Transforming a 2001 Gillig (Low Floor) transit bus into a tiny house on wheels. #skoolie #busconversion #gillig #tinyhouse #tinyliving #transitbus #gilliglowfloor
BEAUTIFUL! Wow. I didn’t expect this. Was looking for Gillig conversions, as I’m considering buying one, and came across your video when you bought it, so this is only my 2nd one of yours to watch. But WOW!
For the first time I am confused... whats with the sink in the walkway? Actually I don't get the bed thingy either? I like the roll out closets but why not built-in? Curiosity overflowing. I guess we will find out soon enough. Thanks for sharing.
All good question lol A lot of this work isn’t done yet. The bed platform is temporary since the lift will have to wait for some heavy duty metal work. For now we placed some plywood there to hold the bed that’s also a folding bed. The sink is right outside the bathroom, kind of a vanity area so the shower and toilet are separated. Closets will be sliding because we would loose a lot of space with drawers. The space is really deep but not too wide. We should definitely post soon the 3D renderings to keep all this plan in mind. Thank you for following us along 🤜🤛
Can you do a video on your mini split and what made you pick that one thinking of doing a mini split on my bus conversion but looking at doing a dual head unit
The mini split project is half done and I will get back to it soon. We choose this one because I’m having a 220v system anyway, most people do the single head because is 110v. Do you have a RU-vid channel for the build?
I don’t have a RU-vid channel, but I am going to start one a little nervous about it. I have a 1997 MCI 102DL3 custom Coach conversion that I am going to be modifying and retrofitting for my families needs. It currently has a lot of outdated non-efficiency systems and I’ve been watching your build and I’m going to follow some of the same ideas that you have, I think I’m going to go for a 24 V battery bank and I’m looking at a dual head unit mini split that runs off of 220 or 240
It was from a random google search that we landed on, I know there are several online auction sites that transit agencies use. If I remember correctly it was Govdeals for this one. Good luck for you!
Normally I only like being in the drivers seat but on your bus that passenger area looks really inviting. I'm going to google that material you used for the top, looks promising.
Been following your build. Great job. My question is on the removing the wiring from the black box behind the drivers seat. I have been dreading that for months any tip?
Yeah, that’s always nerve racking! I did follow the wires from there to the other end one by one and went removing them carefully. One thing I can say is to test if the bus is working normally after each removal. This way if you get something wrong you know exactly what was it and can easily fix it. Check us out on IG and send a DM if you need more help. Good luck with your conversion too!
I wish I saw your comment two days ago. I did completely the opposite, ripped all of them now I have three warning lights lol. I have no idea which is which. (Check 12v, high voltage system, low voltage system.) interior lights not switching on😊
Great video! Did the Installing 2 diesel heater on the bus part 2 got retitled or there is a part 2 hidden? The next video after this one is diesel heater line install.
We were waiting on the winter for the final testing because it was 100+ degrees Fahrenheit around here 😂 Next one is coming soon! Thank you for watching!
It goes around 70-75mph on the highway, at least that’s what I got driving it from Texas to California. I don’t think you wanna go faster than that anyway 👀
Good morning from Australia, that slatting looks absolutely outstanding, it really adds that extra grest details to the build, good luck with the rest of the project, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia 👌👍👌👍👌👍
You two make a great team, the use of those toggle clamp closures was a great idea. It's like Jurassic Park, "no expense spared". No doubt with a better ending😁
I have just come across your channel, and would like to come on tnis journey with you, so I have subscribed to your channel, my only comment at this time is don't forget to put a barrier between the aluminium and any other metal, hope all goes well, best regards from Australia 👌👍👌👍👌👍
Welcome aboard! Thanks for the tip! We have been trying to be mindful of galvanic corrosion for sure! Australia is also definitely in our bucket list of travels. Cheers!
