I lived a zombie life of denial to protect me from the horrifying reality that the people who are supposed to love me don't actually want to be caught, they want to run my pockets and leave me face down in a ditch. Have a good night.
After replaying the game you notice that Miller was the only character that was giving you useless information throughout the mission. Just vague tips, nothing really helpful. The only time he does give you proper instructions is when he wants you to insert the PAL keys for him.
Ps2 games were on another level, the games felt much deeper and dense, even though their graphics were of lower quality and the intro is also included in this aesthetic too. I can see the same sort of vibe in mid and late ps1 games as well as the early ps3 games.
Has a lot of very good insights. Unfortunately they devolved into 'simple bad guy/good guy' nonsense and usual 'we're superior and able to decide for you' anime cliche. Shame, because it is actually very very reasonable to
Gran Turismo 4 pulls a fast one on ya by taking a while to load at first, but then goes straight into the game. Seeing this on an admittedly pirated copy of a game (I still owned the game, just my original disc got scratched so I copied it from an ISO but clearly I screwed up somewhere) was a bit of a shock to say the least.
when i first saw this screen in May 2020 through a YT video (if i recall), i nearly couldn't sleep that night, now 4 years later, when i see the screen, it looks kind of... stupid, to say the least
Me watching this in 2024: dude….. this is so fucking stupid, like don’t get me wrong, it’s a good prediction of stuff but damn this is so fucking long, and just saying the same shit over and over and over and over and over fucking Jesus Christ
There is a reason why Richard Dawkins when coining the term meme invoked the word gene as the have similar meaning a gene is a collection of information that makes up a person's dna in the same way a meme is a collection of ideas that make up a culutre's colective consciousness a meme spreads like a virus infrcting all aspects of culture like a virus that effects the body just like how we use bio weapons to cull populations we use memes to shape public opinion emp lemon has a video on his channel where he talks about the use of what he calls weaponized memes on the victor of the 2016 election like genes memes are made up of the information that makes someone a person but insted of blood or gentic makeup a meme contains the belliefs culutre and additudes of the individual creating it in the same way we spread are genes by reproduction we spread our ideas threw memes its what kojima was trying to get at when he put the line "memes are the dna of the soul" into a metal gear rising a game created in the age of the internet where the culutre of memes had been growing to the point where everyone could create a memorable slogan to advertise thier personality as memes provid windows into the creators mind in a way only few where alowed access to in the past its explosion of information that this speech symoblizes the ability to post anything you want on any topic and the attempt by major governmental and corporate powers to control the flow of information by creating carefully selected context to push a narrative apposed to the essential free extange of ideas it asks the question of who should be in charge of deciding what information is deemed important enough to pass on to the next generation its this reason why its the most profond speech in video games and perhaps the history of the entire written language
