So , ...I finally did hear back from Chessnut. I actually resolved a rather strange issue with the Chessnut Go, so I thought I would make a follow up remark. The Go , when connecting to the Arena Gui will sometime show an erratic LED on the first move of the game when playing /testing using engine vs engine (match). What I found was that if I connect using a USB connection, I get an inaccurate LED indicator on the first move for white. However, if I connect using Bluetooth , all works well. I only notice this issue when using the ARENA GUI. Maybe this may help some other users. I forwarded my findings to Chessnut as well, which they appreciated.
Thanks. I might actually be able to do that. I’ve gone back and forth on colour and black and white. Your suggestion might be the best option. I may try it out on the weekend when I get some time to look into it.
Chessnut can play tournaments and puzzles on Lichess? And probably also puzzles? Is it also possible two lichess player play on it? Means physical in the same room at the same board?
Yes. It can do puzzles on lichess and chesscom in the app. It has a section under “study”. I find it takes time to setup so I tend to use a computer still and have avoided that but I might look to make a recording of it since you asked. I am not aware of two players connected to lichess but if you play an opponent in real life when the game ends the app imports to lichess to immediately analyze which is very cool. I find playing in real life against an opponent and having it recorded to be the best feature to analyze. I hope this helps.
@@tylerkacsor wow thats impressive feature "game ends the app imports to lichess to immediately". Btw today i heard from ChessCam. May helps people for analyses games also by recording the game as a mp4Video. its free
The endgame was pretty interesting. The way you moved your king up and down. Did you foresee the opponent trapping their king in the corner or was it a fluke?
I have come across that type of endgame with king and pawn where you can force a draw with the king trapped in the corner so I was aware of the idea. Unfortunately, with extra tempe there would likely be ways to free themselves but if it was just a king and pawn you can make a draw.
As a Chessnut Go buyer, I have a unit that has a flickering light that shows up during gameplay. The company has not offered me an opportunity to exchange the unit after I sent multiple videos showing the issue and following their troubleshooting steps. As a matter of fact they closed my email stream, stating that they will no longer respond to my messages. I think potential customers should be aware that the company is not honoring their warranty policy.
Thanks for the comment. That is really unfortunate. I haven't had any issues thus far, but I will keep an eye out for it. I just bought another board as well... so if I run into any issues I will 100% post a video about it similar to my DGT videos.
Thanks for posting that. If the makers of the board actually play chess they should understand that good customer service is good strategy. I’ll hold off buying one myself, and will not consider it unless they improve their game.
I'm wondering whether these chess sets can handle Fischer random games [chess 960 etc]? This variant is becoming reasonably popular amongst many of the top players now! I'm with you on the idea of not hooking up to a computer! Preferably, play versus the computer program itself [but knowing its playing strength also]. So, if it's Stockfish, say, state its ELO! So, a future computer may have to have: 1. ability to play chess960 [together with the quirky 'castling' rule!!]; 2. a decent ELO rating [say 3000 ]; 3. a top chess program in it to run apart from hooking up to an online source!; 4. a relatively decent price [for poor ol' pensioners like me!!].
Good question. They can do chess 960. It works with DGTPi connected but I'm not sure how to set it up without one of those or Fritz which also allows for this. Normally the DGT recognizes a new position is setup and will record moves without any computer required. I am not aware of any 960 mode without external devices. I'll try to set it up and make a recording the future. I'll also have a new tournament sized e-board to test side by side.
I didn't really know at the time but the next day I was refunded points and I don't play a lot of games so I checked the opponents account from the previous day which was this guy and his account was closed due to fair play violation. I came back and added the comment so people were aware. It always surprises me that people will cheat at lower elo chess. I mean whats the point?
@@tylerkacsor I think that's because they want to show their 'chess proficiency' to other people. Even then what's the point they'll know how good you are in a match.
Hey bro, just started watching and all the vids are so chill, just wondering why everything is black and white? For me the colour is quite calming, but each to their own!
Thanks for watching. I used to do them in colour, I still do my reviews and stuff in colour but lately I've found that the black and white somehow reminds me of a more simple time. A time I wasn't really around for but still saw in movies and old tv shows when I was younger. So I figured why not do something different. I might mix in some colour ones in the future and call them "technicolour" like the old days because the board highlighting does look better in colour. Cheers, Ty
I just got the pieces. They’re on my DGT board in this video. You can order a board separate from them I really love the look of their rosewood boards personally.
very cool. Designing it digitally? making it of wood? I've always wanted to carve or commission a set, but the first option is time consuming, and the second is expensive. If you ever finish it let me know I'd love to see what it looks like. I think the King and Bishops of this set definitely have a distinctive look.
I completely agree. I’ll be taking them to the club this week. It will be such a nice change from the traditional. I’d love to find an original. I’ve already started scouring eBay.
I've had it for around a month and I'm very pleased. I have a train trip from Ottawa to Toronto next month and I'll enjoy the 4 hours not having anything to do but play on my board. :)
Oh man that sounds like a great usage. Let me know how it goes. I'm originally from Oshawa but moved out west a few years back. I have really enjoyed the bot's.
For those who are good or better hit classic next if you have a good computer as I do put the depth up to 8 next choose you time limit next go to file and look for open chess opening click on fritz 19 opening double click this then hit new game NOW!!! you are playing this program at its highest level! Forget the stupid easy mood, its worthless! OH!!! one more thing when you first load the game, go to engine advance mod, and click on the highest number possible, you will hear a thud, reboot your computer so your computer can set the correct Hash tables, now go to step one! NOW!!!!! your ready for a great battle!!
