Congratulations on making something for your father, I appreciate it. The knife turned out beautiful and functional with the anatomical handle shape you made. May you have all the good things of God.
Cześć, mam 2 pytania ..1. Kiedy najlepiej zbierać kore brzozową na rękojeśc ? 2. Jakim olejem zabezpieczyłeś rękojeść. ..świetny film . Pozdrawiam i sub!
There is no archeological evidence the vikings used this symbol. The helm as a real item however is mentioned in viking age protecting fafnir until he is slayn by Sigurd. But the symbol itself first appeared in Icelandic manuscripts in the 19th century, so centuries after the viking age and when Iceland already was christanised. There are many wrong assumptions about that time, which are quiet wide spread through ideas of the vikings which came up way later in history or apperead in modern pop culture, fantasy literature, abuse of the culture from nationalist movements in Europe in the last centuries till today and so on.
Was the bark heated prior to the pommel being pressed on ? I saw the steam coming off but didn't see the heating. Had to watch with sound off , wife watching commercial sand twiddling her phone.
Thank you! I've made it this way, because it's much easier to sharpen, especially when someone is not into sharpening this kind of bevel. I know that "traditionaly" it should be on zero, but I've decided to make a secondary bevel on the cutting edge because some people might have trouble with sharpening it correctly.
Are polar blades 80CRV2 better than LAurin metalli 80CRV2? They are the same steel that seem to be the same hrc around 59. Which one is better? Are they both made by Laurin metalli? thanks in advance.
Back then when I was making handles for already made blades I didn't see any difference between those from Polar and Lauri. I preferred those from Polar because those have ricasso and it was easier for me to make a hole in a brass bolster. I'm not sure if they are made in the same factory, or not. Anyway both are great blades and I've made a lot of handles to them. Nowadays I'm making my own blades and soon there will be new videos on my channel from making puukko knife.
@@kornickihandmades4620 Thank you very much sir. I found a knife made with a Polar blade, both the handle and the sheath is much better quality and design than the traditionals I see pictures around internet. He asks 100 but totally deserves it. They are probably made by Lauri metalli, so I will take the risk and buy that knife. Thank's for the response!
Thank you for posting this video you make it look so easy! loved seeing the finished knife handle the scales material is stunning. I have saved this video as this will be my go to video when I try to make a knife one day!! 🤩🤩🤩😎
This is probably to old and you don’t see these but what is the accessory or tool used like a broach to make the handle parts? You know what I mean the Drexel is drilling and hollowing out with what?
Hi there I wasn't here for a long time, but I hope to be more active on yt. After drilling with Dremel i hollowed the hole out with a file. It was a standard flat file for metal.
Kornicki Handmades ohh so u used a little file in the Drexel chuck head or whatever it's called. I long ago put on the se piece that tightens the mandrel and haven't even thought of that.. Very cool. And thanks
Oh sorry, I wasn't present at yt for a looong time :( check my fb page in case you'll be interested in some of my works. I'm a little bit more advanced in knives since then.
What a wonderful piece with the Ægishjálmur you made ... a month ago I embroidered the Ægishjálmur because it is such a special symbol ... have a lovely weekend .. :-)
