Great idea and approach. Now I am mad at myself for looking for tips AFTER I created 24 oblong boxes on my swatch chart. While embodying the definition of “infant artist,” I congratulated myself in remembering the importance of swatching supplies. So, when I unearthed an old package of watercolor pencils and played with them a bit, I decided I should go ahead and swatch them. I “thought” I knew to start with creating my 24 oblong boxes and I wanted to look up the best way to swatch the pencils when I found your channel and idea. Now, I am seriously contemplating tossing out my started swatch sheet and switching to the quilt cube concept. This concept will absolutely be attempted on my next swatch. Thank you for helping me see “outside of the box.” Wow, this just looks stunning.
I love your project. It looks like you excerpted it from a really great picture/story/graphic novel/children's book. I just love it. And I loved your discussion about trying to quiet the adult mind and let the child artist free to work. Can I just say--having only four James videos a year sucks for me. All the ArtSnacks artists are wonderful, lovely, and really great. But your manner and work hits my happy art zone! Thank you for another great moment in art.