I know what you mean. I see it when I watch things on YT as well. I think at this level there is the possibility of great games but also pretty poor ones. I know my play isn’t solid enough and I’ll do random things if the position is boring. What do you think?
I am not in love with the laptop ideal I recently started to use whitepawn but I need to use an old android phone I had lying around. It works amazing. Highly recommend if you're taking the board on the go. I looked at the dgt pi it looks very cool I've got to say. I have a few clocks otherwise I'd probably pick it up. Can you upgrade the clock as new engines come out?
@tylerkacsor hi yes it is upgradable...I'm on version 3...its got loads of different engines...also, what i like is if you hook up a speaker you get moves in a real voice and also some sarcastic comments! Lol..its way too powerful for my level of play . Many of the engines have multiple levels of play etc...all the best ..
I thought my opponent played a great game with some complex pins. Turns out the account was closed for fairplay violations, and I got the points back. LOL.
You didn't tell us or show us anything! Will it work with an iPad, or phone? So us how it look on devices. We came here because we want THAT board not some other board. Does the software tell you when you checkmate or in check or made an illegal move?
Thanks for the comment. This was my impressions and review after owning it for a long period of time. I did do a demo video more recently that highlights how responsive it is in a new version of fritz as someone had requested it. There are a lot of video's that demonstrate the function's, but I will say that the software it comes with is an old version of fritz which does show you when you make illegal moves it also allows you to play on the chessbase servers which I don't use. I use iphone as well and I haven't found a good app yet. I think the best bet is to use android and aart biks chess for android works well I used to use acid ape chess on android and it worked great as well but I haven't used that in many years. Since the board just relays moves to the chessbase programs you can set it to indicate illegal moves and checkmate, it will also speak them aloud. I think my point was ultimately that this is a great study board to have at home and to play around with chessbase programs but if I was going out and about I want better reliability and more features and it looks like new boards are offering that.
@@IMUHBOXER Nice you'll love it. I got it because at the time it was really the only good option, and the sets looked so nice during all the super gm tournaments. I agree with you and think that the craftsmanship is the best currently their boards and pieces are just too nice to resist. Is this a tournament set for home or will you travel with it? I'm looking to get a smaller board for analysis and travel. I play at the club every so often and it would be great to capture the games and not risk having my DGT somehow broken.
@@IMUHBOXER Awesome. Well, you'll love the board. I wish I could get my family into playing but I haven't had any luck yet. I bought it as a beginner as well. You can't go wrong with a quality board. Enjoy it and let me know how you like it when you do pick it up. I've seen some people say the white pawn app is good. I'm going to try it out in the next week or so.
Thanks. Good spot on your end for sure. It's so easy to overlook in game. I wish I found the tactics the review outlined. I guess that's the challenge of not having an elo bar in game :)
Hello! Could you please record an explanation video: two real people (or one person, playing white with the left hand and black with the right hand) are playing chess with Dgt's electronic chessboard. Can you connect the chess game you are playing to the computer? After that, the chess game screen or real-time game information can be imported into a certain chess website or chess Ai to see the Ai's evaluation of a certain move they are playing (good chess, bad chess, single exclamation mark, double exclamation mark, single question mark, double question mark, and the + - score bar of the black and white square, up and down, up and down, up and down, up and down), which can very intuitively let users see whether each move in the game they are currently playing is good or not, and if not, then the correct move is where to play (click the mouse, A series of follow-up changes can come out). Can you achieve it? Looking forward to your explanation video, thank you.
@@XIAOBAIZHANG-ym8pn my pleasure. DGT is a great board and one of the nicest looking in my mind which is important if its on display. The software could be better but if i was doing it all over again I might go for the chessnut boards due to cost. I definitely don’t regret this board it’s still great I think I also just want something a little smaller to take around. It’s always a toss up.
@@jakobmusic9187 I'm strongly looking to go that way. I need something a little more compact. I do like the ichessone for the fact that it's standard tournament size but folds over itself. I'm trying to see if I can get a copy to check it out. Would you be getting the chessnut pro for full size or are you looking at any others?
I will have to take a look for the white pawn app. I have kept an old android phone around to use chess for android. I'll get it tonight and see how it works.
I like the DGT Smart Board. It's quite a bit lighter and easier to take on train to parks, cafes etc for meetups around NYC. I mainly use it for recording blitz and rapid games during meetups with friends. Only issue is that I have to carry a phone sized power pack due to no internal battery.
I somehow missed the DGT smart boards when I was looking for new boards and instead saw the pegasus. This looks like a full sized board? Very cool. I'll take a deeper look at this as I'm still looking for something new to take with me to the club as well. How do you like it for recording rapid and blitz? Does it work well? Do you bring a tablet or phone to connect to it as well?
@@tylerkacsor The DGT Smart Board is essentially a lightweight version of the standard "big" DGT e-boards, both in the sense of physical weight and of price. It's thinner and lighter, the surface is plastic (but decent looking which, sadly, is not so much the case with the plastic pieces set). But otherwise it works exactly the same as the wooden e-boards (current version with USB Type-C connector). It is also full sized (I have even seen them used in Reykjavík Open tournament recently) and it's also compatible with all existing electronic piece sets from DGT. If you already have a wooden e-board and don't want to get rid of it, it probably makes little sense to buy a Smart Board as all you get is a thinner and lighter board but no additional functionality. IMHO the product targets people who want a tournament size e-board but prefer something less expensive and/or easier to transport than the wooden DGT e-boards. If you want a fancier board for online play and don't mind smaller size (or prefer it), Pegasus is probably more suitable choice (or similar boards from other companies).
