Hey, thanks and sorry I missed this, I did the freediver and advanced course in the same week and then went all the way straight through to instructor which took around 3 months. I'm now back in the cold waters of Wales just about to start teaching in sub 10 degree Celsius water, big changes to the Thai temperatures haha!
@@AlexanderGent I will be teaching through the winter, starting the first course end of this month, but I'm solely teaching through the University dive club at the moment.
I'm not sure what to do in this case. I initially had a problem with the replacement Gimbal cable being broken and it was not calibrating properly, I ordered another one, fitted it and that worked fine. If the video feed is broken too it could be another issue
I replaced my ribbon cable with a new one. I met started well and I was happy it worked. Unfortunately, after flying for 20min, the same gimbal motor overload issue reappeared. And the gimbal gets hot really fast, only after starting the drone for 30sec it’s already very hot. I opened the gimbal again and tried fixing the ribbon cable. But it didn’t help. Any idea what else I could do? Replace the whole gimbal? Buy another ribbon cable from another company? Thanks
Try cleaning and the hinges in the gimbal with a small brush, if there is dirt or debris present the extra friction might cause the motors to overheat. If that fails I'd try getting a new ribbon cable, I had to do this as the first one didn't work. This is a cheaper option than replacing the gimbal. If it doesn't work you should try searching some forums for people with the same issue before you buy a new gimbal, you might find another solution.
@@Richie2Shoes Thanks. I was just about to order a new gimbal arm for $70. It has a ribbon cable already. You think I should try another ribbon cable first?
@@alexvite5065 maybe try one more cable, then replace the gimbal if it doesn't work. You can keep the one you buy as a spare because they do regularly become faulty 👍
I'm not sure sorry, I had to replace the ribbon cable twice because there was a split in the first one that I hadn't noticed. You could check all the connections are firmly in place. It might be worth having a look if someone else has done a specific video on this. Good luck fixing it 👍
Thank you, I have looked at tons of videos and yours is the only one that shows how the cable goes in completely. Most of them start, then show it finished. Look forward to the rest of your videos.
This was the best video I have seen on this topic. Thank you so much - I had been trying to replace my ribbon cable a few times unsuccessfully - this video was the difference. MP1 is back to flying.
Best video explaining how this thing goes on there. I messed up the first cable I attempted to install but now I’m much more confident that I can install it. Thanks
What tools do you need to disassemble? Besides the hex screws, what kind of plastic clip removers, or whatever you call it, does one need? *PLEASE* get back to me ASAP* !! Thank you. I need to do a repair, however, I'm not sure exactly what it is I need. *PLEASE HELP* !!!!!
I'm on my second Flex ribbon after following someone else's instructional video. This time I will have your running on my laptop to make sure it all goes well. Thanks for your efforts for detail in your work. Lesson learned: the first video may not be the best. Thanks again.
That happened to me with the first ribbon cable I changed, it turned out that was damaged upon delivery. It could potentially be that the ribbon cable was damaged when you received it, before sending it off it may be worth trying to give it one last shot and fit another cable 👍
@@Richie2Shoes thanks. But I've tried this three times now. The first two times I may have damaged it trying to install. I felt the last time based on this video I did a pretty good job. Still hoping that's all it is and the official repair company will just put a better quality cable.
Thanks for your video , my mavic is working again , what you detailed is deft the most difficult part of the procedure , thank you thank you thank you 👍🏻👍🏻😁
The funniest thing about this cable is that you do not even have to crash to damage it. Mine just gave up after 270 hours of flight from wear and tear..
Yea, I think it's due to poor gimbal design, there's a piece of plastic on the gimbal frame that rubs against the ribbon cable when you move the camera. I filed it off and haven't had any problems since 👍
i agree, mine has never had a crash or even a minor bump and is always wells ecured while in the bag,3 weeks i have'nt used it and one day i decided to fly it,voila!gimbal overload!
@@Richie2Shoes I hear you...I'll have to go look for them...and yes, you provided a good service in showing that particular part of the process...so thanks for that.
Thankyou. Totally agree, I've watched 3 videos where they quickly remove ribbon then say "just do in reverse to put together"... Totally different process, this video really helped me. Cheers, James.
Hi, Where can I buy the ribbon cable? I found 2 options in amazon that have good reviews. Can you advice if any of those 2 will work properly? www.amazon.com/Rantow-Flexible-Gimbal-Ribbon-Camera/dp/B075XKND4J/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=mavic+pro+gimbal+ribbon+cable&qid=1558972929&s=gateway&sr=8-3 www.amazon.com/Fstop-Labs-Replacement-Platinum-Flexible/dp/B06XDVFM8X/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=dji+ribbon+cable&qid=1558973080&s=gateway&sr=8-3#customerReviews
Sir, you are GOD! This is absolutely the BEST video on how to change the ribbon cable. I was ready to check into the nut house after watching countless worthless videos on this procedure, I'm talking major frustration. I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to make this video! Thanks so much!
the aluminium base and bottom circuit came in contact with sea water. i Have tried cleaning it with distilled water. the flex will arrive in sometime, ordered it today. somehow it will take 2 to 3 weeks here in india.. frustrating it is. will post update.
Excellent description... I looked at some other you tube tutorials to try and fix my mavic, your's was absolutely the clearest and also saved me from whimping out and sending the drone away to be fixed. It also saved me a load of cash, so some day I'll buy you a pint.. Thank you very much Richi TwoShoes..
Did you also lose control of the up/down of the camera and get camera shake with a broken cable ? How can you tell if the motor is damaged or the ribbon is damaged ? Thanks 🙏
Thank you so much for this tutorial! My Mavic was down since about 4 month, and I never found the time (*cough* courage *cough*) to go through this process. This morning I was determined to finally attempt the operation, and I found your video. The details that I saw in your video, which I had never seen before, gave me the courage to actually do it. And it worked!!! Thanks again, much appreciated!!!
Vichet Kfc I'm glad it helped. If you go to eBay or Amazon and type in "mobile phone screwdriver set" you will find tools similar to mine. Hope that helps
