No talk of local crits coming back?

Mike should reach out to Lil Jon's agent as a new fat bike series sponsor. Great luck Mike. A tri-talk episode would be different. Interested though in Leah's and Tim's Kona experiences would be cool to expand.

#takeoffthebeenie Not a racer in CX, yet enjoying the conversation. I would expect a nationals invitation means your considered a statistically successful competitor in your region. Getting to and racing in nationals seems like an expensive proposition. Friends of mine are invited to USA Triathlon nationals next year in Atlantic City. The mental challenge is they know going and winning are 2 different mindsets. Sometimes going for the sake of saying is a great time. Yet the idea of going to know you are not competitive at that level is a kick in the gut. It's an amateur sporting event. From the sound of your prior podcasts, it seems like the pro license racers are doing it mostly from their own pockets.

Great to listen to a new conversation. It feels like the entertainment of cycling is going to have to go the way of talledega nights for enough sponsors. Go algorithms!

Great conversation without Mike. Hope his return is well rested. The mix of topics makes an entertaining show. Any NCL news?

Great conversation. Really interested in the longer conversation on bike infrastructure. Feels like you could get a rails to trails rep or someone like that local to your community to discuss some grass roots campaigning. The race news opinion and the story swapping is a ton of fun. Not sure if you can keep up with daily tour coverage, yet a weekly recap could be a future episode now we are in July.

It seems the suffering is the entertainment in the conversation. I heard a really interesting podcast conversation with Dan Lyons, who wrote a book about being addicted to "drama". My read of your conversation is that the drama of the man vs course or man vs man is the draw for group to watch. Agree with the idea of shortening races especially for the US market. Shorter time seems to bring eyeballs, if the entertainment is good. A supporting argument is baseball in stand attendance this year vs last year. I don't watch races. I don't get to race other than 2 local long Island tris. I keep listening to a podcast about cycling for gems of conversations like this.

A flucking stellar conversation. That event planning sounds like a shart load. I think the creative usage of explicits makes a more entertaining conversation.

Hey there. Shout out to Tim for the 90's bmx shirt (step designs). Stylin'. How about an update from episode 25 back in 2017....tubeless & tubulars in cross. Has there been any advances in tubeless to warrant using them for cross yet? Maybe not so against tubulars but def over tubed tires. For certain in the gravel sector? Maybe another potential topic....parts, gear or technological advances over the years that you loved/hated.

Sending a thank you to Mike Friedman... Had new carpet installed in our workout room which required taking my trainer out and then putting it back. Because of Mike's experience frying a trainer, I have used the label maker to clearly indicate which power block belongs to each piece of equipment. No electronics were harmed because of the carpet installation.

Great episode as always. I have been thinking a lot lately about time on the bike, what does it all mean questions. I gained some clarity for myself from the episode and for that I am grateful. 👍

Never raced a crit, been wanting too. Not any through usac on long Island. Plenty of tris and participation medals. If there was a track closer to me I would give it a go. Driving into queens is not my idea of a good time...

From my own experience, the 'old guy/gal team' would just put the hurt on the younger riders. Not from fitness but from the knowledge of reading the race and team tactics.

Good stuff as always. When Rob mentioned Dave Mirra, it made me think that it's been seven years since he sadly left us. Ride In Peace Dave. My pick for rider of the week...Mathieu van der Poel. Keep up the great work!

Hey, Enjoy your discussions. Although the previous episode had some technical difficulties, and while coach Sandy had some very intersting and thoughtful things to dicuss, (ummm. yes my life is NOT defined by my FTP) there were several silent sections, and one L O N G long silent section near the end, at least on my end. I think I missed some of that conversation. Anyway, keep it all going and hope you get the technical issues sorted out. Take care back there.

Interesting topics. Let me add a bit. Never dropped a chain using 2x Campy 10s in several years of cross. I just had to replace the rear housing once or twice a season. Second, I think your discussion on positioning and crashing lacked the fact that most people need to take risks to put themselves in a position to win. A good part of racing is how much risk you are willing to take. Sometimes you get boxed in, which means you need to push your way out - either figuratively or literally. Stuff happens and sometimes it happens at the wrong time when you are vulnerable.
