Let's talk soccer from an American perspective! I'm a life-long soccer fan. I played growing up. I've coached youth soccer for many years. I've even created programs and written books for youth soccer players. I have a training channel @thesoccerspecialist and I've been wanting to create a channel to talk about the game from a fan perspective for a long time. Here it is!
Apparently you people have not watched Chelsea this woman is aggressive and like attacking football but most of all she likes to win. America has no style no team has style they have a plan of action. Transition is moving from defense to offence. The best teams have a quick passing style that catches the other team off guard. If you watch European WOMEN's FOOTBALL it is faster and quicker passing than here. The European teams have been advancing and we play the same way for the last 12 years. I suggest you watch the Women's Euro Competition and the Women's Super League you will see the huge difference.
I think the coach wants someone else, maybe Swanson, to step up as a leader, and she can't really do that if everyone is looking to Morgan for leadership.
THANK GOD! Emma Hayes knows exactly what she’s doing. This should have happened years ago. Maybe now we can win. Alex Morgan has sucked for a while now and it’s just true sorry if you get butt hurt but it’s just a fact
Uswnt soccer team lose on olympic Paris 2024 Team women soccer Spain win gold olympic Paris 2024 Team women soccer England win perak and team women soccer German perunggu
Totally agree, Dunn should not be on this roster. She's just not that good anymore. As far as why Morgan was left off, Alex has lost a few steps since she turned 30, everyone of the women in the attacking line are faster than Morgan. Speed kills. USWNT needs to field the fastest team we can.
Sorry I missed this. I agree that Alex has lost a step. What's most impressed me about her game post-30 is her passing skills and creativity to facilitate other players in the final third. That's why I like the idea of putting her on a line with a couple of those speedsters I think they would benefit from Alex's play-making ability, more so than having Alex out there as a goal scorer. Thanks for commenting!
They need versatile players due to limited roster and short recovery period between games. Also, Alex slows down the attack, which doesn't go well with speedy wingers. She has not been scoring lately, so there may be some issues with a lack of confidence. Emma needs to be the biggest star around the squad (just kidding). If only Alex could also play CM/CAM, then we can make the case to include her. But we really need to move past Alex. She has served the USWNT well, and her time has passed. Younger players need the experience if we want to really compete in 2027. Dunn will probably play LB. Don't let this roster fool you. Nightswinger can not stop the caliber of wingers we are going to face in this tournament.
Wish our national teams weren't agenda forcing clowns. Get rid of the Pride shit and just focus on playing a game, not which hole people like to get poked in.
One of the worst things done by the gringos was to let all of us colombians into the stadium, we were looking more like locals than foreigners, yall have to do like we do in south america, we do 70% colombian 30% foreigners so our players feel at home, u cant let all the foreigners in your house
I was wondering if in part she was referring to what happened in the first half, where there were a couple cases of long "home run" passes toward goal, which looked fabulous, and would have been if either of the recipients making the run had scored, but were really low probability opportunities, examples of impatience (a shorter version of the old Rapinoe to Wambaugh pass, spectacular when it resulted in a score, but it usually didn't). That speculation aside, the USWNT has long history of being ineffective in moving the ball around in the final 18 to create opportunities, but rather bailing out with low probability shots. It also has a fairly long history of a weak passing in general from roughly the midfield forward, i.e., a lack of crisp, timely passing. After awhile, I wondered if it was something about women, i.e., strength and size of the ball or pitch, sort of like the greater difficulty women have making layups in basketball, that is, until I saw some of the European women's teams in action with steady crisp passing. Under Twyla Kilgore, I could see that they had started to work on it, and then against South Korea, it was clear some time had been devoted to it in camp. Crisp, accurate passing is about control, and creates the basis for effective tactics.
