You might be autistic if you have always been the only co-worker that EVERY ONE in the office asks to fix technical issues with their computer before actually going to IT. I noticed this in almost every job I’ve had that required basic computer/office skills. I mentioned in passing a few months back that I might be autistic (was still awaiting official diagnosis) and now my supervisor assumes I can fix everything that goes wrong in Excel 😂. It’s like I give off “I am a computer” vibes or something. Not that I’m complaining lol.

My kid is a math savant, but i doubt they consider themselves one. I have a quick question off topic. Do you know any autistics that have complete shutdowns (can't really move or communicate)? We are trying to get information on how to handle this new development in a 25 year old autistic. Thanks

You might be autistic if you can't finish listening to your favorite song because you keep replaying a 2-5 second snippet of it that just sounds so satisfying.

I have a big problem with info dumping. I am not autistic to my knowledge. I dump on my husband all the time especially since I started on Medical MJ. I'm mostly into science, left politics and history. I would love to hear you and your partner/friend info dump as long as you don't mind me doing the same in the comments. LOL

Fab! Loved this lighthearted look at the ‘tism. Here’s my submission… You might be autistic if… when you watch a film or TV show, you remember more about the tech, vehicles, gadgets, and buildings than the people or the plot.

problem is, infodumping causes trauma to the autistic. I have lost people I thought were friends due to infodumping (they see it as overtexting). Nowadays I am anxious about communicating at all, and so I self-censor. A strategy I am using (only started recently) is to record my thoughts in a note file on my phone/computer (Apple iCloud synchronises between devices). That way I can chat to myself and not feel that I am upsetting another person. It would be lovely to talk with other people about my interests, but they haven't appeared in my life and I'm approaching 40. If anyone wants to chat ad nauseum about the development of architectural techniques, structures, and economy of the 14th century in England/France, hit me up :D

Wasn't expecting this so quickly! Great Episode, but I wish you hadn't completely glossed over the part of my original comment that talked about the gender disparities I have noticed in which Autistics have success in dating. And you assumed my gender correctly, don't worry!

6:23 THIS!!!!! I used to be required to wear jeans for certain activities and it was the worst. I eventually just refused all together because my sensory issues with them and in turn my attitude/demeanor was just getting worse in with age. Now, I refuse to wear jeans for anything. If they say jeans, I hear blue dress pants.

YMBAI it drives you crazy - and you correct them out loud when watching - when content creators say that they'll see the viewer in the next one, when the next one is not a livestream with a chat box.😉

I normally don’t relate to all of the “you might be autistic if’s,” but I felt so targeted this episode haha. I can’t have a very defined schedule, but I always kind of have a secret schedule that I don’t tell anyone about, and if some plans change for the day I need a few minutes to myself to mourn the change of the schedule I had in my head. I also have the exact shirt situation you described, and what’s funny is a few of the colors feel different and I don’t wear those if I can avoid it, so I basically just wear one of the two remaining colors with the comfortable texture. I’m dreading buying new socks because I don’t know if I’ll be able to find the comfortable ones I like. ALSO, related to the layer issue, I actually had kind of the opposite problem growing up, when I would only be comfortable in jeans and a jacket over my shirt. Didn’t matter what weather it was; I could be outside hiking for the day in the middle of summer and I’d still be in jeans and a hoodie! I even slept in jeans for a time, but I’m glad I don’t do that anymore. Another entertaining episode as always. It’s good to see you both on your channel again 😊

I got nearly to the end of the video before I looked up what the sign language on Nathan’s shirt means. It was then that I realized it’s just rock paper scissors. I’m not sure if that’s the literal rigid thinking or not. If so, I’m sure there’s a “you might be autistic if…” in there.

You guys are so fun to listen to. The shirt comment was mine. I have literally worn the same exact shirt in multiple colors for over a decade. When they wear out, I order a variety of new ones. They are 100% cotton, v-neck, and loose! I also totally relate to the needing a schedule and the extreme dislike of being late or others being late. 🤯 To Alex, I also cannot layer clothes. I don’t even wear long sleeves. We have winters below freezing here and I still can’t make myself wear a jacket most days.

At 8:08 your dad commits the ultimate “You Might Be Autistic If” by explaining that the crack house across the street wasn’t a crack house because it didn’t exist so it was a PCP house. 😂 …also You may be autistic if you had to edit your comment 3 times because it was not perfectly factually accurate.

Aren’t you scared your child will too have autism? They’ll have the same struggles as we do One I wouldn’t have a child as I cannot afford too it’s expensive Second I wouldn’t want to pass this curse to my child This is only how I feel about it but I wish you great luck
@OakCroftFilms

My kid will be who she will be. I do not see autism as a curse. Much of the content on my channel is dedicated to trying to fight against that type of stigma. There are many struggles that come from being on the spectrum but there is also much beauty. And I would argue that if we built a world that was accommodating to those of us on the spectrum, fewer and fewer of us would view it as a curse. I do understand the financial concerns. As it stands, my wife and I are in a place were it is feasible for us.

Hey thanks for reading my "you might be autistic if" about the fireworks! I wanted to give a little more context around it. When I was a kid and through high school, my father was a part-time pyrotechnican. I used to enjoy the fireworks shows that he put on. I live in San Francisco now and there are so many illegal fireworks going off this time of year. They happen unexpectedly and we live on a cliff, so they are often shot from below and explode at window-height. I have had trouble reconciling my enjoyment of fireworks as a kid with my absolute hatred of them now. I realized after a trip to Disneyland where I could see the fireworks launching that it's the surprise of the loud noise and the violent chest vibrations that come with fireworks just outside my window that I hate. We were far enough from the Disneyland fireworks and I could see them launch, so I could anticipate the experience. I wore ear defenders at Disneyland. I don't generally wear ear defenders in the house -- except on July 4!

This is an interesting topic! Autistic representation in fictions! It's great you had this idea! Aside from that, it would also be awesome if Haelena from House of the Dragon was confirmed autistic! There are so many signs she might be, and it would be awesome to have ASD in such a big fiction! It's with initiative like yours, Nathan, that representation will grow in medias and fictions! Congrats and good luck on your project!

It's almost like an autistic Targaryen only if you're into "The Game Of Thrones". That's a great step to propagate autism into other story genres which could lead up to proper autism representation in Hollywood and pop culture.
