Thresher is one of my favorite folders of all time. These knives look cool. There is something about the highfin blade shape that is yearning to reprofile that fin into a bottle opener in my mind. Call me crazy. Love you mike, looooong time follower.
I like using ulti clip, but I also like what you did with the paracord for horizontal. I put some of those Molly Clips in my basket in Amazon, I'll try them too.
The blades for these were orginally made by Blackjack when they were still in production in Illinois (USA) when they first came out. They sold them directly under the BK&T brand.
Thank You, yeah black timascus has zirc in it, its the black you would see normally in black timascus. Its blackened by heat. Timhis one is regular timascus without zirc, just 3 titanium alloys
Holy cow, I thought I recognized your voice. I used to subscribe to your channel several years ago. Somehow I got unsubscribed. I'm glad I found you again. I agree with you, this is an awful lot of machine for the price. A single speed 1x30 with a 1/3 hp motor will cost you about $50. I've seen a few videos on this machine and the one thing almost everyone complained about was the platen. Which is an easy thing to fix.
I think it would be worth while to build a contact wheel and a fuller wheel for this unit. I don't think it would be very difficult at all. Mainly just need some flat bar, and figure out a way to mount the wheel or roller to it.

I purchased a SRK in CPM 3V with an oilve drab handle because it was on a super sale (new) for $77 (with a first time buyer's added discount) from Midway USA and I am going to make a micarta handle for it. I'll likely make my handle using carbon fiber for the finger guard and pommel and green canvas micarta for the main handle area but will epoxy the carbon fiber and micarta together before sliding it onto the tang so it has a seamless integrated look without screws or pins on the handle. I'm not expecting to be batoning much with it since I have other knives more suitable for that and as such, don't need the extra security/strength that screws or pins would provide. It's good to see other enthusiasts venturing out into customizations of their own designs, just as you've done here. Hope to see more videos from you.
I have been waiting for these to come back in stock. I have been using a Palmgren / Norse / Dayton / Craftsmen 2x42 that is popular on Amazon to make knives currently. It takes some working with it, and requires paying attention and not overheating anything, but it works.. I don't have a ton of "shop space" as I am just in my basement, and I don't have a ton of money either, so this will be perfect for what I need to do. I churn out maybe 2 - 5 knives a month (5 on a "busy" knife month lol), so this will be above and beyond for my needs. I watched other videos and as long as you aren't hogging off steel and putting massive amounts of pressure on it, as well as you replace the platen backing like I would do with ceramic glass or something, I believe these will work out just fine for many people!
