Tawny Frogmouth in F-tier? Are you kidding me? :D In which universe would anyone even think that ever? Also with no explanation whatsoever why, just because it costs three food? Sorry, I am just so shocked :D It has incredibly strong hunting ability with over 96% success. We played a game just yesterday with friends and it suceeded for my friend every single time getting something like additional 12 points on top of it's 5 points as it was part of a solid wetland engine. And it can be even placed in any habitat it is needed for. It is at least solid bird if not pretty strong one. Otherwise, nice video, Wingspan is amazing game, enjoy! :)
Can't change my mind, bow fucking sucks. Any weapon that requires a specific hammer upgrade is shit imo EDIT: nvm lol. started using the dash cancel thing and I can see why everyone likes it.
I know it's years later, but I just picked up hades and I'm seriously impressed with the density of quality info here. It's a shame your videos didn't get more popular; this is perfect for new players.
I have so many questions lol(just started playing, ny furthest is the third boss from Elysium) What are those nine items at the top left corner. Your escape portal is different. How you unlock weapon upgrades?
Love the list (good Oceania perspective) but what do omnivore birds have to do with nectar? Can't you use nectar to play any kind of bird? I would think wild food spots was the least compelling use of them, since they enable you to play hard-to-play food combinations generally.
Alright let’s see if this helps me. I just quit on a run with the Chiron bow bc I felt slow and inept and I just… wasn’t having any fun. Gotta see if I can start climbing that learning curve
Omg, oologist is either A or S tier. It’s like free 6 points. You are the first person I’ve seen who dislikes this bonus. :) Also disagree on valuing omnivore expert so highly, but seems like you play Oceania so maybe that changes things up. The others I more or less agree with.
Also a symptom of Oceania meta; for base and European expansions, Oologist is much better. Still wouldn't say S, but A seems correct to me. In Oceania, it's much worse because the egg row is much worse, and alternate forms of egg-laying, often which have restrictions, tend to be meta
Ahaa that makes sense, never played Oceania. Egg row does seem overpowered in the base game, I mean there are some games where I don’t do anything too smart except eggspamming for the last 6-7 turns or so :D That’s probably why Oologist is automatic 6pts in 99% cases for me. Do you think egg row is a problem in base game? Or you just prefer Oceania for different reasons?
@@Mislav88 Small problem; it's definitely stronger than the other rows in base game, and that combined with powerful birds in the egg row leads to really op strategies. I prefer Oceania's boards, and also enjoy the birds there
First question: At roughly 2:00 by "food engine" are you referring to an engine built in the forest or an engine which generates food? Second question: does it impact your tier list at all if you're playing with or without the European expansion? Right now we have only added the Oceania expansion and don't have the European birds.
With Australian Raven, all that's important is being able to generate a lot of food. Engines in the forest as well as engines that generate food well synergize well with the bird. I've played with and without the European expansion, and in my opinion those birds don't impact the game to nearly the same degree as Oceania does. I didn't have either strictly in mind, though I don't think the list changes much if you focus strictly on (Base + Euro + Oceania) vs (Base + Oceania).
I mean I like seeing ppl appreciating this game so much that they create tier lists, but this one sucks. Just to mention a few misplacements: Magpie-Lark, Australian Owlet-Nightjar, Masked Lapwing and Little Pied Cormorant are too low, Australian Magpie, Mistletoebird, Eastern Rosella and Galah are too high
Lol, i got ALL these boons upgrades in a random run not knowing how it would go. It goes exactly as you see here. You WRECK all bosses, they don't stand a fucking chance (not as good for regular enemies but who cares)
i just got tried that crystal for the first time (just beat the game) and got some artemis upgrade with it. i got the increase accuracy, mirage shot and duration increase. its hella fun
1 question. After getting 4 God boons, why would equipping keepsakes of non God pool decrease probability of getting it? As per your explanation after getting 4 God boons , probability of another God drops close to zero. Did I understand it incorrectly?
After getting boons from 4 gods, your pool is full, and no other god will naturally spawn. However, equipping a god keepsake other than those 4 gods will still 'force' that god to appear, and then when you take a boon from them, you'll now have 5 gods in your pool instead of 4. From then on, whenever a boon is generated, it only has a 20% (100/5) chance to be the god you want, instead of a 25% (100/4) chance as with a 4 god pool. Does that make sense?
@@Chess.Challenger Thanks. Yes.. I was thinking BEFORE getting the 4th boon. AFTER getting 5th boon, chance of getting the required boon drops to 20%.. Thanks again..
This is the best guide i have read or watched. I was starting to wonder if RNG of Hades was a bit too much. Because one run unstoppable, next run flaccid d***. This gives so much perspective into the game for a player completed a dozen runs. Not an absolute beginner guide though. I would suggest putting a catchy thumbnail & video title. Because this should get so much more views as the content is excellent and to the point.
Hurt boxes (the part of characters that can be hit, like Joker and Ridley's body) push at other hurt boxes they come in contact with, resulting in light characters being pushed more than heavier characters. This mechanic is why you can't run through your opponent when you're both on the ground in Ultimate, and why specific hitboxes will consistently whiff when they shouldn't. In this case, Ridley looked like they were going to land to the left of Joker, but jostle started applying and apparently more of Ridley was on the right. You can see Ridley being pushed to the right and Joker to the left in the later portions of the clip, which is why the grab missed.
@@ketchubb I don't know if you get notified for other comments I make in this thread; I've explained it in another comment here. It's a really weird mechanic that imo causes more problems than it solves.
all I know is it's a lot more speed based. never thought about this mechanic much but pushing characters is less about weight (still kinda about weight) and much more about run speed. example: shield broken characters.
@@ketchubb If you're running into a character to move them, that may be a case, but in this example where there was no real movement on my part, the jostle was completely based on weight AFAIK. I'm not entirely clear on how it works if both characters are grounded and dashing into each other, for example.
This is true, and intended! Dash-strikes charge up noticeably faster than regular attacks, to the point that spamming dash-strikes does better dps than regular attacks, not to mention the additional mobility!
I appreciate the effort but you kinda lost all pretence of objectivity when you ranked the Butcherbird in B and the Frogmouth in F despite them being pretty much the same bird (5 points and 2 egg spaces killing birds for 3 food with very similar cost with a power that will average 1 point per activation).
I may not have stated it directly in this video, but the guide is meant for people that aren't good at the bow, not precisely for people that are complete beginners to the game. You unlock aspects very early, for most people less than 10-15 runs I would guess. Nonetheless, all my advice for Zag aspect applies directly to base bow, which I believe I directly mention. My goal is to make the info useful for as many people as possible, not cater to a very narrow audience. Players that don't have aspects are a very small minority, because you unlock them early in the game.
This is essentially what happens with mouse and keyboard, you can dash in any direction with wasd but the attack will always land where the mouse cursor is, dash right and strike left etc. Not very useful though, mouse keyboard is inferior to controller in this game
I've never noticed it before, but it seems you get coins after defeating all of the minions spawned in a wave! Same thing happens at 0:20. Good catch; I didn't even know this was a thing! Only matters for Hoarding Slash runs, but still interesting nonetheless!
I would personally say passerine specialist is practically D tier because the general trend I've noticed is that bigger birds USUALLY have more feathers to them, so to have 4+ small birds just to get that bonus is sacrificing a lot of bird victory points. Nice vid tho
That's fair! I've just found that a lot of good brown power birds are smaller, so oftentimes the birds I keep and play round one and round two are smaller, which is sometimes enough for the lower bracket. I agree that it's a pretty bad bonus card though; definitely a strong argument for d tier.
