Lyrics It was hard to avoid I suppose, it was the shame But they didn't even try You see, we'd never met And they didn't have names There was nothing I could do So I turned on the crowd And I screamed, "You and you It could have been you" And they seemed to think That I looked that way Or maybe I was wrong So I said, "Do you know Mr. Wall" And they looked the other way And then they smiled at me But the police came And I said it was me And I just walked away
'The Buggles' created some wonderful music. Geoff Downes is far better suited (stylistically) for this music (and 'Asia') rather than filling the keyboard chair in 'YES'.
One of an often missed beauty by one of the early godfathers of , at the time not named, Industrial Music. Impressed Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) . Take a listen to both Gary's , original, and Trent's (NIN) cover of "Metal" either way, you won't be disappointed.😊
3:40 What's up with my man's lips?? Like an angry hornet, with an axe to grind, was "powerdrillin" his lips, like he stole something the hornet wanted... he still rocks though. Gary, not the hornet.
A song composed entirely of major triads, probably because Mr Numan hadn't yet learned any other kind. Yet this is clearly a far better composed piece than when he _did_ improve his musical skills.
A fine performance. It's a shame that the decline in DVD & Blu Ray sales means that music concert videos are becoming impossible to obtain. I doubt any streaming services show this.
You see something like THIS, and most genuine music lovers shake their heads at the garbage "music" that has come out over the past 2 decades. I mean, come ON...THIS is real music. I don't care if it was the softest song, a real artist transcends the s**t and delivers on his or her talent. Gary Numan is no exception to this. Never has been, and never will be, PERIOD!
