanyi😂😂😂so masaka banyarwanda are totally diff from other banyarwanda in other parts of uganda esp..kyenkwanzi,isingiro kiruhura ,bunyoro,masindi and ntungamo....note there are those banyarwanda who just came of present like from 70s up-to-date..those are out of the issue..those should go through process of citizenship and resettlement.
Very few banyarwanda are native to uganda like those in kigezi. The majority are not natives but immigrants and refugees. Even Gashumba accepts that his grandparents were immigrants from Rwanda. The constitution is clear if your parents have no proof of citizenship even if they were born in uganda, their children can't be citizens.

Sanny, I personally think this prejudice has become worse in the last 10 years with the sitting NRA government suspicious of all Banyrwanda for being spies for the RPF government to enable it topple the NRA government if the all cases before the border closure of recent years are put into consideration. NRA top leadership especially the old guard seem to have not moved on from the 1997 clashes in DRC where it seems NRA lost that battle. M7 knows how the Rwandan refugees worked especially in intelligence during the 1980's Luwero war and the first few years of NRA Government. Another point, it being a sort of disorganised system which is preoccupied with regime survival and longevity, the Rwandan community in Uganda is viewed by the state in Uganda as an underground enemy to keep close but far by making it difficult for them to access legal documents in Uganda to easily control them.
But these two men Gashumba and Kabayiza have National IDs and passports and many others which is very okay but the immigration you blame has explained in detail why some are not granted IDs as most enter Uganda and claim Ugandan nationality basing on the fact that Banyarwanda are in the constitution as atribe in Uganda so there's no problem if they request more verification.
This Ugandan banyarwanda issue is typically the same as the Congolese banyarwanda problem. However, the situation in congo is getting worse and worse. In my point of view, the issue is about the leadership. Politicians are always hiding behind these issues.
Banyarwanda in any country tend to be organized in structured communities with a top-down leadership. This causes fear among the regime and its supporters. For instance, the Kivu province was split in two to ensure that banyamulenge and banyejomba didn't create one big community. we wish them luck still!
I listened to the whole talk Eugene needs to write a book on his life He has made wrong decisions in his life(i blame his parents not him) He also made wise decisions (putting his kids and wife first) After he was given a choice Join us or u are free I think rpf was never going to offer him cadre cada position They probably could not trust him From his back and forth in and out of rwanda Possibly they had asked burundi rwandese community on him For an opinion (rpf was a thorough organization I blame his parents for putting him Under difficult situations as a child They needed to move on with their lives in drc in 1960 Eugene could have remained in burundi after his studies And life was ok back then Even if it was likely teaching jobs in high schools Going to rwanda and subjecting himself to hutu humiliation (at the mercy of the bourgmestre.possibly a high school graduate) In burundi i m sure the 1959 refugees never trusted him To give him realites of the upcoming rpf war!! Someone did the same Former chairman of rwanda assembly sebarenzi!! Why would u force urself into a society that didn't want u But not joining the rpf to become a soldier was the best decision of his life(he could have been killed within taken as spy)
Sunny when i look at ur stature I can tell ur grand father was from royal ruling class or associated with them That's why they never gone back after they left in 61 While eugene rutagarama being from cyangungu they probably were regular tutsis with no much ties to the kingdom That's why they went back A big mistake from his father
Rebranding as ‘Abavandimwe’ is a significant step to bridge the gap and foster unity, but it’s also important for us to challenge the misconceptions that continue to divide people. Being Ugandan should be about shared values and community, not about questioning one’s roots. We need to embrace diversity rather than alienate those with Rwandan heritage.
The Problem is the Uganda 1995 constitution which pronounces Banyarwanda as a tribe in Uganda. I believe they don't qualify to be called a Tribe but rather the politics of the regime wanted to use them as numbers in elections only.
Abavandimwe was different from Bafumbila, Bafumbila used their areas as their identity, that even exists in Rwanda or in Uganda like Bakiga, Bagoyi... names related to a certain geographical location while Abavandimwe is just Brethren which is general term.
Museveni’s mission is to stay in power for life. So, he has to have all these sensitive matters in place so that he appears to be the savior. If you do not believe me, ask yourself why a minister who steals public funds in Uganda is left untouched rather than being prosecuted. It is because Museveni has such people under his fingers. The deal is, “Go out to your constituency and make sure you promote my agenda or I’ll throw you under the bus because you stole.” Same thing, keep Banyarwanda guessing what’s next and reduce them to seeing Museveni as their only savior. So, every election they vote this man thinking he will put their issue to rest but no. Because, his mission is to stay in power. So, he has to gain from your suffering as banyarwanda community.

1995 constitution names them as ugandan by tribe and rwandasa are one of the trible in uganda the rest is history ,they deserve tio have all the rights like any other trible in udanda.

Gashumba inspires me so much. From being a successful businessman man to speaking the truth without fearing criticism!! The only thing i disagree with him is about the spirituality he mentioned at the end. The fact that there are a few false prophets, it doesn’t mean that all the prophets are false. People should be left the choice to follow who they want. And those who are reported to the court for theft should be judged by the law of the land.
So you want to take all the land and ANnihilate baganda ,why not go to sebei, Teso?? In Kiboga, Lwamata, kyankwanzi, nkoma you grabbed all the land.. Why? You genocidal?? Even Kiteezi land has been taken by force Im i lying??? I was in Wabigodo Lwamata recently
Gashumba , stop that thing you always say , "there is no Muganda Family that doesn't have a Munyarwanda". That is not true. Stick to other things but that assumption is wrong.

Bahima are banyarwanda who have absorbed the original himas through marriages!! They can't survive in uganda without banyarwanda Should the bantu and nilotes of uganda decide to kick banyarwanda out they would not spare hima(they are banyarwanda under the name hima) Original hima look different from 1st family
It is truly disheartening to be denied an ID in a country where your roots go back as far as 1918, only to be told to go through the process of naturalization.
