The movie is from Israel. It is filmed in Haifa. The actors are all Israelis. Very interesting portrait of their culture. I thought Israel was open minded
الثلاثة تمثيلهم غير مقنع بتاتا كانهم يستظهرون ما حفظوا لا تعابير جسدية حتى حركاتهم خارج السياق الافلام القصيرة تعتمد لغة الجسد والحركة وملامح الوجه لتجعل المشاهد مشدود للقطة التي ستاتي بعد للاسف كفكرة فهو فلم جريء لكن الممثلون افسدوا الفكرة ولم يوصلوها بطريقة احترافية من يظن ان الافلام القصيرة سهلة وبامكان اي ممثل تاديتها فهو مخطئ فاصعب مافي السينما والافلام هو الافلام القصيرة ان توصل فكرة في اقل من ربع ساعة بمشاهد متناسقة دون نشاز او فراغ وان تضع مقدمة وعقد ونهاية لفلم قصير فهذا من اصعب الامور لهذا وجب الاستعانة بممثلين موهوبين ومتمكنين

i am from the same culture. There is compromise on both sides but in the end, no real solutions....which makes the film pointless and just exposes closeted gays that may be blending in under cover. Because the filmmakers are Christian Arabs and Jews trying to depict the plight of Muslim gays when they could never understand it because closeted religious Muslims are also in conflict internally, not sure what route to take, or what the meaning of their plight is. There is a huge difference between being gay and being sexually active in Islam. Society can understand orientation but will not be sympathetic to sexual exploration. This film does nothing but threaten to out people faster than they can process what they want in life themselves. selfish, reckless, and treacherous if you really knew the agony of a true closeted religious Muslim LGBT person. They have Quranic verses in the film on the wall to depict a Muslim family but the director and probably the actors are nonMuslim Palestinians, or at least nonreligious people in general. A true gay person would never wish agony on a fellow LGBT. It really helps noone, whether you're out or not...just gives the homophobes the clues to stomp out loopholes gay Arabs/allies use to find each other. which is why i find this so disheartening and foolish I do admire the courage, I just can't see the conservative societies being accepting anytime soon.
Parents, have this notion. Once they have children. They have the right to control. And dictate their lives forever. Even as adults. Loving someone of the same sex. Isn't a crime. But they treat them like criminals. Because, they don't want to live. The life their parents demand. Do not" they understand" they chose the person they married. Why" can't I chose, the person I ❤☮️
A very good short film that is much better than a lot of what I have seen from Brazil, India or China/Japan. The young man wants to fly and his wings were cut off by his brother and father - clearly visible in the last scene. All three wear black, like a uniform. He was brought into line and now no longer wears a pink shirt, nor does he have a motif with a rifle that shows him to be peaceful and at the same time fighting for his cause. How ridiculous is the family's fear of what others say. The young man should separate from her and emigrate to a country where he can not only study medicine and dance, but also live an openly gay life. He shouldn't stay in the Middle Ages. There is something wrong with the person who says God is enough for me.
For the family, I don't think societal ostracization is something to shake a stick at, especially in really anti-gay cultures. For me, the ending of this film has to be taken in social, cultural, etc. context. The wearing of black by all can be seen different ways. Now the family knows about him at least, and he's still accepted (hasn't been kicked out), but they also have to balance the reality of his identity with a need for all of them to exist in a society that is oppressive about sexual nonconformity. He's a part of the family, but he has to also fit in for their sake. The reality is it requires some compromise, but it's not necessarily a defeat for him. But again, that's just one possible interpretation of the ending. All that said, you're probably right. I think he also got a text at the end that he had to ignore, so clearly being controlled. Also, after looking up the word "Mlukhiye," I see that it is an ancient traditional vegetable-based dish, I guess representing tradition/familial tradition, but also just food for sustenance - what is needed for survival. But so what is the point in that case? Doesn't sound hopeful.

It has been 33 years since my husband and I have been together.... him much younger..... his Dad still does not accept him, but once every 4 years might tell him that he loves him..... He gave up on his dad 25 years ago..... just an ass to all.... a "poor" me guy..... it can be hard in America, but I cannot imagine over in the Mid East..... cultures..... They (folks everywhere) always act as if they are saints...... just gotta live life..... and love who you are...... Yes, It is hard at times.

The next thing you come to know is that the infuriated jilted Catfisher tries to accuse the guy for robbing something from him. On one side is the homophobic society while on the other, is the dark side, within the community, where there are people who make it unsafe.
