I’m interested in your thoughts regarding morel mushroom hunting locations and panning for gold in Iowa. Where are the best locations to hunt morels based on the geological work you have done? I have panned for gold on the Cedar River but only found flakes. Does Iowa have small nuggets?
We [ Kallstrom Sweet Corn ] , here in Eastern Washington also started working ground on March 11th 2024 . April 1st we will start planting early sweet corn under plastic , hope to have off before 4th of July . Did you know that that you can raise soil temp. [ your rows of seeding ] seeding rows , by tilting your ground towards sun ?
The technology allows you to till an area less than 8 inches, but most farmers keep the tilled width around 6 to 8 inches to loosen/aerate the soil for the corn root network.
Hello, a little late but the answer is no, typically there is no need to hand pollinate. However, if you were doing some selective breeding then absolutely you would want to hand pollinate with some known pollen source so that you could ensure you get the crosses you are looking for.
How old are the hazels? Can you put in Arroyo Willow (you look dry) around the orchard to protect them from wind damage? And evergreens Rosemary, Juniper. This is assuming you're dry. Can't tell where you are.
This is great to learn a region outside my wheelhouse. I want to move where it's green. Everywhere I go within California is brown. The scenery. Unirrigated green would be amazing. I think.
Thank you. I"m in California seriously considering moving to Dubuque. I love to walk. Uphill and downhill is especially beneficial. Can you think of a better place? The Loess Hills, is that right, on the west side, would be fun. I much prefer to avoid driving. I need the hills rights where I live. Right out side my door. Tell me what you know. Please.
I can't help but imagine spraying into the wind and saying that I think I need a mask. I imagine the manager saying "Ya aint getting paid to think." lol
I'm ALWAYS first wondering what the MARKET is to SELL the crop!! Of course! So fascinating. Thanks for covering this "hole" in farming. Whether it's the Cargill Grain Elevator or... the Dairy processor? or the livestock auction? What, what what?!! No point in growing without a market FIRST. haha. thanks
It makes me proud to know that someone has such a passion for plants. You were in my country, the Dominican Republic, although I did not know you, but I could see in your videos how you appreciated our plants, it is something admirable, especially since I was born and grew up in an area with all kinds of plants, especially fruit trees.
Hi Brian, thank you for the kind words. I'm a big fan of agroforestry, the marriage between agriculture and forestry. Where I live there are too few trees and shrubs.....perennials of all types really. Then I come to the D.R. and I'm fascinated with how you do agroforestry with large trees, understory trees, and then other crops that can grow on the forest floor. I will come back soon and explore more of your country. I would like to visit the mountains, maybe Jarabacoa or Constanza. I would also like to visit the Barahona area
At minute 2:09. there is a statue of a man riding a horse, that is one of our glorious fathers of our country, he was a trader, soldier, politician, liberal Dominican who participated in the Cibaeña Revolution, in the War of Santo Domingo against the Spanish Empire and in the Six Years War. He served as a member of the Triumvirate of 1866, held the position of president of the Provisional Government based in San Felipe de Puerto Plata and after the coup against Cesáreo Guillermo he became the twenty-eighth president of the Dominican Republic. His name is Gregorio Luperon.
