despite falling into the hands of the japanese, Singapore must pay tributes all those who stood behind till the very end to help fought the japanese and had laid their lives for Singapore. Highest gratitude and respect to The Aussies, indians, punjabs, british nationals who have made it possible for rest of the lucky singaporeans to live on and had gotten help from the west after the war to re-built it to the modern city of today.....but where was china back then? sadly, they were not even there to help neither malaya nor singapore when the chinese migrants were in trouble but today, china has the cheeks to accused desendants of these chinese migrants of ungratefulness and for taking sides with the west and will not become one of theirs irregarless ! At least they were willing to die proecting their comrades but sadly not the chinese communist back then. honestly, if it wasnt for the former prime minister of singapore, lee kwan yew given his guidance to deng xiao ping and his successors, china will never be what she is today!

Hi James, your video is quite helpful! We’re DWARFLAB, and we’re launching the DWARF 3, a smart telescope with features like automatic bird detection and 4K recording. We think it could enhance your content and would love to explore a collaboration. Interested in chatting?

I remember learning in army never to cross open areas.
@eventhorizon3117
@eventhorizon3117 Месяц назад
I think this Jurong line is not viable. The two rivers are really too long and Japanese could have infiltrated and try to cross at night. The defenders would probably be bypassed encircled. Was this why everyone was so keen to abandon that position once they gave any semblance of an order to do so from Percival?
@JamesTann
@JamesTann Месяц назад
It wasn't the rivers and the mangrove marshes, but the landbridge in between that gave them the best chance, perhaps the only chance, to stop the invaders. Percival totally failed to ca[italise on this advantage. Too many reasons for the failures.

When I was in the army 30 years ago, I heard the officers say that the Japanese came through from Lorong Gambas and that's why we train there. This road is no longer on the map but it would near the present day Gambas avenue. If true, it would be the Imperial Guards Division. Will u be doing something on the battles in the north?

Hello Mr. Tann, this is a wonderful video! May I point out that you mentioned that the common kingfisher was a resident, and that you also mentioned that the blue eared kingfisher is migratory? The common kingfisher is actually the migratory one with the blue eared being an uncommon resident.

This is an excellent video of the attempted defence and final fall of Singapore in February, 1942. Lots of detailed information about the Imperial Japanese Army and the organisation of its divisions, brigades and batallions etc., and likewise, for the defending forces under the British Malaya Command. Superb footage of soldiers in the jungle and movements of armoured vehicles together with maps and commentaries of battles and skirmishes fought in the days leading up to the surrender of Singapore. A superb effort that will delight viewers who want to know more about what happened during those fateful days. Keep up the good work James.

what is a good focal length for an slr camera lens for beginners?
@JamesTann
@JamesTann 4 месяца назад
Hello Patrick, there are no hard and fast rules for this. Personally, I usually use a 300mm with a detachable 1.4X teleconvertor that would suit most of my walking shoots. For a begionner, you might want to consider a 70-200 zoom but as you progress you might want a longer lens.
