Regarding the looseness of the unit as reported by many, I found that after tightening the screw on the RHS by the glovebox door, the unit is as solid as the original.
Hi, thanks for making this video. I installed a Owtosin Snapdragon SM6125 in my Cayman 987.2 (non-Bose) with Sound Package Plus. Plugged it right in, but there is a hissing sound when volume is not at 0. Also the volume is quite loud on level 1 even. Can you share the details of the wiring changes you made?
@@EndiFreeKolesiothere is no PCCM+ unit for the second generation of the 987, only for 987.1. Also PCCM+ only has wired car play and android auto, not via Bluetooth. Super annoying.
heregoes sells the $2-$500 ones, but one downside is they only have FR/FL unamplified output which will leave you with no rear speakers on a .2 with SPP
Good review, by the way, if you can get to someone with a Porsche PIWIS diagnostic setup - then those in dash menu options (Audio/Tel/Nav) can be coded out - so they won't appear in the selection and therefore won't cause the display blanking/lockout,.
The dashboard was definitely the hardest part. Everything else was pretty straightforward. The headliner in the donor car was damaged, so not worth changing it. Cheers!
@@YarraMates If so, I think I'll swap the fabric chairs for leather ones and replace some of the cracked pieces instead of swapping all the pieces from gray to black, thanks 👍🏼 Another question if you don't mind, do you still own that car after all these years?👀
@@Bu7asni I sold the car a few years ago. I loved it and it's one of the best built cars ever. Mine was diesel and I wanted something a bit more refined, I bought an R129 SL500 instead.
@@YarraMates I don't know which is best, W124 or R129 or your taste in cars 🔥 anyway thank you for the replies, do you have a social media platform that you always post on?
I did a straight swap from another w124 wagon. From the B pillar forward all E-class interiors are the same so you can take front seats and dash from a sedan or wagon any year. Door cards and rear will be different on a coupe.
@@late221 I was wrong. no screws. They're held on by metal friction clips along the center ridge, so gently pry up from one end, and slowly work toward the center incrementally. It can be difficult to do without snapping plastic.
@@YarraMates nice thank you i was goint to lift it up but it felt like it was gonna break but now i can gently lift it up. Do I have to start from one end and move along to the other
To each his own...(color choice). I'm grateful to be able to see it be done, thanks for sharing. At one point, you were working so fast there appeared to be two of you. ;) Long Live the W124 Estate!
Hát ezt a csúnya taxibőrt kár volt berakni a szép krémszínű belső helyére... engem érdekelne a kiszerelt belső... pont ilyen touring Mercedesem van... pont jó lenne bele... ha meg van még
your carbies will never balance correctly without the Carburetor support bracket .. also wears and breaks the rubber couplings.. original air filter will fix that otherwise great car for its age ...
