it's not a mistake due to the fact she's half human, she can withstand the sun. The drawback to that is she ages faster (physically, not mentally), and she's not immortal. She can live only up to 500yrs, another reason why Muzan hasn't killed her and absorbed her body for himself. She's deemed useless
