That was 100% success... Everyones always complaining about CO hunters and yada yada yada.... Mental game is a huge part of elk hunting. Having a family that does NOT guilt trip you/make you wanna return home asap is another factor.... Never hunt with weak friends
Not sure what socks you guys were wearing but the merino socks tore my feet up on a backpacking trip. So I switched to my regular cotton socks for my Elk hunting trip and I didn't get blisters again. I also was wearing Crispi's and I think that combo worked perfect.
@@Landshake thanks man that’s all I needed to know. I’m from Texas and had a couple buddies who wanted to get OTC tags next year for first rifle season, just the views alone in Colorado are worth every bit been down there in winter for vacation but have never hunted
Someone help me out here. Why does everybody on the video blow a bugle. They here a bull, run toward him and blow a bugle at him. Bulls don’t mate with other bulls. Just letting y’all know this. I ve hunted elk 27 years. Killed 21 not by blowing a bugle at him.
Not every shots going to be perfect. There pro archers that make bad shots on animals. You’ve prolly never even shot a elk with your bow so your got no room to talk
Great video guys and great job not taking a risky shot just to fill a tag, the adventure is everything and punching a tag is just the topping, I wish you all the luck next time
The CO otc elk hunt is no joke, you guys killed it for your first time out there. It’s a tough hunt, as tough as they come. Can’t wait for you guys to have the chance and do it again! Killer video I enjoyed it
You did fantastic in your first year. To the 300lb dude, train for life. My workouts are created to help me hunt and fishing into my 60s. I'm 44 and I feel the years on me. Keep at it and never quit! Tim Ferris slow carb diet has helped me.

Very well done, & class act not taking a poor shot on the last day! You did it right, calling in that bull, except perhaps for being in a little better position for a shot. Wind may have been your nemesis though. Congrats on your "success"!
Having lived there, I learned volumes about elk hunting. Done it myself. Many hard lessons. Biggest is never giving up. Never. Keeping at it will eventually get it done. Y’all deserve a lot of credit. 😀👍👍
Congratulations on y’all success. Maybe no meat in the freezer or horns in the truck. But you learned something. Each year you will and then it will come together for you. I’m a nonresident, I’ve hunted Co 27 years and filled my tag 21 times. OTC either sex so some years it was a cow and some a bull. Good luck guys
Respect to you all. Having been hunting Colorado my whole life and knowing the toll it takes the body and brain just for a day or two. Really badass and admirable especially being a bit heavier it's no joke. Many might not fully comprehend the exhaustion and work for 9 days. Definitely earned my sub looking forward to seeing y'all's journey. Ps if you need another pair of legs and laughs i'd be happy to share my Colorado elk experience. Much love
Great videos. For OTC , you guys did real well IMO. Mental part is 2/3 of it. Had some great encounters. I'm sure you fueled the fire for more archery elk hunts. Stay with it, you'll get it done!
As a big guy myself, I feel that on a personal. I’ve lost a lot of weight and gotten so much better physically. Keep hammering boys and you’ll prevail! And let the mountians teach you things nobody else can. Good luck the rest of the season