Good stuff! Thanks for chiming in! Yeah, I think maybe it's the way she used transition that was throwing me off. I think of transition as that time you go from defense to offense, which is a great opportunity to attack forward because the opponent is in an offensive shape and there are gaps to exploit. She seemed to be using it in a different way. One of the big things being exposed, like you mentioned, now that the world is catching up, is very predictable play in the final third. I chalk that up to how we coach and develop in the youth game. We don't let players be creative and make mistakes. It's all do this, don't do that, don't dribble, make this pass, go here! Ha!
@@90PlusStoppageTime Thanks. I don’t know about the ins and outs of U.S. youth development, but the point about the world having caught up and more is definitely to the point. What the USWNT could get away with in the past became a glaring weakness. The U.S. lacks the integrated developmental connection between men’s and women’s football through academies. When that connection was made in Europe, strategy, tactics and skills developed rapidly in the women’s game. I’m guessing that’s part of the point Hayes has been making about the advantages of playing in Europe for U.S. player development.
Giving balls away in dangerous areas will cost you. Colombia's pressure to win balls coming out the back was well coordinated. The US need a solid play maker that can dictate the pace. US has talented players but not a solid core that understand how to play at the highest level. Colombia is really not that strong. Imagine what will happen if they play a team like Germany or France.
Colombia has done over BRASIL in official conmebol qualifiers, beat, Spain in wembley, Germany in Germany, no one is surprised that the USA got picked apart by Colombia, so...
But they didn't get picked apart. That's what was so bad. Most of this disaster was self-inflicted by the US. A good team doesn't make the mistakes the US made last night. I guess the bright side is since they did it to themselves, it should (hopefully) be fixable.
The ussf was surprised. Berhalter was surprised. The Players were surprised. tons of fans were surprised. I saw the ultras podcast, one picked it as a drawn one picked it usa by one goal. They were extremely surprised. So who the heck are you talking about when you say "no one"? Do you mean no one who matters or cares?
Colombia is a really good team but so much of this disaster was self-inflicted by the US. A good team doesn't make the mistakes the US made last night. I guess the bright side is since they did it to themselves, it should (hopefully) be fixable.
It was definitely an offday for the US team. As the Colombian coach said, there was not a 4 goal distance between the teams. However there may be that between the first and second strings. It was 2-1 with the US dominating for a while. But then both coaches made several changes and 3 Colombian goals came within 15 minutes with only 20 left.
But they need to address Robinson, cause he has not been good with ball pressure. You see the reason why, this USMT that on an injury is not playing, if he's playing, he could have produced.
Y'all Gara understands that this is not the United States we saw in the World Cup, maybe they take the copa America for granted. But again, I prefer to draw calendars to Turner. Listen, if that game is being played again, I bet you that Columbia is not gonna win, but the system that is being introduced probably helps Columbia to win. Something must be wrong in defence, and I had another suggestion, why Zimmerman and Tyler Adams that plays in the world cup are not in the game, you see what I am talking about?
What Hayes wants from possession is to be able to hold the ball up in the front third, as part of attacks, to be able to control the ball more to give more opportunities/overload with front 3. If you noticed there was distinct short triangle work between front 3, and mids. The front 3 are fast, but they are also good passers in front third. You are right about overuse of the wings, and how Spain develops play. I feel Hayes is giving team more structured control, while still playing to assets like speed. I think she is right, teams like Spain will demolish you with control. You need good passing in small spaces. I think she is also right about flexibility in your side, given diverse teams, and schedule, let alone fatigue.
Be happy that the USWNT has so many good players including the forwards. Please learn to patiently wait. Let Emma and her team decide it. It's not your or our job to decide or even participate. Then, watch whoever plays, cheer the team, and have fun. 🙏⚽🏆🥇🎉
I hope she doesn't ruin our American playing style and make it boring like the European style. Where nothing happens for sometimes an hour. It will empty our stadiums.
Nice generalization about Euro style. I highly doubt you watch much of it. The American playing style is stale, thus why Hayes has been brought in. Its one dimensional.
