Full time RV family traveling the US. Just a couple and their husky going on adventures! You'll usually find us out on our motorcycle or our Can-Am four wheeling.
FYI it is better to strap the SXS down over each wheel. While you travel the SXS's frame moves from the suspension and may come loose. Over the wheels allows the suspension move, instead of compressing. By the way the videos are great. Never mind the Karen's. It looks like Blyth AZ.
I've been hearing that the goosebox is a better set up to get the bed space back, but I have actually seen other family's struggle on hitch up for moving day. The campers next to us were using a gooseneck adapter ( I know an adapter isnt the same as the goosebox), but we were both on uneven ground. We were both leaving the same day. They were still trying to line up and get connected while we were pulling out with our standard fifth wheel hitch, and they started their hitch attempt before us. So, yea - if you're doing a lot of hitching and unhitching (which you will be doing because it is required to level the nose of your camper in pretty much every spot), then stick with a fifth wheel.
Do you only boondocks now? We've been wondering what it would be like going to an actual campground with a HDT/MDT as we have a 379 Peterbilt we have thought about using to pull our 45' Toyhauler full-time. NICE set up.
I've seen it all when I worked at love's truck stop troutdale Oregon . Even while I was homeless and caught COVID through the manager and other employees and had mt hood er doctor report and management illegally fired me against my doctor report and medical. So safe travels when dealing with truck stops!
From a tow truck driver that doesn't suggest ever double towing with a 5wheel and travel trailers aren't designed to haul like that damage the frame and towing drivers see it all the time.
U got the wrong hitch and set up plain and simple. Unless you’re in a full blown semi truck, a goose neck hitch is ALWAYS better than a 5th wheel. U just don’t have the right set up
Not sure why the latest rage is all these RU-vidrs thinking that we want to watch married bickering and bitching back and forth, it’s annoying as hell.
Mines leaking at the bottom, there's another o-ring on the plunger that slides up and down inside the tube. The top ones you replaced must hold a tight seal to force the plunger down.
Great video. Thanks for the info. I was looking at going from my Pullrite Superglide to a GenY, but I think will look for an airbag hitch instead. Take Care.
I have been mechanic for 37 years now. Best thing to do is locate a hydraulic repair or supply shop near you and take your old o-rings in to match them up. Hydraulic o-rings are made from a harder material than o-rings that you buy from Harbor Freight and such. They have to withstand higher pressures and higher heat in some circumstances. My main point is make sure the o-rings you are going back together with are the harder o-rings designed for the pressures.
Big thing to look at isn’t so much the speed but look at how cool your truck was vs his. I’m gonna bet you didn’t get over 200 degrees where I’m gonna bet he was well north of 230 pulling that hill. Same for your egt’s. You might not speed past em but that truck doesn’t care how much weight you put on its back. Also look into pdi for some tunes or turbo upgrades and then you can pull away from them pretty easily
He was driving the truck the wrong way, keep your truck n set up. His habits will destroy that truck, but people hate bigger trucks passing them even when they're in the way so they speed up on purpose. Even if that means holding you n the rest of the traffic up. I locally drive a truck n people have no respect now days. Stay safe guys