@@locuus7 I can't watch the full games, too boring only highlights. American style is constant attacking fun games. Thus the big attendance every week end.
US players have low soccer IQ and poor vision, generally. I read Hayes comments that Spain will defeat us because we won't have the ball and will chase the game so need to develop patience---something the USWNT is not known for. I don't think this necessarily means a low block and counterattack. She might want a mid block and counterpressing in a more stout midfield configuration, daring Spain to go over the top against a back 3. we shall see.
"In transition" means kick and chase instead of build out from any place on the field, play to space instead of just to players...just watch Spain women, they build, every player always moves to space or continues to be involved in play AFTER they pass the ball. Constant movement, forwards, backwards sideways.
A transitional game means getting the ball back by the defense and convert that into an attack the fastest possible way.....that what a transitional game essentially means....the US is notoriously slow in that regard.....but don't worry...Spain is pretty slow too, however Spain is a bit faster and more technical than than the rest of the world. The reason is that the pace of an attack is lacking, and that gives the opponents to close their ranks. How can the US improve the pace of their attacks?....by playing a fast one-two touch passes game.... The US has pretty good talents in the attack to do just that, Swanson, Smith, Rodman, and Shaw especially, try to play the one touch game and move the ball as fast as they can......the US plays the static game lots of times, in which they do pass around, but do not move the ball ahead.....how many times we saw getting to their opponents 30 yds, just to slow down, and pass backwards.....why is that, you ask?....the primary reason is the lack of imagination of the players involved....once a player who wants to fasten up the game with the one touch plays, the recipient does not follow, and gets over the place much slower, thus the attack fizzles, and the fans usually blame the recipient of the pass....I like to call that daydreaming....players like Morgan are the prime example......she follows the play, but is always a step too slow, just slow enough to lose the ball.... How to beat Spain?....you can beat Spain by playing a fast one-two touch game, and don't stop in the middle of your attack, and pass the ball backwards like in a static type of attack......and here I must point out the players who are quite capable to fit in to this style...like Lily Johannes, Korbin Albert, and Rodman can play......for that to be successful they must have a very technically skilled player at the center forward position....and fortunately the US does have such a fast quick thinking powerhouse player...Jaedyn Shaw.....I sure hope Emma Hayes will discover Shaw's talent and plays her at the center forward position....the US will surely benefit of such great talent up-front...
Yeah, 7 is a lot. Here are my thoughts on how that will work out for the Olympic roster ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8CgGY0H872g.html Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate it!
@@90PlusStoppageTime Center forward position is the hardest position to play, and play good. A player must be talented, skilled, explosive, powerful, durable, with a sense to play in tight places, where there are always lots of players around, and with a sense for the goal. with that said, the real question is which players out of these 3 players fits the best for the position....sorry, I don't include Morgan and Dunn, they bot are inferior for the other 3 players Shaw, Smith, Macario. I like Shaw the best, she fits the best for playing as a center forward...with Smith and Macario closely behind.
My issue here is as follows....there shouldn't be much of a celebration when it comes to playing much weaker teams...really Now,why not measure up much bigger aggressive teams that's how you celebrate a real win....it's pathetic ...why not get better real contendors
I get what you're saying and thanks for commenting. I've said similar things in the past but in this instance, I think there are legitimate reasons to be playing South Korea. First, even now, with the growth of the women's game around the world, there are still only a handful of teams who are truly competitive with the US. Second, South Korea is a top twenty team. Which kind of goes to my first point. There's still a gap. Third, a lot of the top women's teams, and this will be an advantage for them in the Olympics, are playing Euro qualifying games right now. I just watched France defeat England 2-1 the other day. So they are out for friendlies. Fourth, Emma Hayes has had the team for about four days. Getting a solid but beatable team to play gives them an opportunity to try things and get used to what Hayes wants to do. Before the Olympics they'll also play Mexico and Costa Rica which should be more competitive. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for commenting!
